Good morning sweet ladies,
Okay are you ready for a party?
I was in my garden again this morning........ just looking around. So thankful to see Mr and Mrs. Guinea out eating bugs in my potato patch. They were so funny as they were peeking over the leaves. They are great for your garden, eating little bugs. So far I haven't seen any potato bugs! Yea, that makes me happy
went to check my little "pickle plants", they are
going to be ready for my
"Garden Pickles"!
Our families favorite recipe............then I went over to check on my zucchini. OH MY!
I THINK "this baby" IS READY TO PICK!
My most favorite parts of gardening..........putting everything in a garden basket......bringing it in the house........ and eating it or canning it!!!!! I can taste the pickles now.
Thought maybe some of you have some pickle cucumbers you want to make up. The pickles are kept in the fridge........for months. They are always crispy when you make them this way! I will help you a little if you win this giveaway!!!!!!!
The party starts today until
next Tuesday July 19th
So here are the items for the giveaway!
The winner will receive
One Ball Blue Canning Book
It is my favorite canning book. It has the recipe for the Tomato Soup Base (along my side bar). Lots of pictures, tutorials on how to put up green beans, tomatoes....and the list goes on! Along the side bar I have 10 for sale, if you want to get one now. Half of the money we make selling the canning books will go towards our son's families adoption for Vitaliy (a 13 year old Ukrainian boy). Read this post at Come Rest At His Table, if you would like. It is an update as to what is going on now in the process.
You can save this picture to your desk top and use it to tell other's on your blog or facebook, if you would like.

ReplyDeleteLinda, I just love your blog! I am a follower, on Facebook, have your button on my blog, mrsslingscabin.blogspot.com, canned stewed tomatoes for the first time last year after reading your post and following your tutorial, but unfortunately only yielded 2 quarts because I didn't have as many tomatoes as I thought. This year I have tripled my tomatoe plants and hope to yield more :) You are an encouragement and inspiration to many. Thanks for everything you do!
ReplyDeleteI do a lot of canning--beans, tomatoes, applesauce etc. One of my favorites is my chunky catsup.

I canned for the first time last summer. I did the basics; tomatoes and green beans. I had some peppers, onions and tomatoes left from the garden and made a few pints of salsa. It was good but a little too juicy. Think mexican restaurant salsa with yet more juice. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to canning more this summer!

ReplyDeleteI can tomatoes, tomatoes, and more tomatoes! I use them in chili, goulash, and even everything that calls for tomato sauce. Our zucchini has been coming in nicely too. I've been making breads, cakes and baked Parmesan Zucchini Sticks! Oh so good! I plan on using a few for some Pineapple Zucc. Jam. (These recipes are all from Gooseberry Patch books.) This morning I picked my very first cucumbers! Got 8 of'em! We don't pickle them, just make a vinegar dressing and throw in some onions. They go so fast around here!
