All In A Day! Tenlee really needs prayer.

Hi Sweet Ladies,

2nd email today from Tenlee's Grandma, at 4:49:

This is what we learned when we made it back to the hospital. Tenlee had blood work done to test blood gas levels, a scan of her brain, chest xrays, and an echocardiogram. Not sure if that is spelled correct. Everything was great...no swelling of the brain, blood levels good, AND her heart has begun to work correctly!!! So, right now they are saying no surgery. It's that amazing. Yesterday there was so much damage that it had to be done again and today the damage is gone. Hummm, wonder who did that?! Praise God! The lungs are another story. They said that on the xrays that the left lung is white which means it is still deflated. The right is white at the very top and the very bottom. But the right is beginning to function. She was placed on a different type of ventilator that blows 340 puffs of air into her lungs each minute. This is suppose to help open the left lung and help it stay open. The doctor has started weaning her off the machines. The machine that is doing the work of the heart goes by numbers. It started at 650 which is doing everything for her heart. A few minutes ago, it was at 440 and Tenlee's heart is doing more of the work. As a matter of fact, she had a reaction to a med that she was receiving because her heart was also working and she needed less of the medication. They are continuing to give less and less of the medication as her heart does more. They are also trying to lessen her sedation. When we play with her toes, she will wiggle them. Also, one eye is trying to open. Kisa touched her eyelid to close it and Tenlee quickly opened her eye. It was almost as if she knew it was Mom. I'm sure it was a reaction to the touch but it was still exciting to see her open her eye.

NOW, don't think too much! She still has a long way to go but they are hoping to have her completely off the heart machine tomorrow afternoon. We will see. And, it will depend on what the lungs do. I will send another email as she makes IMPROVEMENTS. Doesn't that sounds wonderful. Until tomorrow, we love you all and appreciate all you are doing for our Tenlee.

Also another Grandma wrote today and needs prayer for Charlotte her 2 year old grand-daughter. They were taking her to the hospital as she had been sick for 2 weeks and they didn't know what was causing it. She said thank you!

1st email It is 9:16 on Friday morning. Heard from Regina that little Tenlee went potty. That sounds funny she said, but for them it is wonderful. Keep praying. That was answered prayer!!!!!!!

On Tuesday Morning the respiratory tech went to give her a breathing treatment and the machine got reversed and sucked all the air from her lungs. This stopped her heart. They put her on life support and gave her 50-50 chance of surviving. Thank you ladies for praying.

Thought you might like to see my accident today.

We had catering cooking today at the bakery........we were rushing around a lot trying to get everything out for lunch and dinner, plus getting Tiramisu ready for a catering on Saturday. Sometimes I forget to turn the mixer on low, when I put in the powdered sugar. This is what happens! A winter scene in the kitchen!!!!!!!!! You should have seen me!

When I got home today I went to check on Whitey. He is looking so much better don't ya think? It helps that he is living in a cage all by himself for now. When his comb heals just a little bit better, I will let him out. I brought him into the kitchen to put medicine on his head and face. Then I washed him down a bit with a washcloth. He will look lots better when his feathers dry. I am so glad he is okay.

Ater I took care of Whitey, I was off to the Potter's shed to check and see if any of my Girlies had laid some eggs.........beautimus to my eyes. I have put some straw in a old big box for the cats........the hens are taking it over! It is fine with me as long as I don't lose the eggs out in the woods. That is when it is hard when you have free range.

Thank you sweet ladies. Regina can't believe that you are all taking your time to pray. Such a precious gift we can give to one another.

Just got home very busy day and couldn't take time out to get this info out the way I wanted........caterings. Regina wrote and the news is good on Tenlee.......but don't quit praying as you will see by her email. Thank you!!!!!!!! I will be making a button so you can put Tenlee on your blog or facebook for prayer. Then you can have it come back to the post here. I will tell a story about the way the Lord worked in Ellianna's life and now Tenlee. God is sooooooo in the details!

Good Morning,
The news this morning is better. Tenlee was stable throughout the night. Kisa and John actually left the hospital and slept! Jack stayed with Tenlee and kissed her feet when he got to see her during the night. The doctors are a little more optimistic. They think that her body may be able to take over when they remove the machines. That won't be done for another few days. We are all feeling better this morning but realize that she has a long way to go. Any improvement is a big step in the right direction. We are singing praises this morning and thanking God for bringing her through the night. As I hear more from Jack, I will send you an email. Thank you all!!

Hello sweet ladies,

Emotional day.......no news on Tenlee.......keep praying, can't imagine the heart ache for all involved. You are so precious ladies.........talk about standing together......lifting our request to the God of the UNIVERSE........and the fact that He listens and holds us all in the palm of His Hand.....is more than I can understand.....we serve an amazing God.

Wish I could post..........nothing in me......really drained. We can't give up though. I will write as soon as I have some news.

Father we come before You lifting Your Name above all other names. Giving You the honor that is due to You only. We ask again that You would care for all the needs that Tenlee's family have.......finacial......spiritual......physical. That You would send the right people to minister to them. Thank You for the all the details that we can not even see that are being put into place. We love You and trust You with this whole situation! We ask all of this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen

1st email early this morning.

I know you are at school right now but needed to talk so I'm writing you. Jack got home yesterday evening in time to help with chores and have supper. At 4 this morning we got a call from one of our daughters that Tenlee was not doing well. Jack immediately left for Lubbock. When he got there he found out that a nurse was doing a breathing treatment on Tenlee and somehow the machine got reversed and suck all the air from her lungs. This stopped her heart. Tenlee is now on life support and drs. give her a 50-50 chance of surviving. I don't even know how to pray right now but I know God is with them. Thanks for listening.

Jack just called. He said the doctor came by and explained what happened. It was a mistake by the resp. tech. that has made her lungs stop working. Although she is on life support, her heart is still working. He said he wasn't sure if the lungs would begin to work again. Jack said he will not give any hope at all. He keeps telling John and Kisa to be prepared in case she doesn't make it. But, he still says a 50-50 chance. So, as someone told me this morning, we need to pray and believe that God himself will breathe life back into Tenlee's lungs. Kyle shared Zechariah 4:6 with me this morning that says, " not by our strength or power but by the Spirit of the Lord All-Powerful!

I can't imagine what this resp. tech must be going through. Please pray for them also.

Well here I am again. I just got a text from Jack. The surgeon came by to talk with them. During CPR this morning the heart surgery was damaged. So the surgery will have to be done again. I'm not sure when. It will be after they see how Tenlee does and if her lungs begin to work again.

I took this pic this last weekend........of Whitey looking pretty good!

If you follow me on facebook you know the story about my beautiful Bantam White Cochin Rooster............. when we drove up into the yard today he was being drug around by a big mean ol' Rhode Island Red Rooster. I couldn't get out of the van fast enough. I was running around after the big rooster who still had a hold of "Whitey" that wasn't his name, but it is now. I finally got them chased down and I swooped up Whitey who was not lookin' good!

Poor Whitey looked a mess. He had blood all over.......poor guy! I brought him in the house and tried to wash him off a bit.......wasn't going to work........so I gave that up! My sweet man said to spray him with Vetericyn VF. It works great on animals for wounds and infection treatment. I was holding him in one arm and sprayed with the other hand..........not good! The bottle said it wouldn't sting.......wrong!!!!!!!! Whitey was a flappin his wings big time!!!!!!! Got him all calmed down and put him in a cage so he will be protected until he heals. Poor thing! Eventful night to say the least for both of us.

Hello sweet ladies...........

Got home tonight and took my camera and took some pic's around the farm.........love this old door that is on an old house that Grandpa Percy brought to the farm and used as a chicken coop. It is all old and falling apart, but I love the old boards. I hope to rescue the door and a few windows this spring.

Sat and stitched all evening on my Valentine Swap gift........left no time for posting........it was a relaxed evening though. I think because I sat......it made me more tired then usual!

Hi Linda,

I wanted to send one more update for today. The ventilator was removed tonight and Tenlee is doing great. The doctors are amazed at how well she is doing. Thank you so much for praying for her and sharing so that so many others were also. The prayers meant so much to all of us! We serve an awesome God!

A Little Girls Needs Prayer!

Hello sweet ladies,

So precious!

Okay...........it is time to pray for a little sweet pea! Is she adorable or what? I have been asked to have us pray from her grandmother Regina. She has asked for prayer for her youngest grandchild, number 9 on Monday, January 25 (I am putting this post up the night before). She is 3 months old. She is scheduled for surgery at 7:30 in the morning, to have open heart surgery. It should last 5 hours. The surgeon will have to remove Tenlee's heart and go inside to make chambers. She was born without so right now she has both oxygenated and "un" oxygenated blood which is all pumping together. Once he builds the chambers, her heart will work great.

Tenlee's Momma, Kisa is having a real hard time. She has a strong faith in God and knows He holds the future. The family is asking that we would please pray for the surgeon. He has done this surgery many times and feels confident that it will be successful. Recovery time should be 10 days.

