Another Recipe from 101 Breakfast and Brunch Cookbook!!!!!!!

Good morning sweet ladies!!!!!!!!!

It has been busy around here.....I know I keep saying that, but it is! I hope that you all have had a more relaxed one!!!!!!

The reason I have been busy is because I have been in the kitchen......baking and cooking away using the 101 Breakfast and Brunch Recipes Cookbook!!!!!!!

You are going to like these simple easy recipes.

Honey Crunch Granola
4 c. long cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 c. unsalted slivered almonds
1/4 c. unsalted sunflower kernels
1/2 c. honey
1/2 c butter
2. t. cinnamon
1/8 t. ground cloves
1 5. vanilla extract
1/8 t. salt

Mix oats, almonds and sunflower kernels in a large bowl; set aside. Combine hone, butter, spices, vanilla and salt in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on hight setting until butter and honey are melted; stir well. Pour honey mixture over oat mixture; toss until well coated. spread on a lightly greased 15" x 10' jelly roll pan. Bake until lightly golden. Allow to cool; store in an airtight container. Makes 8 servings.

Grandma's Warm Breakfast Fruit
3 apples peeled, cored and thickly sliced
1 orange, peeled and sectioned
3/4 c. raisins
12. dried plums, chopped
3 c. plus 3 T. water, divided
1/2 c. sugar
1/2. t. cinnamon
1 T. corstarch
Garnish: granola

Combine fruit and 3 cups water in a sauge pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in sugar and  cinnamon. In a small bow, mix together cornstarch and remaining water; stir into fruit mixture. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Spoon into bowls; top with granola to serve. Serves 6 to 8.

This would be a sweet gift to make up for that someone! Put the fruit in an old mason jar, scoop the granola in a cellophane bag with a ribbon tied around the top. Line a basket with a pretty cloth napkin. Add plastic spoons, paper plates, napkins,  granola and jar of fruit.........I know you can find someone to give this to for nooooooo reason at all. Just because you care is reason enough...right? It is really very nummy and  a beautiful breakfast for that special person!

Hugs to your day.....I am working on orders.......can't wait to get them finished!

Oh and thank you to all who also follow on fb.......you made my girls and I laugh so hard last night. It was a party for sure!!!!!

I will try to get a pic of the new hair. It turned out perfect for Tressy's first perm job......course all you ladies that got on last night helped her immensely. Hahaha!

Hugs, me

Have A SWEET Day LADIES

Hi..........sweet ladies.......from my farm house.

This is not my porch.......but I would like it to be........like everything about it. Cozy......the wicker couch.....big puffy pillows......quilt.....little bench with refreshing drink......love the pink and strawberries placed on the edge of the glass.......bottles filled with red flowers.....placed in a wooden bottle box......only thing missing......is a bunch of sweet PFFarmgirls sitting and sharing their stories!!!!!! That means You! Okay for a comment if you don't mind......pretend......tell me one thing about YOU.....what you like to do, where you were born.....if you have children.....ANYTHING~! PLEASE DO THIS.....just as if we were really sitting on the porch .......together~

Today is 2 weeks away from the college bakery!!!!!! I still haven't done all I wanted to get accomplished before going back, but I have done a lot of things so I am not complaining. I am asking the Lord's help to finish things up!!!!!!  He will give me the strength to get it done and the strength to leave my farmhouse a few hours a day! I know He will....it surely will not be on my own strength!!!! I would just stay home every day if I could.....but He wants to use our family......for HIS GLORY, because we do LOVE HIM A LOT so we will go!

but those who HOPE in the LORD will RENEW THEIR STRENGTH. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not GROW WEARY, they will WALK and not Be FAINT. Isaiah 40:31

This verse encourages me! I will put my HOPE in the LORD. I don't need to rely on my own hope.....it will IN THE LORD

Please pray for our family if you wouldn't mind. It is always hard for us "girls" to leave the farm. We are soooooo grateful for a job that lets us be home during the summer though. WE love farm life!

