A Little Giveaway Drawing!

Some of you may not know that my SISTER is coming to our farm for a VISIT. Today we will pick her up at the Wichita Airport. We are each other's best friend. She lives in Nevada and I live in Kansas, so the visits are maybe 3 times a year. We have not been together in a December, for I don't how long. This time will be so special for us. She will be able to see our momma that is in a nursing home. Our mom is 77 and has Alzheimer's. It is like she is there and yet not. She can only look at you with her eyes. Sometimes I can get her to smile, so I think she knows who I am. It is one of the hardest things in our life. I said one! I always cry when I have to leave her. I don't think this part of my life will ever ever be easy.

When my sister gets here we will laugh, sew, cook and talk for hours. My daughters and Shannon will cook in our little farm kitchen and I will listen as they interact with one another. I love it!!!!!! We will talk about spiritual things and get a little closer to the Lord together. She loves Jesus and so do I and that is so special!!!!!!!!!!!

We will go shopping at some quilt shops and come home and stitch up something special. Speaking about stitching! I have just been going on about us, but the real reason for this post is............. we are going to have a CELEBRATION PARTY GIVEAWAY FOR SHANNON!!!!!!!! That is why I am having a giveaway. I will give this 5 1/2" mitten to some special person! Now can you do me a big favor and welcome her by leaving her a comment? She follows my blog and while she is here we are going to make her up a blog. Yes!!! She reads all the comments on my blog and just loves them. So this giveaway is for her. You could tell her Merry Christmas or maybe a special memory that you have had with your sis! Just anything will do. Thank you soooooooo much! You are all truly special ladies!!!!!!! She will be so surprised when she opens up PRAIRIE FLOWER FARM!!!!!!!! smile!!!!!!! She is having some heartache in her life and I hope we can all love her up!! Blogging style. Love you all!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Linda and Shannon, I hope you have a wonderful visit. There is just nothing like getting together with family, especially when they are your best friends! My mom, my sister and I are all best friends and have the best times together. I don't get to as often now that I have moved 6 hours away, but that still doesn't stop me from hopping in the car and driving 6 hours to get in some girl time with my favorite girls! I know that every second you spend together on your visit is going to be so special. I'm sorry that you are going through this with your mom, it breaks my heart for you.
I can't wait to have another blog to read!

  16. Merry Christmas Shannon! Have a wonderful time with your sister and family! I never had a sister (five brothers) and my husband only has brothers, so when three of my brothers finally got married--yee haaaa! Sisters! I have a very special relationship with one of them, and you would think we were born sisters except we look nothing alike. She is blonde, little, and cute and I am dark-haired, lanky and...well, not so cute. But on the inside we are SISTERS! What a joy! I am excited for both of you!

Oh, thank you for this cute giveaway. I already get your emails.

Shannon, when you start your blog, please have an email subscribe button for those of us who are too spacey or non-tech savvy to figure out RSS feeds and all. THANK! ;)

  26. Shannon:

I know your sister is so happy to have you for a visit! There's nothing quite like a sister! I know you are going to have such a great time together. I love crafting and sharing it with someone I love makes it even more fun. I also know what you are experiencing with your dear mama with Alzheimer's. My dear sweet mama has it too, and it's the saddest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I am so sad that it came upon us so quickly without us knowing what was happening. My dear sweet mama will smile at me too, and there seems to be a glimmer of recognition, or so I tell myself, but cry....yes, every single time. You never get too old to cry about something that pains your heart so much! I hope you gals have a wonderful time and that you get your blog set up too. I don't have one yet, but one day when I have more time....Merry Christmas to you, Shannon!! In everything, give thanks, GrandmaSoucie

My sister comes in town each year to Mom's and my kids and I all go over and bake cookies for Christmas. Now, my youngest brother comes too. It is alot of fun and a tradition we all cherish. 43. Hello Linda, Well it's funny you mention sisters and your going to get to visit with yours for a time. I also have a sister and she is the most wonderful thing God could have ever given me. We share so many things. We both love the Lord, we love to sew, and do crafts, & cook, and shop. I could go on and on.
I am a follower, and I believe I get your emails. I will post about your giveaway on my blog side bar.

  44. Hi Shannon,
How blessed you are to have a sister who is your best friend. I hope your visit is all that you are looking forward to.

How exciting that you will be joining the world of blogging. You are about to have more fun than you ever imagined possible. I look forward to joining your blog, too.

Will you please let your sister know that I have only just discovered her blog, but I am now following and, of course, had a bit of a chat with you and I have put her button on my blog? Thank you so much.

Shannon and Linda, I surely hope we get to visit again, sometime soon. Merry Christmas!

I'm already a follower and signed up for the emails and look forward to each one. A big welcome to Shannon, God bless your time together. Your photos of decorations are so charming. You have good ideas. I am so blessed with a great family but a sister is something I don't have. My mom was the only girl in her family and my daughter is the only girl in our family. We are kindred spirits and have a good time when we get together. I will put your snowman button on my blog. Thanks for making it so easy to enter.

  48. Hi Linda!
New to this blog. I follow it and signed up for the emails. I also put the little snowman button on my blog, but found out it does not work somehow- so I just put an extra textlink to your giveaway in a comment...

I really can relate very well to the part in your message about your mother; my grandmother (84 years)has dementia and usually doesn´t recognize me, but last time I visited, her face suddenly "cleared" and I think, there was a glimpse of recognition, which made me really happy. My mother is caring for/nursing her and my grandfather (96 yearrs) and it really gets to her... Unfortunately I life at the other end of the country and get to see them very irregularly.

All the best and joyous advent to you,
have a wonderful time with your sister,
    Viola.

  49. Comment especially for Shannon!
Hello Shannon, I wish you a great stay with your sister! I "only" have a brother, but I´m so glad that we get along well and our relationship got a lot closer over the last couple of years. It´s such a gift to have him, also for sharing thoughts about our parents,... Could not imagine being a single child or not being in touch with him.
    All the best to you,
    Viola.