I (Linda) will know more tomorrow later in the day and will let you all know also. If you would like to leave a prayer for Tenlee, her momma Kisa, Regina, and the rest of the family you can do so on my comments.

She sooooo tiny to have such a big operation done! Thankful that she is being watched by the Lord!

Heavenly Father, we thank you that there is knowledge for such an operation. Thank you for giving doctors the means to help families like Regina's. We ask Father that you would by your power work mightily with the doctors, nurses and all who need a covering. We ask for all to be alert and wise in the decisions that they make during the operation. We ask for hedge of protection for Tenlee while she is under as they preform the operation. Please Lord give her parents peace during the hours that Tenlee will be in the operating room. May they come to know you more during this time of learning to trust you. We praise you Father that you have everything under control. WE love you Lord and help remind us to pray throughout the day! WE ask everything in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Took this pic of Kate the cat.........thought she was so cute all curled up in the bottom of the lilac bush. I saw her when I was feeding the birds. Can you see the green shoots coming out of the ground and one on the branch........it is January........maybe the tree doesn't know that.

Helo Sweet Ladies,

Thank you for all the comments yesterday! Loved reading them..........I wish we could all have a day here in the Refuge Cabin together!

Last night we had a wonderful time..........the fellowship was wonderful. The families that came each adopted their children from Russia........one a month ago and the other 2 years ago. It was so fun sharing stories. Adoption sure is a precious way to care for children that need homes.

Around Kansas at this time of the year you will see Canadian Geese flying over our farm. They go out to feed in the fields and then go back to the marsh that is not far from our farm. The sound is wonderful. When I lived in Alaska we would have Trumpet Swans that we would see fly onto the lakes that were not far from our homestead. What a precious memory.

Good morning sweet ladies,

Chicken on the stove cooking..........getting ready to make some rolls in the breadmaker. I love my bread machine....well not love, but like a lot!!!!! I do all my mixing and rising in it and then shape my breads and bake in the oven. It is such a much nicer bread that way. I don't like the way a bread maker bakes bread. To hard on the sides!

This morning I got to watch the sun rise..........beautimussss! One of my favorite things on Saturday and Sundays. God does such a wonderful job painting the sky..........just for us.........so we won't forget..........that He is the giver of good GIFTS~ I love Him so much!

Take you CHRISTmas tree outside for the birds. Hang pinecones that have been dipped in peanut butter and rolled in birdseed! Easy and so fun for the birds!

Every morning Shelby basks in the sun......it is funny to watch. She closes her eyes as she stands on one leg and enjoys the warmth of the sun. She also spends a lot of time cleaning her feathers, while she stand on one leg........pretty to watch.

Are these the sweetest. The little coffee pot is only about 4" tall. Going to use it tonight.........company is coming........for dinner......out in the Refuge Cabin!

My sweet man and I went out for the evening last night, for dinner and a trip to Hobby Lobby..........now that is a nice night out wouldn't ya say? We went to pick up the pictures we needed for a order. Now when I say an order I have to tell you it was a special big order. The Lord always provides the extra just when we need it! I have a story that I want to share with you, but with company coming today for dinner I will have to save for another time! God is so in the details!!!!! Look at these adorable dishes. They made my brain spin with new colors and design! Then I found a new basket that I want to hang in the "GIRLIES Coop"! I am saving my egg money for a bigger basket just like it! Going to put it down in the Milk Barn for the Cochin Girlies so one of them can have a nest to sit in and hatch some babies for Prairie Flower Momma!!!!! Spring will be here before we know it! Now is the time to prepare!

Well, I am off to a basket ball game.......one of my sweet grand kids are playing......then back home to finish up baking bread and making two soups.

Oh and making a Pineapple Cake for dessert. Can't wait for them to be surprised when we open the door to the Refuge Cabin.......and the CHRISTmas lights shine.......and they see a table that has been prepared before them! Love loving on people........it makes us think about a time when we who are in CHRIST.......get to go to the most wonderful banquet! Jesus thank you that one day you are going to come and get your Bride.......we will be waiting!!!!!!!!

A Blessing Happend Tonight!!!!!!!!!!

Hello sweet ladies,

I feel like I am loosing IT! You will understand when I tell you what happened tonight when I got home. It was a little bit warmer then it was yesterday, which I was very thankful. It was blowing so much yesterday and so cold I didn't go to check on the Banties. I just let my sweet man take care of them for me, he doesn't mind helping me when it is so nasty outside!

Anyway tonight I went down to the Milk Barn after all the "Girlies and Roosters" came in for the evening. I started counting and the chicks and roosters on the ledge............ looked so cute so I thought I would take a pic for you! Certain ones like to roost there every night. Some are turned backwards. They like to cuddle. Sometimes they will pile on top of each other to stay warm. Chickens are so fun to have and watch.

After I counted them I saw the Black Cochin Bantam sitting on the barrel I have in there to keep the food protected. Then I saw the Mottled Rooster who was not to happy with the two kittens that had cuddled up in the nester box. They live in there during the night and stay toasty warm!

Then I looked over and there was two Mottled Cochin Girlie Hens sitting .........WHAT?????????? The one on the right was MISS MILLY! I am not sure who was killed other then it must have been one of the Cuckoo Maran Hens. All I know was that evening when I found the hen all hurt, I was really upset. Anyway Miss Milly is still alive and well. Like I said, "Loosing IT!!!!

The other sweet thing that happened today was the family who had the dogs that killed the hens? They brought over two huge bags of cracked corn! Now was that sweet or what? Talk about a blessing! I am happy!!!!!!!!!

One more day of baking in the bakery! Can't wait! I have a full weekend ahead. A family we know, who also follows my blog are coming to the farm. We have a surprise for them. Can't wait!!!!!! I will journal about it this weekend!

Brrrrr.......it is so cold!

Hello sweet ladies,

Hope all is well with you. It is so cold in Kansas, even the kitchen at the college is cold! The girls and I like to stand in front the oven at the kitchen and warm up! The weekend will be different. Warm!

I just want to say thank you for all the sweet notes and comments you all have left here and on facebook. Very nice of you all! The family who has the dogs have been so kind to us. They feel horrible that their dogs have done what they have done and they wanted to pay for the damages. Of course we said no. They are doing all they can to make sure this will not happen again.

Aren't the chickens beautiful?

I saw this pic on pinterest..........I have a gate like this. Not fancy on the top, but still will be fine for this look. I will make sure the gate will be a part of the new chicken pen! Can't wait for summer. The little Bantam Cochin Girlies are laying up to 3-4 eggs a day. I am sure they are going to be good setters. I will sneak some of the big Girlies eggs under their tummies so they will sit on some big eggs! Oh, almost forgot to tell you, the ducks are laying eggs also! So excited about that also!

Cherry Pepsi Float Cupcakes

Today Tressa made Cherry Pepsi Float Cupcakes. Thought you might like the recipe. We didn't have Cherry Coke at the bakery so we made ours with Pepsi. I couldn't resist making a heart and taking a pic! It's the craftin' in me! Perfect recipe for Valentines Day don't you think? For our frosting Tress made a butter cream frosting and added chopped thawed frozen cherries . The frosting was wonderful! Instead of the maraschino cherries she used the thawed frozen cherries. They were delicious, especially when you bit into the cherry!

On the way to work I am treating myself to Kisses from Katie. I want to share with you the story that I read this morning. Katie loves Jesus and she is encouraging my heart! If you want to buy.......go here!

The night in 2007 was cold and rainy. I was walking out of the supermarket on Main Street in downtown Jinja, on my way home. Then I saw him. Huddled on the street corner, drenched and shivering, was a little boy. At that moment, all I really wanted to think about was getting home, getting dry, and crawling into my warm bed. But a voice inside told me to stop. I took the little boy inside the supermarket to dry him off a bit and bought him some biscuits and juice. I gave him my sweatshirt, a small wooden cross I carried in my pocket, and some change so he could get a ride home. As he left, he called out, “What is your name?” “Katie,” I responded, “Auntie Katie.” “Me, I am Daniel,” he shouted and disappeared into the wet, chilly night. About a year later, I walked into the supermarket to buy food for my family and got caught in a big hug. Two small brown arms wrapped around me as a child’s voice excitedly proclaimed, “Auntie Katie!” I looked down to see Daniel. Beaming. “Wait,” he urged me. He hurried to the nearest street vendor and bought me a popsicle with the little pocket change he had. He then dug his little hand in his pocket and pulled out the small wooden cross. Looking at me with a wide grin, he spoke words that pierced my heart: “I have never stopped praying for you every day.” To this day, I think of that story and stand amazed at the goodness of our God and the enormous things He can accomplish if I am obedient to His command to stop and love the person in front of me. That rainy night, I really just wanted to hop on a piki and go home. But I stopped, because that’s what my heart told me to do. I only gave him a sweatshirt (I’m sure I have eight more). I only gave him some cheap biscuits (I can eat biscuits anytime I want to). I only gave him enough money for his ride home (probably less than the equivalent of fifty cents). But Jesus gave him hope that night. And he remembered. He didn’t just remember my face; he remembered my name. He prayed for me. He prayed for my safety and for the opportunity to see me again. I blessed him just one cold night, and he blessed me every day after that for an entire year.