Hugs sweet ladies.......know you are being prayed for......by me..to Jesus......because I love you all a lot!

Linda

Caring For One Another! A Good Thing!

Hello sweet ladies,

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
                                        Philippians 2:4

I must say something very special happened yesterday......ladies coming together leaving prayers, notes of encouragement and also ways to help this precious "sweet man" and his sweet wife (read last post). No short of amazing. Every time I would get an email.....I would be so blessed to see what the Lord was doing through so many of you ladies. Thank you. The thing I am seeing happen here on Prairie Flower Farm over and over is how you ladies, whether you write or not, are becoming a caring, thoughtful group to the ladies. Carol and her "sweet man" needed prayer yesterday and you all did that for them. Another neat thing was one sweet lady wrote an idea that would maybe help them. I am going to put up some of what she wrote. One reason is so that if this ever would happen to any of us, we would know what to do. I would not know this and maybe it is the same for you. I won't put her name. We sure can learn from one another can't we?

Dear Carol, My heart and Prayers go out to you and your Husband. I know what you're going through as I went through it with my 85+ years Mother who was a slight built, spindly little soul with severe osteoporosis. She broke her hip at the same time she broke her shoulder and didn't have a moment's distress from the hip...but the shoulder would not let her rest, no matter what we did to try to alleviate it. Dr. had put her arm in a sling but every time she tried to get up to go to the bathroom, etc. the arm swung out naturally and caused her so much pain it was unbelievable...and the "after-pain" went on for hours. It wasn't until we borrowed an "immobilizer band" from our school's football team, that she got relief and was able to sleep. Her arm was still in the sling and the immobilizer wrapped around her chest and upper arm and held it in place--there by keeping it from moving and allowing it to heal with no constant irritation. One other thing I will strongly suggest you do..buy a good-sized package of soft, thick pads (not telfa), kind of like kotex and powder them good and place it in his armpit so the skin doesn't adhere to itself. He'll be in the immobilizer a long time. I am not a nurse..I was a nurse's aide years and years ago...but my suggestions come from experience. The first night after we put the immobilizer around Mom was the first and best night sleep she had had in many days. She found that sleeping in her easy chair was best for her..that laying flat in her bed was "too flat' and difficult if you can understand my meaning. Here is a link about the immobilizers--the one I'm speaking about is the first one on the very last row.

That's as close as the one we used-- they should be available wherever other medical supplies are sold--our local drug store here in a tiny corner of Northeastern Pa.even handled them along with the usual rib belts, splints, etc. I wish you the best--it sure is not easy to hear the one you love suffer with pain.
Take Care and God Bless

Hope this post encourages you.......if you have a prayer need,  please leave it in the comments or write me by email prairie flower farm at g mail dot com  I will not share unless you would want it shared, if you send me an email. I would never do that, but if you want others to come along side you, this place is where we are doing that. I am so excited that we can pray for one another.

I am growing these flowers in my north garden.......they are called vinca and they do good in heat and wet. They are a darker red then what they are showing, but one of my favorite flowers! Just because they don't fail me!

Blessings to your SONday.......
trusting He will give you rest,

Linda

A Little Cooler This Morning On The Farm!

Hello sweet ladies,

Last night I received an email from a Prairie Flower Farmgirl asking for prayer for her sweet man. I asked for permission to put  up her request.....she said yes! Thats a sweet lady!

My husband has had an accident the other day, he was out playing with our grandchildren and fell and broke his shoulder. He has muscular dystrophy so no muscle mass in the upper body so the break was pretty bad. We just got him home from the hospital as they said he just had to go home and endure the pain for a few months. Where some would have gotten surgery they will not operate on him because of his MD and his bad heart as well. The doctors said the chances of complications are very likely. Please pray for a speedy recovery for him and wisdom in how to help him through all the pain for me. My poor sweet man  is in so much pain he actually cries which he hardly ever does. My heart goes out to him. Thank you for your prayers. ... Carol

I can't imagine the pain that he must be going through. Please pray ladies for Carol and her "sweet man". God will help him during this time.

