Mile-High Biscuits Recipe....totally the best recipe evaaaaa!!!!!!

Hello sweet ladies........

We have two more days for the Gooseberry Patch and Prairie Flower Farm Party. I have one more recipe from the

Good-for-You Everyday Meals

Oh my........f you make these biscuits you will never want to use another recipe evvveeeaaa! There is NO sugar in this recipe and it is so good......course I have to put some new freshly made Strawberry/Rhubarb on it. I have 13 new rhubarb plants I transplanted and had to sneak a few stalks from each to make it!

Mile-High Biscuits

2 c. all-purpose flour (I use unbleached, better)
4 t. baking powder
1/4 t. baking soda
3/4 t. salt
5 T. chilled butter, diced
1 c. buttermilk

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a food processor; add butter. Pulse just until mixture resembles course crumbs. Transfer mixture to a large bowl; add buttermilk. Stir until moisture begins to hold together. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Working quickly, knead until most of the dough sticks together. Pat out dough into a circle 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter, quickly re-gather dough until about 8 biscuits are cut. Arrange biscuits in a parchment paper-lined 13"x9" baking pan. Set pan on center oven rack. Bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes, until lightly golden. Serve warm. Makes about 8 servings. I used a jelly 1/2 pt. size to cut mine and I got more!!

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in food processor.

Add chopped butter to food processor.

pulse

Mix in bowl until mixture begins to hold together.

I use a jelly jar to cut out my biscuits. Don't the biscuits look so pretty? When the recipe says to pat into circle and make the dough 1/2" thick.......do as it says!!!!!!!!!! This will make them nice and high and fluffy inside. This is now my favorite recipe!!!!!!!!

Thanking Gooseberry Patch for this cookbook!!!!!!!

We have today and tomorrow for you to be able to come and sign upfor the Party!!!!!!!!!!!!! Click Here and sign up!!!!!

It has been busy on the farm, with all the rain everything is growing wonderful!!!!!! Which means I am in the garden.......a lot! Planting and watching things grow......love it! Yesterday my sweet man helped me get up a fence for the Scarlett Runner Beans. He said that he would get some clamps to hook the running wire to the t-post....and I said......"oh, I will take care of it"!....red checked ribbon....is what I used......right.....I like....it a lot!!!!  It matches the color of the flowers. I love farm life and making things pretty!

Another thing that is keeping me busy...... is all the little ones that are hatching on the farm. Five Momma Hens are sitting. Ask if I like..........YES! I will be helping little families start their own little chicky farms!

Sweetness!!!!!

Momma Blue is quite happy!!!!! Lots of little baby fuzzy feet Cochin chicks. They are so healthy and fat!

I will leave you with this precious verse. It keeps me going just to  know that HE......the God of the Heavens.......His steadfast love endures forever......for every one of us! What a wonderful truth!!!

Well, how all is going well at your home.......know that you are all in my prayers.

Hugs and God bless you,

Linda

My sweet man has been farming outside and it has been real warm and muggy because of all the rain we have been receiving! We are so thankful to the Lord for His provisions! Combine frozen fruit, banana and yogurt into a blender. Process until smooth; pour into tall glasses. Makes 3 serving.

Okay sweet ladies........are you ready for another Gooseberry Patch and Prairie Flower Farm Party? It's that time again..... one of my favorite things to do is share another Gooseberry Patch's new cookbook and what is in inside it!!!!

Garden-Fresh Sides & Salads
Chicken, Pork & Beef Mains
Fish & Vegetable Mains
Healthy Snacks & Desserts
A Homemade Pantry

My sweet man, Tressa and I eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies during the summer. It gets so hot here in Kansas and we like to eat lite. We find ourselves farming, gardening and canning and don't feel like much heavy food during the day. This recipe will be a favorite for us from now on!  You must try it!

Sweet Fruit Salsa

was going to be a new favorite for summer.......
we just knew it!!!!!!! So when I was skimming through
Good-for-Upi Everyday Meals, I knew I had to try this recipe!

When you read the recipe you will see why it is soooo good!!!!!!

You are going to need: a pt. of strawberries,
1 green apple and 1 mango....

2 T. orange marmalade, 1 t. ground ginger and 1 t. dried mint

Another substitution is 2 T. apricot preserves (or any other kind of jam you might have on hand) and drop the ginger and mint.

Here is the nummy recipe!