This story blessed my heart. I don't want to miss in my life what the Lord wants to do! I was reminded of this this morning. Sometimes when I have to get up so early and be somewhere else other then my home.......I just cry! Yup.......a baby, but when I read the Word of God or read a story about someone who loves Him.....it encourages my heart to keep on with the race set before me. Hope you enjoyed this story....... if you are a Momma with little ones and you are tired.....swoop them up in your arms.......pray over them.....ask God to give you the strength to pour His Word into their hearts.......you won't regret it! Or maybe you are older.....and life has dealt you with some hard stuff........don't quit......trust Him with your life......ask Him to give you someone......just like He gave Katie, Daniel to encourage. He will, supernaturally because He has someone He wants us to love or encourage.........for Him. A good place to be!

She didn't make it!

Hello Sweet ladies,

Miss Milly

Well when I got home tonight I realized that when I went into the big coop that the full size Mottled Hen that I thought was hurt was not. It was Miss Milly and when I went to check on her, she was dead. She died when I was at the bakery. I am very thankful that I do still have the Mottled rooster and another Bantam Mottled hen. I will separate them this spring from the flock and they can hopefully have some babies. The hen is not as beautiful as Miss Milly was, she was a prize! That is part of having free range chickens during the day and living on a farm. The owners I hope will be keeping the dogs at their place. They are different dogs then the ones that came and really killed a lot of my ducks and chickens. Hard day!

Fresh Cherry Pie Filling

I pinned this recipe on my Pinterest the other day........just so I would be ready when our sour cherries came in at the bakery.........they did!

We are trying to cut costs at the bakery.....so we are making more things by scratch, just to help us get through all the price increases. It has been wonderful for us to learn different ways we can do that. Great for the girls! I found this cherry pie filling recipe and made it today. Easy and very very good. The cherries were really nice to work with and the pie filling turned out wonderful. Our boss said we were saving money! Good thing!

I made what I call Cherry pie for the kids........even though I don't have to make a ton of pie crusts. It is very economical and fast. I use an oblong pan..........spoon the pie filling into the bottom of the pan about 2" deep. Set aside.

Then I make a wonderful pie crust that we found last year while working at the bakery! It is the best. It is a Simply Recipes recipe called Perfect Pie Crust. Super easy and really easy if you have a food processor. Found here. Lattice the top and sprinkle a little sugar on the top then bake for about 20 minutes. For my sweet man I surprised him......gave him a piece with a sliver of ice cream on the top........he was pleased........with me!

Tressa also used some of the cherries to make these wonderful muffins for tomorrow morning for breakfast. We made a streusel for the top of butter, brown sugar and whole oats. Sprinkle that over the top of each muffin. There are so many good blogs out there with super recipes. They have been helping us with new recipes in the kitchen . Plus we feel like we are getting paid and an education all at the same time.

Today I was serving on the line and a young man came up to me and asked if I had a blog and was my name Linda. I said yes and he said that his momma was there at the college and wanted to meet me. She later came up and told me who she was. When we were in Lawrence a year ago she read on my blog that I was going to Lawrence. She said there was a really neat shop there and it was worth it to go. We did go to the shop and while we were there a girl from Sterling that used to go to the college where we are working came through the door. We hadn't seen each other for years!!!!!!! A gift........to me.......from the Lord!!!!! Anyway today Kelli and I had such a neat time getting to know each other. My boss let me have some extra time to visit. I am thankful, I have a precious boss! It was a really special day for me! Some day maybe I can meet you!!!!!!!

After work had to go to my Momma's nursing home and work out some of her care. She is doing the same, just hard to think about her not always being here one day. Life sure can be hard. She has Alzheimer's, but I am so thankful, she is so healthy. So grateful I have her, even if it is hard......she gives me smiles sometimes, that makes it all worth it!!!!!!! God uses her life to bless others even if she can't talk!

Tonight got home and two dogs had been on the farm. They have never bothered the chickens, but they hurt one of my big Mottled girls. She is wounded with an open wound on her back, my Phil thinks she might be okay. It doesn't look good to me! They also got one of my roosters. Looks like they really got his tail feathers, but he is alive. Found him about a forth of a mile across the field, poor guy........not nice dogs, they must have chased him! Hardest thing about living out on a farm and then letting your chickens go free range.

What a fun day we had on the farm today! Real relaxed, filled with older son's and their families! That means grandkids........and that means lots of running in and out of the house, needing food, like every half hour and lots of hugs. Smile! It really was so nice just to have a calm sunny day!

I spent some time moving the little chickens down to the milk barn which was a very relaxing thing to do. They were not quite sure whether they liked it down there or not. I put two lights over the and a blanket to make sure they are toasty warm.

They kind of hovered to the bottom of the cage. Not sure about all of the space! They will get used to their new surrounds.

Ellie and I went out to be with her horse.........look what we found in the Potter's Shed........a nest.......some girls have been busy laying in a comfy place.

Some of you sweeties asked for the soup recipe......so here it is.

Our Family Chicken Soup

Chicken pieces or a whole chicken

10 cups of water

3 chicken bouillon cubes

4 cut up whole carrots

2 cut stalks of celery with leaves

2 or more cups of rice

2 tea. salt

1 tea pepper

1 tea. celery seeds

Boil chicken and bouillon cubes in water in a large soup pot until it is cooked. Cut chicken in small pieces. Add back to broth. Add carrots, celery, rice salt (to your taste), pepper and celery seeds. Cook until veggies and rice are done. This is the easiest recipe and very very good! We always make homemade bread and fix sandwiches when we make this. It is an easy dinner for when you have company. We can chicken so I always have it to take off the shelf for my soup. I also can lots of broth so I use that and add water.

We have a little book that we put in the Refuge Cabin for when the first set of girls came to the cabin. Later today I went out to the cabin to pick things up after all the girls left. I sat.........and read in the little book.......and wept. Then I started thanking the Lord for his mercy and grace in our lives to allow us to love these girls, in His Name. Last night I had prayed over the girls before we left them to eat their dinner. I had asked the Lord if He would to give them a time of peace with Him on their retreat. As I read each note, I was overwhelmed with gratitude, to my Heavenly Father........who has strategically placed us at the college. It isn't the way I would have liked it, but ladies, I am a missionary........with my sweet family......on a huge mission field! I have been reading Kisses from Katie and the sacrifice she has made so that families in Uganda can know the Truth, has encouraged me in my walk. I don't have to leave my country to do that. God has used her to share Jesus! Well, He is using me and He can use you.......right were we are? Especially mommies raising and training their children for the Glory of God! I get to see hundreds of young people each day.......getting to serve them, asking how I can pray for them, how their classes are going......when do they have a test......so on and so on. I don't want to miss what the Lord has for our family. What a treasure that He has allowed us to do it all together. Now that is a gift!

Hugs to you precious ladies who the Lord has so graciously given to me.......to love for Him. I hope you know that! Thank you for making my days smile! I also thank you to all who pray for our family each day! What a precious gift you have given us.

Tonight the family was watching the Broncos and Patriots game.......this came on and it caught my attention! I was working on this post when it came on........you will like! The end is so precious!

He painted the sky........the girls enjoyed!

My girls and I had so much fun getting the cabin and food ready for the girls who had a retreat in the cabin last night. When they arrived the sun was just going down. My sweet man had a fire going and we had built a long couch out of bales of straw. It was so fun to see their faces when they got out of their van. Precious. I have served all of them at the college, but didn't know what girls would be coming. One girl grabbled me and hugggggggeeeeeddddd me forever! Thank you Jesus for hugs!!

We served our family recipe of Chicken Rice Soup.

I put the ingredients for Honey Sandwich Buns in to my bread machine, after I got home and had them ready by 5:30, love that bread maker. I only do it on the dough setting, then cook what ever I am making in the oven. EASY and very fast! Made a plate with sandwich meats and cheese.......another plate with veggies to go on their sandwiches. It was simple, but that makes it fun for me to entertain!

We made a chocolate single layer cake in a round pan. Cut it into 8ths and served a wedge, spooned strawberries/sugar and the syrup, whipped fresh cream and ganache over the top. YUM! They said they liked it.........a lot! It was super easy to make also.

They donated money to the refuge cabin!!!!!!! Talk about sweet! Hope we can get some insulation on the inside of the cabin now. God provides........I was not expecting that!

Well, I am off to work on the party! Hugs to you all and trust you are having a sweet Saturday! I am, later in the day I am moving the baby chicks out. They are not welcome in the house anymore!

Girls Are Coming to the Refuge Cabin!

Hello sweet ladies,

Today I used another recipe from the Fresh from the Farmstand Gooseberry Cookbook! I knew we had some frozen peaches and raspberries, when I came across the recipe Peach Melba Crisp. It looked like it would be fast and easy so we made it. It turned out very delicious! Peach and raspberry together has the best flavor! Try it!