Heavenly Father.....thank you for your presence. We love you and thank you that we can come any time of the day and worship you, thank you......and talk with you. We ask that you would cover Carol and "her sweet man" with everything they need during this time of suffering. Draw them close to yourself please. We ask that you would raise up families to come along side them....and care for them. Give us creative ideas Lord in how to best minister to this precious family. Please knit his shoulder together quickly....you  know the pain only to well. Give him rest Lord when he lays to sleep. Protect him from the pain killers. We thank you Father....and ask all this in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen

If you would like to send a card to Carol you can send it to me and I will get them to her. If you want to leave a prayer or encouragement.....leave it in the comments. Thank you!

IT RAINED AND WE ARE THANKFUL!!!!!!

Good morning sweet ladies,

It is one of those beautiful mornings.......windows open......cool breeze going through our farm house.......lit a candle while I am posting and very very happy because We GOT RAIN!!! Thank you to all who prayed with last night on facebook. The ground is soaked.....it really came down off and on all night. 1/3" of pure God Rain.......falling all over our garden and farm. So needed!!!!! Spent some time in my garden this morning...it was lovely! Thanking the Lord! We prayed so hard last night. The storm looked like it was going to miss us...........it didn't.....we had to say thanks over and over! It was obvious to us He stepped in!

I walked over by my cantaloupe plant......rain on the leaves.......looked so pretty, big rain drops!!!

The corn looks good. It isn't edible corn.....it is pretty ornamental corn. A friend gave it to us so we could try. The rain will help it to grow better. God's water is the best!!!!!! If you have ever farmed or had a garden you know what I am talking about! It is so amazing what rain can do. We as farmers are dependent on the Lord's provisions. It is good to be that~ dependent on Him that is.

The Lemon Verbena plant is looking gorgeous!!!!!! If you would like some dried leaves, I can send some in the mail for $2.00, that includes shipping. It would be a zip lock baggie full with leaves. Let me know. Put lemon verbena in the subject line. prairie flower farm at g mail dot com  We take paypal, check or money order. You can use it in the Lemon Verbena Bread recipe or make tea, scroll down on the right hand side of my blog. It is the best best tasting bread! Also can be made into mini muffins.....cute for a party.

I had to tie up some of the branches on the tomato plants. They were all weighed down because of the heavy rain on each leaf.

You know how the covers of any Gooseberry Patch Cookbook is just so beautiful? Wellll, I am starting to put their cookbooks in my cupboard behind my dishes! When I open my cupboard doors.......this is what I see. Cute little idea... if I say so myself. Smile! I thought it up...by myself! I really needed some extra room for some of my Gooseberry Cookbooks and this seemed a perfect place. Plus I get to see the front covers every time I open a cupboard door. It hardly takes any space up at all.

is still going on until August 4th.
Come and sign up if you haven't already!!!!!!

Hugs to your day!!!!!!!

Last night, I put on my facebook this picture of a pie my Taylor made. Oh my was it wonderful with a little slice of vanilla ice cream on the top. Ladies were wanting the recipe so. Taylor said to use lots of apples. We had a farm family drop by with a huge seed bag full of granny smith and golden delicious! So she used the granny smith for better flavor and it was so nummy!

Apple Pie Filling
10 apples for one pie cut and sliced
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. flour
1 tea. cinnamon
Mix dry ingredients together before mixing into sliced apples.

Butter Pie Crust
2 1/2 cups flour
1t. salt
1 t. sugar
1 cup butter
6-8 T. cold cold cold iced water

Mix flour, salt sugar salt and butter in food processor......adding water slowly. Mix until it comes to a ball. Roll out 1/2 of dough for the bottom and place into one pie pan. Roll another out for the top. Decorate as you would like.

Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degree and cook to 30-40 minutes.

My friend Susan asked me if I put cheddar cheese on the top.....forgot about doing that. I will be doing that today with my 2nd slice of pie!

Hugs to your day,

Linda

If you haven't signed up for the Gooseberry Patch/Prairie Flower Cookbook party........go HERE!

P.S. I haven't said anything about the shootings in Colorado. My heart breaks for our country. I know this may bother some, but I can't believe even going to that movie to begin with. Everything is getting all mixed up. Right is wrong and wrong is right in the eyes of some. I know the Lord said there would be a day when that was true......ladies I encourage you to teach your children.....protect them. Grammies........you can have a huge part in your grand children's lives also. If you don't live next to them.....send them letters with truth written between the lines. Tell them what you are praying for them about.......it is a good thing. We have been encouraged by the Lord to train our children in good.

Our daughter Tressa read this to our family the other night. I was so encouraged. I do know that lots of miracles have happened in Colorado. God has not left those who live there. Man gets to choose every day who he serves. God picks up the pieces, I am thankful. Read this story if you would like. A miracle inside the Aurora Shooting: One victim's story

Gooseberry Patch/Prairie Flower Farm Party!!!!!

Hello Sweet Ladies,

Notice my little chicks on the left side of this picture.....their Momma hatched them this last week....just for me! Sweetness!

IT IS TIME FOR A

Gooseberry Patch & Prairie Flower Farm Giveaway Party

July 24th - August 4th

Another Review for Gooseberry Patch........now you know me......it is one of my favorite things to do! Especially when I get to show you something new from Gooseberry Patch, they are the sweetest! Are they not some of our favorite ladies? Plus "YOU" also make our parties sooooo much fun!

Okay......now let's begin. I have really enjoyed going through

the "New Gooseberry Patch101 Breakfast & Brunch Recipes Cookbook. Looking at their wonderful recipes......and so many are healthy for you!
Beautiful pictures too. I will show you this next week and a half different recipes I am trying so you can try them also.

This morning I made this for my sweet man........he said it was Real Good! We have so many farm fresh eggs here on the farm, so I thought it would be nice to start out with an egg recipe! Very easy to do.

Farmers' Market Omelet
2 t. olive oil
1 slice bacon, diced
2 T. onion, chopped
2 T. zucchini, diced
5 cherry tomatoes, quartered
1/2 t. fresh thyme, minced
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 c fontina cheese, shredded

Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add bacon and onion; cook and stir until bacon is crisp and onion is tenter. Add zucchini, tomatoes and thyme. Allow to cook until zucchini is soft and juice from tomatoes has slightly evaporated. Lower heat to medium and stir in eggs. Cook, lifting edges to allow uncooked egg to flow underneath. When eggs are almost fully cooked, sprinkle with cheese and fold over. Serves one.

I had some bananas and pineapple, so I made up this drink. Very good. I put ice in the drink when I blended it and made it kind of slushy.

Feel-Good Shake
2 bananas, sliced
2 c. milk
2 c. none-fat vanilla yogurt
1 cup. pineapple juice ( I used the pineapple also)
1 T. honey
Process all ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Pour into a tall glass. Serve immediately. Makes one serving.

If you want to buy the
Gooseberry Patch 101 Breakfast & Brunch Recipes  Cookbook now, you can go HERE......

I always like to add a little something to go with the drawing, so I made what I call my

Farmgirl Lunch or Craft Bag

for the pattern. I made it a little different then Ayumi, (the designer) made hers. I can help you, if you want to make it like mine. Just email me at prairie flower farm at g mail dot com
This will go with the cookbook.

Then I thought..........I had been working on a new pattern and if I had time I should throw a second prize in. I finished it this morning!

Farmgirl Chick Tea Towel

I will be having a pattern for $3.00 and a kit available with everything you would need to make the tea towel. If you might be interested, I will have it up tomorrow. I kind of ran out of time today!