Sweet Fruit Salsa

1 pt. strawberries, hulled and finely diced
1 green apple, cored and finely diced
1 mango, peeled, cored and finely diced
2 T. orange marmalade
1 sp. ground ginger
1 t. dried mint

Combine all ingredients in a serving bowl; mix gently. Cover and keep chilled up to 3 days. Makes 8 servings, or about 4 cups.

Isn't that so easy? It takes a little time to cut the fruit, but it is so good and soooo worth the cutting!

The recipe said to eat the salsa with cinnamon pita chips. I didn't have any pita...... so I used some flour tortillas and made my own chips.

Baked Flour Tortillas

5 large flour tortillas
5 T. melted butter
2 T. cinnamon sugar

Cut tortillas into 3" pieces. Lay squares on a cookie sheet. Brush melted butter on one side of square. Sprinkle squares with cinnamon sugar.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.

Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with
chilled fruit mixture.

Now you can try it.........and tell me what do you think?

I will be drawing one of you sweet ladies who will receive the

I have also been making jam as the produce grows.  Yesterday I made 21 half pints and 3 pints of Raspberry/Jalapeno Jam! Ask if it is good...........yes!!!!! Best I think I have ever made and it is the same recipe! It is so so easy too. I have the recipe for you here so you can try it! NUM!!!! I was so excited to find raspberries for 99 cents......so I bought 10 of them! Wish I would have bought more! They are delicious!!!!

Raspberry Jalapeno Jam

1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4 cups chopped jalapeno pepper
3 cups white sugar
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
6 fluid ounce container liquid pectin

Serilize jars and lids by immersing into boiling water for
at least 5 minutes. In a saucepan, combine the raspberries,
bell pepper, and jalapeno peppers with the sugar and
cider vinegar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat
and boil rapidly for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let
stand for 5 minutes

Stir in the liquid pectin. Pour jam into sterilized jars and
seal. Store in a cool dark place. Refrigerate after opening.

Some Of My Blueberries Are READY!

Good morning sweets!!!!!! How is your day going? I have been working out in my craft barn and craft room in my home for two days. I am getting things organized and it feels so good to have junk out the door and on the burn pile! While I was taking some bags out I walked by my blueberries!!!!!! Ekkkkkk! Look at what I found!!!!

I hadn't checked them since I had come back from our mini vacation!!!!!!! Look! Six ripe plumpy (not a word.....but I like it) blueberries that taste so like ones I would pick in Alaska! I didn't get enough to make our Best Blueberry Muffins.....but that will just take time! So I shared them with my sweet man and Tress!

The Best Blueberry Muffins

1/3 c. oil
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
2 1/2 c. fresh or frozen blueberries
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare muffin cups with paper cups or grease them. In medium sized bowl beat oil and sugar, then add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in vanilla, baking powder, salt and then milk. Fold in flour, then blueberries. Spoon into muffin cups. Make the topping: I use my food processor. 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 tea cinnamon and 3 tbl. soften butter. Blend until into crumbs. Sprinkle the top of each muffin with topping. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. This recipe was given to me by a special friend... It is the best!

Hope you enjoy the recipe! Well, back to work......listening to 1 Peter on my kindle. Biblegateway audio is so wonderful.......just filling my soul with the TRUTH of HIS WORD! I need it to give me direction and keep me safe everyday of my life!

Hugs to you and God bless your day,

Linda

Country Bumpkins In!!!!!

Hi again sweet ladies,

My sweet friend Suzanne took me to this wonderful shop in Wichita. Just had to share with those of you who might live close or those who are maybe driving through! The antique shop is called Country Bumpkins 3543 E. Douglas Ave. Wichita, Ks 67218 (316) 612 2512 here is there facebook link . I remember going to this same shop years back when it was called Country Ritz. Suzanne took me there last week......we were able to walk around the outside only,  because it was closed.  I saw some bed springs.......I had been looking for some for some time......you know a Pinterest idea! Soooooo......I called the shop the next day to see if I could purchase them! I have to say...... when Cyndi answered on the other end we had a "friendship" immediately!!!!!! We had such a sweet time getting to know each other. You know how that is......like you have known each other forever! She loves the Lord and that made the talk even sweeter! We made arrangements for my friend Susanne to pick the springs up.... since I didn't know when the next time would be that I could come back to Wichita.

Suzanne took a pic for me of some of the bed springs on the little shelf she made on her old door. Isn't the door neat? So excited about finally finding some springs! I will show later what I will be doing with them!