Peach Melba Crisp

1/2 c. butter

6 c. frozen peach slices

2 c. frozen raspberries

1 T. lemon juice

2 c. sugar, divided

1 c. all-purpose flour

1 T. baking powder

1 c. milk

Garnish: vanilla ice cream

Place butter in a 13"x9" glass baking pan; melt in a 350-degree oven. Spread to coat pan and set aside. In a large saucepan, combine peaches, raspberries, lemon juice and one cup sugar. Stir over a medium heat just until bubbly. Pour over melted butter; do not stir. In a separate bowl, whisk together remaining sugar, flour, baking powder and milk just until smooth. Pour over fruit; do not stir. Bake at 425 degrees for 45 minutes. Allow to cool for 30 minutees. Serve warm or at room temperature; may be reheated in the microwave. top with a scoop of ice cream. Serves 10 to 12.

The last few days I have received some emails with real needs. I have permission to put this up. For some time I have had a sweet friend named Michele. She is a blogger friend, with a son that has been battling a rare form of soft cell sarcoma. It has been a very difficult time for Jason. I received an email today after work asking if we would pray for Jason. Here is a copy of her email.

"Jason's (her older son) lung is in a very critical condition that needs to addressed immediately. The doctors at MD Anderson are meeting this week to come up with a game plan to stop the progress of lung disease he is now experiencing. We desperately needing the healing grace of God to stop this from developing into cancer. He is emotional exhausted and scared to "death". I am trying to be upbeat and positive for him but I too am frightened. I know the Lord has a plan and I trust in him. I just know what the power of prayer can accomplish. So please help gather the prayers and surround Jason with your love." Michle

Thank you ladies for coming along side Michle and her precious family and son! She is right "Together" their is power in prayer.

Father, we come in the name and power of Jesus Christ, thanking you for all that you have done for Jason. We ask that You would come and give Jason everything he needs to battle this cancer. Please Father we ask for healing and help for the Doctors. Your Word encourages us "that it is you Lord who goes before them. That You will be with this precious family, that You will not leave or forsake them. Thank You that they do not have to fear or be dismayed and we thank You for your Word! You are precious Lord, and we can trust You with this precious families lives..........You are an Awesome God. We do ask this in the mighty and wonderful name of Jesus Christ, Amen

One more thing. I wanted to say that I hope you all have received your teas. I have had a few where there has been "real life issues" on why you haven't received some of your teas. Please please, if you haven't let me know. I will be home for the weekend and will have time to do some checking for you!

An OOPS made Pretty!

Hi sweet ladies!

Well, today at the bakery we were to make a raspberry Torte. Now I have never made one before, but didn't think it would be to hard and we had been planing to do it for the last week. Tay had made the raspberry sauce for the filling all made. It was beautiful and tasty. Wish I had a pic of it. Tressa was in charge of making the chocolate cake. I was in charge of decorating it. I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like......... pretty! We baked the chocolate cake in two round 9" pans. We made up the frosting while we were waiting. It was going to be chocolate, and we needed chocolate ganache for the top of the cake. It seemed like everything we needed to do, was made hard by not having the ingredients that we needed. The cakes were ready to start to put together. I was confident that it was going to be easy. Oh and the cake had been ordered for a birthday gift for a Professor. For some reason that makes it harder for us.

I started frosting the bottom cake on the top with a thin layer of chocolate icing. Then I spread a thin layer of raspberry sauce. Now it was time to put the next cake layer on the top.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I got to giggling so hard.....then Tress got the giggles.........why now? Now I didn't tell you that our Top Boss was at our kitchen today. We couldn't let him see this! Hee hee! We kept watching the top of the cake fall apart before our eyes. One of the salad girls said it was looking like the Grand Canyon and just fill the cracks in with more ganache. Not going to work! I had another layer that I could use, so I took the top layer off and thru it in a pan.......we would eat that later. I have to tell you this was the best chocolate cake we had ever had! We were going to make this cake beautiful. We continued to frost the cake and it started looking like this...........

I don't think the picture gives it justice, but it did turn out really pretty. Ganache is spread on the top. Shaved semi sweet chocolate was carefully sprinkled on about a 1/2" along the top edge of the ganache. I frosted the sides with chocolate frosting. We broke up chocolate pieces and pressed along the side on top of the frosting. Took some of the ganache and drizzled it along the edge.

We learned a lot. One thing we will do when we have to do this same thing again tomorrow, is make the cake level!!!!!!! I have to make another cake! Two of the students at the college got engaged! We will be a little bit wiser.

Little Miss Fluff was doing great tonight when I took her out of the milk barn and the other chickens are enjoying the new nesting box also. 3 were all in the same box at the same time. Silly Rooster and Girls! Farm life at it's best! My sweet man told me that all the farm cats have found the nesting boxes.........I will have to figure out a place for them when the weather gets warmer.

Found this on pinterest tonight! I think I need one of these in the milk barn..........for the girls. My sister just sent me all the things I need to start felting.......on my list of to do's!!!!!! If you would like the pattern.......go HERE.

Little Miss Fluff #2 and Strawberry Roll Deluxe Recipe

Hello sweet ladies,

Today is going to be one of the last nice days, before it gets cold again. As soon as I got home I changed and went down to the milk house where all the bantams live. I thought I should get one of my nester for the girls, because spring will be here before we know it. I want them to have a place to start laying eggs, so hopefully they will hatch little ones for me! It is sooooo much easier to do it that way! Plus I just love watching the Momma with her babies.

Little Miss Fluff #2

I started cleaning around and moved this white bucket and underneath was Little Miss Fluff #2. All her feathers were very wet. Poor thing, not sure how long she had been under there, but she was not in good shape. She could barely move. Anyway she was alive so I brought her into the house to get her warmed up. I set her right in front of a heater. After her body got warmed up, she started to move and do a little clucking. I can't believe that I even went down to start cleaning up. I have thought about it a lot, but I was so thankful that I did! I would have lost her for sure had I not decided to work on the nester today!

She started to drink water, I knew that she was going to be fine. I loved how the water droplets are on her wattle! Sweet face, don't you think?

It was time to take her out to the milk barn. I set her down on the straw and she went straight to where she lays her eggs. I bet she was wanting to lay an egg the whole time she was under that bucket!!!!!

My sweet man helped me get a nester down in the milk barn. I am so excited to see what my little Girlies are going to do. I started filling all the nests with straw. I didn't make it all nice and neat, the girls will do that. I will show you tomorrow.

Today at work I tried a new recipe from the Fresh from the Farmstand Cookbook. It is a gluten free dessert. The kids loved it!

Strawberry Roll Deluxe Recipe

5 eggs, separated

3/4 c. sugar, divided

1/ t. vanilla extract

3/4 c. cornstarch

1 t. baking powder

1/4 t. salt

2 c. whipping cream

4 c. strawberries, hulled and diced

Garnish: powdered sugar

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer on high speed, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold in 1/2 cup sugar; set aside.

In a separate bowl, beat egg yolk mixture. Slowly add cornstarch, baking powder and salt; fold together. Spread batter evenly on a parchment paper-lined 15"x10" jelly-roll pan. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minute. Let cool.

I put cream on roll, instead of folding the strawberries into the whip cream.

(I personally put the whip cream on first, then I put the strawberry mixture on top of that. It worked great that way!)

In a separate bowl, with an electric mixer on high speed, beat cream until soft peaks form. Fold strawberries into whipped cream.

Spread cream mixture on cake and roll up jelly-roll style. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before slicing. Serves 6.

Very good and a nice light dessert!

Today and Yesterday Was A Special Day!

Peace Creek is not far from our farm........Tressa went down to sit on the bridge for some quiet time. Such a peaceful place, I think she captured it well on our camera. This scripture has helped me, hope it encourages you.

Hello sweet ladies,

Today was a precious day at work at the bakery, a true gift from Jesus! I have been praying and I know that many of you have also prayed that the Lord would use our family there. Today was one of those days. I have one word. "Amazing". I want to be careful about what I share, but let me say, I knew without a shadow of a doubt, the Holy Spirit has been working in the heart of one of the people we work with. I was almost giddy (silently) as I was witnessing a precious moment! It seemed to make my time at work pleasurable today. That in it's self was a miracle for me! You know that I would so rather be at home, but I know that God is working in my heart also. I would not want to leave this person now. I thank the Lord for the peace He has put in my heart as I work outside the home! Sweet ladies, thank you for praying for us, we so appreciate it!

Our grand daughter received a horse for her CHRISTmas gift, from her family. Our whole family was able to be a part of the her seeing her gift for the first time.

I was able to go in with Ellie.........a treasured time for sure!

Lady and Ellie were introduced............nothing like a little girl and a new horse. We have found in our home that it is a precious relationship. Ellie lost her first horse Sugar this last summer. She had her for only 3 years and the death was very hard on our Ellie. Her Momma and Daddy were so excited about this gift!

We have always encouraged the kids to go very slow in getting to know their new horses. Sitting on a bucket and letting the horse come to you over a period of time is a wonderful way to do that!

Vitaliy joined Ellie and they sat and sat and sat!!!!!!!!

V loves Lady also!

