It has been so beautiful outside!!!!!!! 88 and it is 12:23. Lovein it!
This morning a precious farm family brought us a big farm grown chicken...the kind that has to cooked and cooked......so I put it in the crock pot and it is cooking away! Num! Making the kitchen smell heavenly!
So in our house when you have a old chicken.......that has to be cooked for hours......you have to have homemade noodles to go with.....just a must! So if you would like to do the same here is the recipe I use. So so easy to make! Try it, you will never by store bought again!
Homemade Egg Noodles
2 1/2 c unbleached flour or whole wheat
1 pinch of salt
2 beaten farm fresh eggs ,fun if you can go to your Girlie Hen house and get them!!!! So just saying, you can come to my farm!
1/2 c milk
1 T butter
I put everything in the food processor.......until it all comes together. If not put flour and salt in a lag bowl. Add beaten egg, milk and butter. Knead dough until smooth, about 5 minutes. Let rest in a covered bowl for 10 minutes.
On a floured surface, roll out to 1/8 or 1/4" thickness. Cut into desired lengths. I fold the piece in thirds and use scissors to cut. About 1/4" wide.
Allow to dry. I took a piece of laundry rope and hung in my kitchen. Looks cute!
Hugs from my farm and God bless your day!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing that adorable photo of noodles hanging to dry.
ReplyDeleteI have good memories of making homemade egg noodles with my grandma & mother as a kid then with my kids. I haven't made them in a long time here, but my daughter does at her house with eggs from our chickens.
Sounds like a good project when there are surplus eggs and the weather is dry.
How precious of a memory! They are so so easy to make. You are so welcome for the photo. I pinned it to Pinterest already! Can't help it!

I'll be sure to try this. Do you cook your noodles in the chicken broth? what spices do you add? thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHi Belle, yes I cook the noodles in my chicken broth. It makes them taste wonderful! I have been known to put dumplings on the top. I just use sea salt and pepper. You are so sweet! Thank you. Please come again.

I do make them and I freeze mine too. I ca almost smell the chicken cooking!
ReplyDeleteHomemade noddles remind me of my BFF grandma! She was blind and could cut those noddles as thin as could be! I miss her so much and she has been gone for many years.