Well, a week later we left the farm......on a very cloudy rainy day to go to work on our Tressa's truck.....it is broken down....sad. After we got done working on it we thought we should just go on to Wichita to Suzannes to pick up my bed springs!
First we made a stop at Country Bumpkin's.

When you get out of your car you have to go up some stairs.
There are lots of antiques outside right in front all around the outside of the shop!

Front door!

I walked in and and really liked what I saw. Antiques!!!!!!! Here is a sweet picture of Cyndi!!!!! She is such a sweetie! You will love her, if you haven't met her already! She has such joy!!!!!! She has also joined the rest of the Prairie Flower Farmgirls here and on book!

Meet Cyndi's

Look at the beautiful stuff!!! See the stools straight back and on the top? See the big window frame right under the stools? The little cupboard that is a green to the left of the pic is really nice!!!!!

Liked all the shelves and cupboards.

See this table........Tressa liked it a whole lot!!!!!!! Think it had something to do with the color of the base. I liked all their chairs that were throughout the store.

Cyndi had an Americana room. Notice the mirror on the top right corner.......like.....a lot!

Look at all the colors of Milk Paint.

Some more colors of Milk Paint. I so want to try some out on some of my old antique boxes.

There were a lot more rooms at her shop......Suzanne and Tressa and I had such a fun time there.

Hope you enjoyed seeing all the pictures. If you go to Country Bumpkins......tell them Linda sent you. Cyndi is a sweetie!

Hugs and God bless you......

Vacation........Missing In Action!

It's been along time....... hello sweet ladies.....I have missed you!!!!!!! Once I went on break from the college.......I hit it really hard to get the things I just "had" to get done here on the farm. Like putting in my garden.....going through a lot of our storage.....cleaning and cleaning......and loving on my little family!! I try to keep things posted on fbbook for those who want to check on the happenings here at Prairie Flower Farm!

It has been wonderful......spring and soon summer. So much I want to do and get done on the farm! I am having a wonderful time. Listening to my Bible on line and watching all kinds of quilting videos all while I am working away. Feeling a little spoiled, but enjoying my little vacation and so thankful!

The Lord has been providing much rain for our crops. We have corn and soybeans planted which have welcomed all the rain. The rain came a little late for our wheat, but we keep praying for it, The heads of the wheat are looking good, but the stock is shorter then usual. A lot of Kansas farmers will have a low yield of wheat they say this year. When it got planted it was just way to dry and no rain.....made for no growth.

Momma Duck had her little ones. Nine of them made it. We are enjoying them and so are all the little people who come to the farm.

Another Momma is sitting on more eggs. I was walking by a wheelbarrow that I had tipped over so the rain wouldn't collect.......she decided to make her nest in it. That's okay with me!!! She has now laid all her eggs and is sitting seriously on it.

The sheep were needing sheared.......bad!!!!!!! Olivia was ready to go the day we went!!!!!!!! They were all getting hot because of the weather. The shearer we usually use got sick........ so that put us off from getting the sheep sheared. We ended up having to get someone new.
It was a hot muggy day the day they all got sheared. They were so happy and so was I, they finally got all their wool shaved their bodies and would be a lot cooler.

Poor Birch was getting sheared and half way through the shaver broke. He stood with wool hanging and part of his head shaved as the man was fixing the shaver, he was embarrassed!!!! Thought he gave me a sweet pic though.

I couldn't believe how much lanolin Birch had down in his wool. It was very yellow in color. Notice the wool on the right......you can see the difference in color. Lanolin gets all over your hands as you put the wool in the burlap bag. Your hands end up feeling very nice and soft by the end of  shearing.

Look what is new on the farm!!!!!! Vitaliy and I have been working hard! I will be painting it white when we don't have rain in the forecast. Oh my......talk about rain!!!!!!!

Last night we had rain, lightning and thunder!!!! The storm came through the farm.......it rained and rained and rained. Woke this morning and we had a little over 2 inches.

So nice to get back here on the blog and write.......thank you for those who email and check in on me!!!!!! You are sweet!

Today Vitaliy and I will be working on the picket fence around the bit hen house!!!!!! So excited! We are getting a lot of things done here at Prairie Flower Farm!!!!

Please keep praying about the coffeehouse for us. We are learning much and trusting the Lord with the outcome! It has been an exciting time for us for sure! Pray for finances. Wish I just had the down payment now.....but God knows what He is doing.....and we are learning trust!

God bless you and lot of hugs sent your way!!!!!!!

Linda