Yesterday Ellie was out on the farm again. It was a very special time had between Ellie and Lady. Lady is responding to her very well! It will take some working to get Lady to trust Ellie. Looks like every time they meet she does much better.

Thought some of you ladies who love chickens would like to see my sweet "Miss Milly. She is a Black Mottled Cochin. I think she is so pretty. Just love her feathers, she is now laying eggs. Can't wait until spring to see if she will be a good setter.

did you know that if you heat lemons in the microwave for 30 seconds before squeezing...you'l get twice the juice? Neat idea! There are tons more ideas just like that!

Look at these beautiful muffins! NUM!!!!!!

I made them up at the bakery. I knew the kids would like something with raspberry.........we make them turnovers and they love them. I was sure they would like these also. I went to the pantry and fridge and gathered all my ingredients. By the way.....this one is so simple and soooo delicious you won't make it just once!!!!

You will need,

quick-cooking oats

brown sugar

vanilla yogurt

oil (I used melted butter)

egg

unbleached flour

salt

soda

baking powder

Raspberry Yogurt Muffins

1 c. quick-cooking oats, uncooked

1/2 c. brown sugar, packed

1 c. vanilla or plain yogurt

1/2 c. oil (melted butter)

1 egg, beaten

1 c. unbleached flour

1 t. salt

1 t. baking powder

1/2 t. baking soda

1 cup raspberries, I will use 2 cups next time.

In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, yogurt, oil and egg. Beat well; let stand 5 minutes. Sift in flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Before stirring, sprinkle fruit over flour mixture. Stir to blend. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.

The muffins are wonderful! The only thing......... there wasn't enough raspberries in each muffin, so I would add more the next time I make them.

In another month I will be starting all my plants for our garden. It is one of my favorite things to do! Lots of farmers that go to Farmer's Market will be doing the same. It really is a special time of the year watching all the little sprouts come up. I have to check on my plants every day!!!!!!! Love it when I see the first "little curve" of green come up thru the ground. The Fresh from the Farmstand has recipes that will help me plan my garden........I will have to have..............

Good morning sweet ladies!

Hello sweet ladies,

This morning I started to get out of our comfy bed... that has red floral sheets and a pretty white quilt. I looked out the window and the sun was coming up through the curtains awww, (my Father giving me another one of His Gifts)........I saw the CHRISTmas tree at the edge of the door where the sun was shining on the little bulbs, sweetness to my eyes. I came into the dinning room and the little chicks were telling me they needed fresh water. These days they are a constant chatter in the corner of the room in their birdie cage. I feel like a Momma Hen caring for her chicks......music to a momma's ear after turning my eggs for 21 days 2 times a day......smile! Heard the roosters "doodling" out the window! Music to a farmgirl's ear! Sweet man gathering warm water for the "Girlie Hens".......they love seeing him coming......just like me! "Wink"!

Went to take a beautiful "Floral" tea bag from a beautiful can to make myself a cup of tea.......and lit my new "Cheerful Giver" candle that I received in the mail yesterday from my friend Susan. Now I will be stitching a gift.......for one of you to win and that will go along with the new cookbook! It will be nice to sit at my sewing machine and pray for you! Pocket Calendar Makeover

I told you I had a surprise for you on my facebook ..........and here it is! It is a tutorial for a "Pocket Calendar Makeover". Just for YOU, because you all have been so precious in following me all this last year.........and we all need little gifts......right? You know the little calendar books you find at the stores that you can have in your purse? I have made these as gifts for some time and have so much fun making them! Thought you would also! I needed a gift for a sweet farmgirl friend at CHRISTmas thyme. Thought this would be a fun thing for her to keep her egg count each day! These are so easy to make. I do mostly stitching with my sewing machine and a little bit of glueing when I put them together. You can find lots of papers at scrapbook stores or craft stores. The papers I have here are ones I painted up, I was licensed by a company in California and designed lots of papers for CHA to see if I could get into the scrapbooking world.......it didn't happen, but the Lord still used the art for other things! He is so like that ya know! This project doesn't take much time and it makes such sweet gifts. Hope you enjoy! It is just another way to say "I LOVE YOU"!

If You Want To!

Good evening ladies, it is Wednesday night and I am sooooooo tired! Slept a little bit better last night so thank you to all who prayed. I sooooooo appreciate you! We are up in numbers at work for interterm. Makes us happy, because that is good for the kitchen workers. Thanking Jesus! We did lots of baking today and that put us in good shape for the rest of the week. Getting into the routine again! My feet hurt........we walk 5000 steps a day.......walk 1 mile a day......good for the body! heehee!

I have been doing something kind of fun during serving time. Sometimes I have to just stand there and for me to just stand and not do anything is torture for me!!!!!!! So I decided to take cookbooks, magazines, articles and read during those times that the kids are not there.......it has made all the difference for me. Just gives me a little something to look forward to during the down time.

Lately I have been pinning Valentine ideas to my Pinterest board........cute things.........well........

yesterday a sweet lady who has a blog called Nanalulu's Musings, left me a comment on my post about a Valentine Swap. I thought it sounded interesting, so I went over to look. A "Valentine Swap" now why didn't I think of that? She did though and she invited anyone who would like to join in to come to her blog and sign up. I signed up. Dead line is January 13th to sign up. This swap is a little more detailed than my tea party was, but I think it will be fun. Here is a picture that will make you smile........remember our little Delainey that we prayed for and the doctor said no on the new heart? Well her momma, daddy, grammie and Grandpa are not giving up. Grammie wrote and said that she smiles, giggles and is the sweetest baby on EARTH! They are pursuing other avenues for her medical care. She is gaining weight, but she still needs lots of prayer ladies!

First Day Back.........He Blessed Me!

Hi Sweet Ladies,

Today went well. We got up at 5 and I turned on Daily Audio Bible. It was good to have the Word going through our Home before we left. It helps to think what is pure, good and right. We were ready to leave the house.......it was very dark outside........I decided to cock a doodling to the roosters, I am pretty good at it, but I didn't think they would talk back........they did. Thank you Jesus! I needed that. I know it is silly, but it is just something I really love about having chickens......the boys bidding the morning HELLO!

We got in the car.......my sweet man took off his hat......I knew he would lead us in prayer......for the day......for us.......the students, our boss and his family......friends (you)........our children......that Chartwell the company we work for would be blessed and many would come to know the Lord.......the President (his family) at the college.....that truth would reign at the college.

We drove and got to the edge of our little town.......the CHRISTmas tree lights were still up........again, thank you Jesus.......simple.......but a gift for me. It made this heart smile!

Hannah, Ellieanna's Momma, Daddy and brother and sister came to the college before leaving for their home. We got to see them for about a half an hour! Talk about a blessing. Life continues on for them. The miss their little girl. Here is Hannah's blog, if you would like to read.

Thank you for going over to Our Crazy Farm........Terry has also experienced sorrow in their family. Their teenage son was killed February 18th, 2011, in a horrible skiing accident. Her walk has been an encouragement to me as I have read about her faith. Along Terri's side bar she has written a book called, How My Savior Leads Me, if you are interested in buying one.

As soon as we got into the kitchen we started getting ready for lunch........Taylor made these adorable cupcakes. Simple, your favorite chocolate cake recipe made into cupcakes. Buttercream frosting with blue food coloring in it.

For the chocolate pieces, melt 1/2 c. chocolate chips and 1 tea. of butter until melted and creamy. Lay parchment paper on a cookie sheet and spread the melted chocolate thin. Place in the fridge until it becomes hard. Frost cupcakes. Look at picture, swirl around the top of the frosted cupcake. We use a tip that is called Long teeth. We like how it makes the swirls on the top. Break the chocolate and stick randomly around the frosting.

I help serve at lunch time on one of the lines . The girls stay in the bakery and bake. At first I didn't like serving. I don't like to be on the front lines to much. Any way the kids started coming to my line this morning. I always try to do small talk........a young man (who is a dorm parent with his wife) and I started talking. He has a precious little baby girl. I love it when he brings her, because truly if I could still have children..........yup I would.......probably lots! Can't help it. Anyway I knew his wife was a teacher at the grade school and I said that it was nice they both had vacation together. He said yes, but this would be the last year that she would work outside the Home. I have prayed the for young couples that are on campus.....with little ones. I started to tear up!!!!!!!! I told him how important it was for his wife to be with their little one. Ladies, it was kind of funny, because I told him if they ever needed money we would help........now I have to say.....we don't make a whole lot ourselves, but enough! Remember when I talked about adopting a an unwed Momma the other day, so she could stay home with her child? Well, why don't we do that with young families? Again......I was so thankful that the Lord had us at the college........for such a time as this. The precious part of the conversation was when he said, "could my wife and I meet with you and your husband so you could share with us how you did it? Eeeeeeckkkkk!!!!!!!! God you are sooooooo amazing! YES, YES, YES! We will........we are going to meet them........real soon! We will have them out to the refuge cabin........can't wait. I walked away from the college bakery today.......with my heart full. I have felt bad since we started working at the college last year. I felt that my example of working outside the home, would steer woman away from their home. It would really break my heart if anyone thought that. But here the Lord was using us to encourage a younger couple in their decision for her to come home. Just when I needed a hug from God, He gave it!!!!! It was a good day, PRAISING OUR FATHER......who knows my heart. I can trust EVERYTHING to HIS CARE.

