Last night............ was beautiful..........we are having cooler weather and it is really making everything look so pretty. The flowers are so colorful and the trees are soon to be changing. Mr. Phil and I were watching our daughter ride her horse and off to the west the sky was lighting up in colors of red........orange and pink. The little dot you see in the picture is the planet, Venus. The moon was coming up at the East...... it was so beautiful. I tried to take a pic..........didn't turn out..........wish you could have seen it.........maybe you did...........smile. God is so amazing...........and ALL that He gives to us for our enjoyement........boggles my mind sometimes. I enjoyed the evening..............I was sooooooo HOME with my family..............ahhhh!
Good Morning Sweet Ladies from Prairie Flower Farm..........
Our dog woke us up this morning barking................my only thought was the dogs were back.........and I couldn't have them kill any more chickens and ducks...............Mr. Phil went out to check around the farm..............he found nothing............I am praying for protection for our farm today..........this is such a sad thing to always have to be wondering if they will come back.
While I was already awake........... I took milk duty with our little Miss Sophie. It marvels me that I could love a little kitten so. I was pondering this morning.............hmmm. I think it is because of the dependency she has on us...........and what we have to give her.
Time..........feedings...........taking her potty...........keeping her clean when she isn't (she sometimes has accidents)...........someone having to be with her alllllll the time............taking her with...........if you have to go somewhere. Now if you are a child lover like our family is........and a little baby is in need.........that equals care.............then once you are giving the care....it equals love. She has truly stollen our hearts. We feed her like a real baby and she would die if we didn't care for her needs. As I was continuing to think..........I thought about my Heavenly Father...........He cares for us in a HUGE WAY! I got to thinking about how He created us.........that He said it was "Good". I looked up the meaning of Good it means to be....... desired or approved of...........pleasing, welcome.........giving pleasure......enjoyable.....satisfying........ then I went to the Thesaurus and this is what I found.......... FINE, quality; excellent, superb, outstanding, exceptional, marvelous, wonderful.............hmmm to think on these things that God would think that about us............do we think that about HIM? If I can love a little kitten so much and want to care for her needs..............how much more does the God of the UNIVERSE who created me ........ cares and loves me and you! That ladies is profound. When I am holding and feeding little Sophie.........something happens with me. God created Sophie for our enjoyment...........He also created Me for His enjoyment...........with Him. I can find so much enjoyment with Sophie..........do I find the same with my Father? I will think on this a lot today. I know that He has always has taken care of us....... with keeping a farm going, there are days you think it is impossible.........but it is not..........and as we have looked back over the years of caring for Phil's parents farm.............there is only one explanation............God Cared! How He sustained us........kept us going........ it is a picture of HIS CARE!......I think of my love for Sophie............nothing compares to His love for our family and yours......it might not" feel" like it at times...........but He is there. I am sure some of you who have worked the land know.........it is all about HIM. He would send the rain...........and sometimes not..............and He still made something out of it even though it didn't make any sense on paper. We have been on our knees over the years and on bended knee out in a field asking for His help......... He met us...........it was His fields anyway..........we were just care takers. Now He has blessed our family with a job..........together.............we are get paid for our work..............farming has been a long road and there are other farms out there right now that are going under..........because of what it takes to keep them going in todays economy. Now that I think on that............. please pray for the farmer's and their families. They are the ones that work long hard hours to make sure we have food on our tables. They are real families with real needs and they totally depend on their crops to provide for their families with not much left over........they work day and night for us. Wow........have I gotten off. I do that sometimes. But I am so grateful this morning.............I am HOME............I will enjoy! I hope you will have a good day also. Know you are in my prayers. I am praying for those of you who are hurting............life is hard..........but know the ONE who will here your needs and cares so much for you! Just tell Him........He already knows...........but He loves to hear from us it is called relationship. I like.......no I love!!!!
We made Lemon Poppyseed Scones for breakfast one morning at the college kitchen. They are so easy to make and we used a heart shape cookie cutter to cut them out. The kids ate them..........really fast..........we will make again. Here is the recipe we used the recipe from
Coffeehouse Scones
2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated white sugar
1 tea. baking powder
1/2 tea. baking soda
1/4 tea. salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into pieces
2/3 - 3/4 cup buttermilk
1 tea. vanilla
Add 2 T. of lemon zest and 1 T. of poppy seeds.
Put all ingredients into a food processor, process until it makes a ball. Take out and place on a floured counter. Don't mix to much, but use enough flour to make the dough so it is not sticky. Pat out into a circle and use a heart shape cookie cutter to cut scones out. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Check to make sure they do not burn. They are so sweet looking.
In a small bowl squeeze two fresh lemons. Add about 1/2 cup sugar and let it dissolve. Pour over the scones while hot. Sprinkle zest on top.
Enjoy this recipe, it is one of our very very favorite scone recipes.
Great with a little Lemon Curd......... if you want to take a little more time........oh and a little dollop of fresh whipped cream made with powdered sugar like my Momma in Love did............it is better made with that than plain sugar...........NUM!
Have a good day today! I will be busy about the FARM and doing some sewing...........feels good!
Good!!! I like that word now.
My sweetie husband just brought in a blanket........ it had been warmed in the dryer..........placed it around me.........it must be getting to be FALL Thyme.........he always has done this act of kindness..........it is nice..........I will think of something today to bless HIM. He has a lot on his shoulders............I'll be a thinkin! Maybe some Lemon Scones with Lemon Curd and a bit of fresh whipped cream............. sounds like a good idea!

Linda,
ReplyDeleteThe minute I opened my eyes this morning I thought of your animals and prayed for their safety. I hope the dogs don't come back. A few years ago we lost 31 goats to dogs. We were sick and now have dogs (livestock guard dogs) that live with them and keep them safe.
Have a blessed weekend at home.
Regina