I can't see the sunrise on the weekdays.........but He gave me this tonight, it was beautiful!

If you want to pray for something, please pray for our sleep. I didn't get much last night. It was not cool!!!!!

This is going to be a fast post. I am on break at the kitchen. I have just 15 minutes. A Treat For You!

Good morning sweet ladies,

I bought Katie's book and I am now reading it. Yesterday my 11 and 13 year old granddaughters were with. We were looking on my pinterest and the girls saw the video I had pinned of Katie Davis' video. They wanted to listen to it, so we did. The youngest said, that she had always wanted to go to Africa to be a missionary. I had known that about Savannah, just hadn't given it much thought until now. I told her about Katie's book, she wanted one!!!!!!.I am buying it for the girls. I downloaded the kindle version yesterday. Now I know how to pray a little bit better for my little girls.

If Savannah wants to go the field.......we are going to see how the Lord wants to do that....... made her a Mission jar this morning......we will start adding to it today......and see what He does with it tomorrow!

This morning I knew would be my last morning of being on the farm to see the sunrise. I went to my kitchen window to check on the bird feeder. It is one of my favorite things to do......I guess it is the Alaskan in me. We always watched the birds at my Grandma's log home when we were growing up. She would put seed out on the window sill. This morning Mr. Woodpecker was there......he flew up into the tree and I was able to capture him eating bugs. Thought you might like to see. He is beautiful and is around the old spruce tree all throughout the day.

Good morning sweet precious ladies,

WE WANT TO KNOW!

It will look different for each of us........but please ladies consider praying and asking the Lord........"please precious Jesus, make it known to me what can I do in my part of the world. That you want done through me, to Love whoever you call me to Love, in your Name! We may not be able to go to the ends of the earth ladies, but what about our neighbor next door.....the lady we work with who so desperately needs the Lord, the momma at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, who needs someone to adopt her, so she can stay home with her baby.........the little girl or boy whose Daddy is not in the home, (because life has scarred him) not making excuses for him......it's just the way the enemy works to destroy the family! One generation after another......I know......he came after me.......praise the Lord, Jesus rescued me! You can ask the Lord to help you find these people.......but the only way it will really work... is if the work is done in the power of the Holy Spirit. We can do work, just to do work, but if the cup isn't given in the name of Jesus......it is only work. "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

Our stories will be observed by God.......life lived out between Him and ourselves.........He does want to be a part of what we are doing.......it will be amazing!

As so many of you know this last year our family poured our lives into the life of a little orphan boy named Vitaliy. It started over a year ago.........he came into our son's families home a quiet, shy, a little scared I would say little boy, but needing love. Soon his little life was woven into all 20 of our families hearts. We had to send him back. That is the way Horizans works. But we worked and prayed and God provided a way!

He is signing "I love You" before he gets on the plane........to go back to Ukraine.

Now he is back and living in America, with the name Vitaliy Philip Stubbs!!!!!!! I pinch myself.........it is true.

So many of you came along side us and gave of your hard earned money to help us with the 30 thousand dollar fee. We are forever grateful and wish we could tell each of you in person and give you a hug! If you ever adopt a child.........please tell me......we want to help!!!!!!! It is the most wonderful adventure in the world!!!!!!!

Anyway the other day Emma told me about Amazima Ministries. I wrote about it in yesterdays blog. Later in the day I listened to this "one precious YOUNG lady tell her story..........I wept........my heart was turned inside out! I want to help her.......God will supply the helps! I know I can't, but He can. If you want to donate go here to Amazima Ministries. Katie herself (her blog), in her early twenties has adopted 14 precious little girls to date. She has also taught woman (who have had to sell their bodies to care for their children) to make necklaces to help provide for their families.

She had this on her site. "Be assured, if you walk with Him and look to Him, and expect help from Him, He will never fail you." George Mueller.

So true.......I have seen it in my life a thousand times! I could NEVER live this life down here with out HIM!

AS you can tell, my heart is excited! I can't wait to ask the Lord to bless this precious Momma of 14........this is only one ministries.......I realize there are ones right in your back door......but I ask you ladies to consider reaching out. Our God has a plan.......to touch lives.........I want to badly be a part of that plan..........and I am asking the Lord to use my blog........for His purposes.........please consider using yours if you aren't already!

May God use this new Year..........to rock this world for Him......using Young Ladies, Momma's, and Grandmother's in Jesus Name........He will do what we can not!

I love you so much and thank God for each and everyone of you. Let's stay on our knees for our families, our community and for our world.........that they may know Jesus!

Good morning precious sweet ladies, who I know without a shadow of doubt the Lord has brought to my blog.........for one purpose........so that I can tell you......that you are someone special.....to remind you that you are loved......by God and me. I want you to know Jesus personally and if you don't somehow I can tell you who He is, in my daily walk with Him. My heart prayer is that I would never lead you astray from the truth of His Word........please pray for me.

I want you to be encouraged that as Momma's of children....... that Home is the best place for us to be. That training them to serve the Lord is the most important job we will ever have on this earth. To tell you that even though they may wander in their latter years, to stay faithful to the Lord and stay on your knees on their behalf until they return to their first love, Jesus Christ. To make our Homes a place of refuge for our families and to work hard to make it that. I know some of you Momma's have to go outside the Home and work, because of circumstances you have no control over. I am so sorry. Life here in an imperfect world and sometimes makes life very difficult. Some of you are so weary.....but the Word says to "not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up"! Galatians 6:9.

As you know last year our family had to go from the farm to work in a college. To serve in the bakery and kitchen to 450 young people who needed encouragement. They are far from their families homes. The fact that I had to leave my home, ladies this broke my heart, after working alongside my sweet man and our children for all our married lives. The fellowship the Lord has given our family has been a delight to my heart big time, year after year........working the soil! As you know I still work along side our girls in the bakery. I can go and see my sweet man and help him at the grill whenever he needs it. Our boss is a CHRISTian man and understands being a help mate to your husband. God you are amazing!!!! We had to do something to keep ourselves going. We went to the Lord and asked what He wanted us to do. We prayed specifically because we wanted to stay as a family. Some told us it was impossible.......we already knew that, that is why we prayed!!!!!! About 5 days before the college was to start a young man called (who was going to help my sweet man learn to compost). He said that he couldn't come that week, because he was hiring 9 people in the kitchen at the college. We knew "4 of those people" who he was looking for. smile! We were hired......as a family......together. Precious.......but not without a cost on this Momma's part or our girls. I will never be comfortable leaving our Home everyday nor are they. Our hours were until early afternoon. That left half the day.......another blessing! I can see the golden thread woven into the tapestry of our lives. Our girls are learning a lot as we learn together and it has been fun. I couldn't bear to give the time up that we have always had. They have also made some very sweet friends, who also love the Lord. We had prayed for good friends......God gave them.

All that to say, run the race ladies, trust Jesus to be your all this next year, that if you are married....... your sweet man will be your priority, if you have children, that you will teach them throughout the day about their Father in Heaven and to love and respect their Daddy........it is important, it is our calling as Momma's. How will they know, if we do not teach them. And ladies, when life is hard.......press in to the One who knows you best........trust Him and His Word.......He will walk you through to the end.

This is so precious. Yesterday received an email from a sweet friend who lives in France. Emma asked if I knew about a ministry called, Amazima Ministries. I had not. I didn't look it up at the time I read her email (but was going to later that evening). Later in the day.........no KIDDING, the Lord took me via another site to AMAZIMA Ministries. God is so WONDERFUL! Just another way He shows me He is in the details! God wanted to bless me......so I could tell Emma!!!!!! I went to this precious young lady named Katie's blog. She runs Amazima Ministries. This morning I listened to the rest of her testimony (along her sidebar). This precious young lady was a breathe of fresh air to my soul. She talked about her plans when she first started her ministry.........then how He came to set her plans in place. I so agree with this. We have our hearts desires.......but He wants us to know that "we are His heart desire and He knows what is best for us". That is what He has done with my precious family... I am realizing even more deeply that.......... this morning.

We are having lots of fun on the farm........lots of chatter and I am hiding all of it in my heart! "When I was made from God"..........Reid, 4 years old, not sure what he was talking about.....that's okay......at least he knows he was made by God!!!!!!! Vitaliy is having a wonderful time with all his cousins..........that blesses me big time! Love being a Grammie.........will be spending my time today with them. Asked the 5 older boys who ages between 10-13, if they will always come to the farm for Grammie and Poppa Camp.....they said "yes", they are signing a contract today!!!!!! Heehee!

Love you all...........trust your day will be a sweet one! I have a few more days home before I have to go back to serve at the college......preparing my heart. God has been so good to us, so I have to try not to be sad!!!!!!

Well I am off to do some cooking for the kids Snowman Party!

Hello Precious Sweet Ladies,

Good Morning...........it is going to be a busy day..........10 adorable, precious cutie grandchildren will be descending on the farm all throughout the day!!!!!!!!!!!! Now think of this....10 pillows..... 10 sleeping bags...plus a blanket....ten toothbrushes, 8 deodorant bars, coats.....hats.....socks.... sweatshirts.....boots and shoes....now that sounds like fun!!!!!!! It will be for them. They can't wait, nor can their Grammie and Poppa. I have started asking the parents to bring snacks........it is impossible for me to keep them fed between meals. The water they go through is unbelievable!!!!!!!! They burn off so many calories as they work hard on their fort. I will try to get some pic's.

Oh, when I went shopping one of you prayed I would find some good deals!!!!!! I did!!!! I can squeeze more out of money then anyone! I am a very picky lady when it comes to shopping. I found some fun things, will be fun to wear them!

I got a pair of flannel pj's (keeps me warm in my breezy little farmhouse!), new slippers, 2 sweaters, a really cute feminine zip up vest (I can put a scarf with), 4 long sleeve tee's and I still have money to spend. I think the Lord blessed me don't you....... and I had soooooo much fun. I am not much of a shopper.....when you don't have it to spend....you don't. This was Gift money and that is when I will spend it!!!!!!! The girls were so cute and helpful with me! They also did some shopping, so we had some fun times making memories! They are wise little shoppers.

One more thing.....some ladies have not received their tea bags and cards. I do know that there has been some sickness, so that might be the case. If you have not received it, please let me know and I will check on things for you!!!!!!

We had over 200 entries to the Gooseberry Patch/Prairie Flower Farm party!!!!!!!!!!!! Eeck! Loved it.....so many sweet ladies and loved reading about the special things you made for your CHRISTmas season. I would love to have each recipe if you would ever share!!!!! Needless to say, I will not have time to tell who won today........it will take some time to register all the votes. I will have who won by tomorrow. Thank you for each one that went over to Gooseberry Patch. They enjoyed the encouragement and so did I. I wish I could meet each one of you ladies that come to my blog. Today I am off with my girls to go shopping........for me. For CHRISTmas I was given a gift card from my sweet man and the girls of $150.00 to get some new clothes. Much needed!!!!!!! Then off to a CHRISTmas party with some of our friends. Can't wait to see them. It will be a fun day!

A Special Evening Planned!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Sweet ladies!

This morning we had a beautiful sunrise.

Listened to His Word........ this morning, blessed my soul! Had one of the girl's girlfriend spend the night last night.........giggles plus!!!!!!! I turned the scripture on for her as she was eating her breakfast. I pray that it ministered to her as she had to leave and go to serve children that need a lot of love..........our Micah is one special young lady! When God placed her in our lives........we were not to be the same. Her love for Christ is catching. She has been a faithful friend to our girls........they are blessed and they know it! So is she.

I lit my brand new "Winter" candle in my little farm kitchen! The smell is wonderful. CHRISTmas gift from one of my girls. I will use it for special times.........like now! Tonight we have company coming for dinner........and I am in the kitchen working away. I want it real special. The couples who are coming have been in our lives for 30 plus years.........we love them and we want them to walk away blessed!!!!!

I looked in my Rush-Hour Recipes (the one we are having the party for with Gooseberry Patch), to find a recipe that would go with what I am making..........a very simple meal. I was told one time by an older women, what ever you do make it simple..... so you can enjoy it yourself also! I do that! I needed french bread, but I didn't have it on hand.........so I used my favorite recipe to make some. It never ever fails me!!!!!! When I went to go open to the recipe it had on the top in my hand writing "fisher's of men". Also Isaiah 40:30-31. This is an older cookbook of mine from when our kids were young. Made me smile.

Easy French Bread

Makes 2 loaves

400 degrees for 20 minutes

2 pkg. dry yeast

1/2 c. warm water
1/2 t. sugar
Combine:
2 T. sugar
2 T. fat (butter)
2 t. salt
2 c. boiling water

Cool to lukewarm add add yeast mixture.

Stir in:
7 1/2-8 c. flour
(I used 6 c. unbleached flour and 2 cups whole wheat flour)

Knead 20 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl. turning once. Let rise until doubled (1 hour). Punch down and let rest 15 minutes. Divide dough in half. On floured surface, roll each half to a 12"x15" rectangle. Roll up. Starting at the 15" edge. Place loaves on greased cookie sheets and make 4 or 5 slashes diagonally across tops. Let rise until double.
Mix and brush on'
1 egg, beaten
2 T. milk
Sprinkle on, if desired some sesame seeds.

Rush-Hour Recipes Cookbook

Best-Ever Garlic Bread

3/4 c. butter, softened

6 T. mayonnaise

3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese

2 T. Fresh parsley, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 t. dried oregano

1 loaf French Bread, halved lengthwise (I will not cut it this way, I will be using for sandwiches)

In a small bowl, blend together all ingredients except bread. Spread butter mixture over cut sides of bread. Wrap bread in w pieces of aluminum foil; place cute-side up on a baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Unwrap bread and discard foil; place bread on a broiler pan. Broil until golden, about 2 minutes. Slice; serve warm. Makes on loaf.

I will do the steps on single slices of bread. We will make into sandwiches.....I will tell you what we think.

Beef and turkey slices, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers. Light homemade ranch and mustard will be served on top of the bread. I think it will be delicious!!!!!!!

Also have chicken on the stove making broth and break apart chicken for our favorite Chicken Rice Soup. I will add rice, carrots and celery. Simple.......it is one of our favorite soups!

Not sure what we will have for dessert........I have to look through some other Gooseberry Patch Cookbooks!!!!!!! Smile!

Hellooooo Sweet Ladies,

I am drinking water, from one of the glasses I use at CHRISTmas thyme and have a cup of nice warm cup of Celestial Seasoning's Peppermint tea........(from a sweet lady), so nice on a cold winter's day! I am drinking it out of one of our new Jesus is the Gift cup. I will be trying all the teas out that were sent to me from all you precious ladies.........I was touched by your kindness! Did everyone get their tea bags in the mail? Please let us know and keep up the friendships if you can. Don't forget to pray for Sherry. I think it is today or tomorrow when she gets her wrist set..........Hurt!

Listening to CHRISTmas music...still.............keeps my heart focused on Him during the day!

Working on a new pattern (can't wait to show you!!!!!!).........hope to have it soon.......well I am working on a few patterns that I was not able to get finished on our vacation. I have 8 days left of vacation days. I am savoring each one. The Lord has blessed us so much. We don't get paid for the time we are off, but it never fails how the Lord supplies. It is so precious of Him, but I know that He supplies just what we need. Sometimes in my flesh I think we need more..........but it is a trust issue with me and He knows how to lovingly show me that He wants to have control of that. We got an order for two of our patterns. There is a story behind the patterns.....some day I will share.

I got a new Better Homes Wax Warmer........it is so beautiful and of course it is red and it has Blueberry Muffin warming..........sending off the most wonderful aroma in my little farmhouse! You can click and buy one yourself if you like.

Now I am sure that you wondering what I will be eating? PIE........Coconut Cream PIE! A few bites..........all.......thorough out the day!!!!!!!!!!!!! I go running around the farm a few times if I see that it lands on my hips!!!!!!!!!!

CHRISTmas........It Is All About A Baby!

Dear precious women all over the world.........you are my gifts.....and I am a blessed lady! This last year has been truly the most precious year as far as my blog. I never knew that when I started it, that the Lord had a plan and you would all be a part of it. That the God of the Universe would let me know all of you who let me know that you are there! When I first started writing, I had know idea it could be so fun. You have encouraged me just when I needed it. You would be Jesus' voice to encourage me to keep running the race........you gave me giggles when I just wanted to cry......(having to wear the silly hat at work) and pictures in my mind of what you might look like! Smile! Today we celebrate the best gift of all......... Jesus........he came as a babe........and became the Savior of the world! I trust you know Him as that.......here is my prayer for you on this CHRISTmas Day.

Father in Heaven, you know how much each and every precious lady means to me........the ones that You have brought to my blog for one reason.........so that they were loved.....by YOU through me! From the beginning you have been my purpose for writing and telling my story about life on a farm....... Your golden thread sewn delicately into the tapestry of my life...... so that it would be a reminder for those who come after me.......my journal. I thank you for each lady here that represents a gift from You........with her own thread represented and uniquely woven into my life. Each one has not been taken for granite Father.......each one has become very special and I thank you for them. They are precious women as you know. For those who gave to bring our once orphan boy home to our family.........here he is with "his precious family". He had so much fun last night as he opened his presents with his cousins and "family".......boy that sounds good. Our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers and gifts you gave so it was possible to bring him to America. He is doing well with his English!!!!!!! Please keep them in your prayers.

I am off to my farm kitchen to do some serious baking!!!!!!! Family will be coming tonight for dinner!!! Can't wait........memories will be made!

Hello sweet ladies,

The house is almost ready.........the son's and their families will be arriving at our farm early this evening........the same farm that the boys would come to when Grandma and Grandpa were alive. My mother in love would stay up most of the night getting everything prepared. What a treasure of memories I have stored in my thoughts today. I remember how excited I would feel when my sweet man and I would drive the 5 miles from our farm with our chattering boys in the back seats to the farm we live at now. The butterflies were going off in my tummy as well. I wonder if our children and their children feel the same. They know that when we all sit down before opening presents, Poppa will read the CHRISTmas story first. Oh how I wish Grandma Jo and Grandpa Jack could be here. How life changes......now we are the Grandma and Grandpa. I love being the Grammie, but I so wish we could have it the other way too. Smile! It is kind of a helpless feeling when your parents are gone. My Momma is still here, but with Alzheimer's it changes things. Hard!

I hope that your day will be filled with making memories........they never leave you do they. It is a gift I think from the Father.......some for those of you are alone.....all you have is memories......know that I am praying for you......for those who are going through very tough times.......I have you before the Father also. Whatever situation you are in God is not far...just speak to Him......tell Him your everythings...and don't believe that He isn't.......truth is that He does!!!!!!!!

Speaking of praying...........one of our Tea Party Across the Miles ladies was in a wreck this last Monday. She has a broken wrist, hurt shoulder and neck. It must hurt bad. Please pray for Sherry. I am thankful we all are a part of a family of sorts......precious! Thank you!

Snowflake Sugar Cookies..........For The Mail Lady

Good Morning Sweet Ladies,

I got up early this morning, the sun is just coming up in the east.......it is going to be a beautiful day I heard, the house is quiet, CHRISTmas music playing in the background playing lightly, the little fluffs are in the corner pecking and peeping away. He is a little blue banty cochin. I hope it is a boy. The last one was killed by the dogs. He won't be full blood, but that is okay.

Can't believe that in a few days CHRISTmas will be here! I tried to hold on to every moment..........to enjoy everything about the season and where did the time go? I have enjoyed the lights, the sounds, the meaning of the birth of CHRIST. It seems that every year I learn a little bit more about some aspect of the birth of CHRIST.

Deluxe Sugar Cookies

Thought you might like to see these amazing cookies that my Tay made last night. She came and asked if she could bake Sugar Cookies for the mail lady today.......... I realized that the baton had been handed over one more time. I love it when I see the things I have wanted to see come out of their lives........ like being a servant. She thought of it all on her own....makes this Momma smile! She spent hours mixing, rolling out and cutting out each cookie. Then she decorated each one so beautifully. They are our favorite sugar cookie. Thought that I would share our recipe. I am sure it is used by many, because it is in the Betty Crocker's Cookbook. We like to add a drop or two of almond extract!!!!

Deluxe Sugar Cookies

1 cup butter, softened

1 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

1 farm fresh egg (I wish I could share mine with you)

1 tea. vanilla

1/2 tea. almond extract (a must)

2 1/2 cup unbleached flour

1 tea. soda

1 tea. cream of tartar

Mix thoroughly butter, confectioners' sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour, soda and cream of tartar. Cover; chill 2 to 3 hours.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Divide dough in half. Roll each half 3/16 inch thick on lightly floured cloth covered board. Cut into desired shapes, sprinkle with granulated sugar, we don't do this step because we frost ours. Bake on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 7-8 minute.

Butter Cream Frosting

1/3 cup soft butter

3 cups confectioners' sugar

1 tea. vanilla

1 tea. almond extract
about 2 Tbl. milk

Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla, almond and milk; beat until frosting is smooth and of a spreading consistency.

His Momma must have loved Him so! I do too!

Been getting the house ready for all our family to come to celebrate Jesus! This pic is one of my favorite pieces I put out in our Home every year.

I enjoy using old windows for decorating.........anytime of year.

This little shelf has been in my home.......... forever!!!!!!! One of my favorite pieces......most would throw away. My Momma could never understand how I liked the old! I just change the flowers for each season. My little reindeer stay there all year long.

Last night my sweet man brought me the eggs. The pullets are laying little tiny eggs still. Thought you might like to see some more. Sweetness, if you ask me!

Thank you ladies for making the Tea Party Across The Miles so special for me. I had know idea that I would receive the teas also!!!!!!! I have been filling my mason jar as I receive each one. Very very sweet of you!

Finishing Things Up Today!

Hello Sweet Ladies,

The Daddy and Momma Cardinal are eating seeds out our kitchen window everyday. This has happened for............I don't know how many years. It was done my Mother in Love.......then when she passed away it was done by my Father in Love......and now it is being done by our family. If you are faithful to keep the pan filled with grain and seeds they will come and eat. This morning a red headed woodpecker came. By the time I had my camera ready it flew away. Like Tay said, "he will be back". Just another blessing on the farm.

Today I will be finishing up on the handmade gifts. I wish I could tell, but I will after CHRISTmas. Two of the little girls read Grammies blog sometimes!

I am enjoying my day......hope you are enjoying yours! Know you are being thought about.

What A Pretty Day It Is On The Farm!

Good morning sweet peas!!!!!!!!!

I am moving a little slower this morning. My head, arms, shoulders, elbows, hands........you name it, it aches! Last night we had to go to our Caf Party at the college. Before I left I went out to our son's truck to take some of the things the grandkids left......... I opened the huge door and yup, I flipped on my back! FLAT ON THE SNOWY GROUND!!!!! I had these fluffy boots with nooooooo traction on the bottom. Now I am sure it was a funny site to see........I hurried and got myself back up on my feet, but I think I moved things that I haven't moved for awhile. Now even though I am 59, I am a buzzzzzz. I can't help it, but today I am not quite the buzz I usually am. Ouchy alllllll over! A little prayer sent up would be so appreciated.......so much to do!

Before we left the farm last night, I took a few pic's. The sun was just going down and was beautiful! The farm looked like it was a glow!

The trees and everything else had ice all over every branch!!!!!!

I was shooting pic's and turned........there was Mr. Turkey!!!!!!!! Scared me half to death! Remember he chased me around Grandpa's truck? He was all fanned out so pretty, but I was careful to keep my distance!

The farmland looked like a winter wonderland!

This tree was a sparkle lit up by the sunset!

We left the farm and when we got to the top of the hill not far from our farm, I took this pic.

This morning the sun came up and all the trees are twinkling. Beautimus!!!!!!!

Cookbook

Quick Brown Bread

1 c. milk

1 T. white- vinegar

2 c. whole-wheat flour (I use 1 whole-wheat and

1 unbleached white flour)

1 t. salt

1- 1/2 t. baking powder

1/2 t. baking soda

1 egg, beaten

1/2 c. molasses

1/4 c. shortening, melted and cooled (I use butter)

Combine milk and vinegar in a small bowl; let stand for a few minutes. In a separate large bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Mix thoroughly and set aside. Add remaining ingredients to milk mixture. Add milk mixture to four mixture: stir just enough to barely mix. Pour batter into a well-greased 9"x5" or 3 mini loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center tests clean. Makes one loaf.

I made the bread into 3 little mini loaves.

One of my favorite parts to a Gooseberry Patch Cookbook is all the beautiful illustrations and hints. This is such a sweet one!

We have been listening to sermons today on the CHRISTmas Story as we do our work today! It has been a blessing!

IT SNOWED!!!!!!!!!! And There Is MORE COMING!

Hello Sweet Ladies,

Thank you to all who have joined the party!!!!!!!!!! Thank you also for all who have sent me tea! I have it in a jar........you are all so sweet!

Yesterday we were on a road trip for most of the day.........rain rain rain! I didn't care, I was stitchin as we drove. I love it when we go somewhere, because that is my time to get to do whatever I want! Love it. Did some last minute shopping later in the afternoon and my sweet man took me on a date......so sweet! When we came out of the restaurant and it was SNOWING! Like huge quarter size flakes falling from the sky.....thousands of them. Everything was covered and I was one happy Alaskan/Kansan farm girl!!! We had a half hour drive home. That was a little bit scary for me, but my sweet man was used to driving in Alaska. Ice was underneath the snow! We had to go 30 miles per hour all the way home.

My sweet man took these next two pictures for me.

Love this huge elm tree that is up our lane.

Ice is all over the trees........limbs are falling.....that is not fun in the spring to have to pick up! If you click on the pic you can see the ice better.....it really is beautiful, just not safe to drive in!

I woke up this morning and Shelby was in her nesting spot outside the kitchen window, like she always is. She was getting snowed on, she didn't care. She is such an indepentent "GIRLY"!!!!!!!!

I wanted to go out to see what it looked like. Got on my farmgirl boots.......my fav's!

I know they are not very "purty".........but love the feathers!!!!!!

Isn't this beautiful? It is the chicken fence.

Pic of the turkey's feet prints. I miss it when we would see after the snow had fallen all these little mice and shrew feet prints in Alaska. I could just imagine them dancing under the moon light while everyone else was asleep! Yes..... I have an imagination!

My sweet Tressa is still real weak from the flu, but better.........love this pic of her kitty, Sophie. They are staying warm inside!

I went to the milk barn this morning to let the girlies and boys out! This time I was prepared with camera to show you how they fly. They were adorable this morning. Hope you enjoy the video!
