We have two more days for the Gooseberry Patch and Prairie Flower Farm Party. I have one more recipe from the
Good-for-You Everyday Meals
Oh my........f you make these biscuits you will never want to use another recipe evvveeeaaa! There is NO sugar in this recipe and it is so good......course I have to put some new freshly made Strawberry/Rhubarb on it. I have 13 new rhubarb plants I transplanted and had to sneak a few stalks from each to make it!
Mile-High Biscuits
2 c. all-purpose flour (I use unbleached, better)
4 t. baking powder
1/4 t. baking soda
3/4 t. salt
5 T. chilled butter, diced
1 c. buttermilk
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a food processor; add butter. Pulse just until mixture resembles course crumbs. Transfer mixture to a large bowl; add buttermilk. Stir until moisture begins to hold together. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Working quickly, knead until most of the dough sticks together. Pat out dough into a circle 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter, quickly re-gather dough until about 8 biscuits are cut. Arrange biscuits in a parchment paper-lined 13"x9" baking pan. Set pan on center oven rack. Bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes, until lightly golden. Serve warm. Makes about 8 servings. I used a jelly 1/2 pt. size to cut mine and I got more!!
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in food processor.
Add chopped butter to food processor.
pulse
Mix in bowl until mixture begins to hold together.
I use a jelly jar to cut out my biscuits. Don't the biscuits look so pretty? When the recipe says to pat into circle and make the dough 1/2" thick.......do as it says!!!!!!!!!! This will make them nice and high and fluffy inside. This is now my favorite recipe!!!!!!!!
Thanking Gooseberry Patch for this cookbook!!!!!!!
We have today and tomorrow for you to be able to come and sign upfor the Party!!!!!!!!!!!!! Click Here and sign up!!!!!
It has been busy on the farm, with all the rain everything is growing wonderful!!!!!! Which means I am in the garden.......a lot! Planting and watching things grow......love it! Yesterday my sweet man helped me get up a fence for the Scarlett Runner Beans. He said that he would get some clamps to hook the running wire to the t-post....and I said......"oh, I will take care of it"!....red checked ribbon....is what I used......right.....I like....it a lot!!!! It matches the color of the flowers. I love farm life and making things pretty!
Another thing that is keeping me busy...... is all the little ones that are hatching on the farm. Five Momma Hens are sitting. Ask if I like..........YES! I will be helping little families start their own little chicky farms!
Sweetness!!!!!
Momma Blue is quite happy!!!!! Lots of little baby fuzzy feet Cochin chicks. They are so healthy and fat!
I will leave you with this precious verse. It keeps me going just to know that HE......the God of the Heavens.......His steadfast love endures forever......for every one of us! What a wonderful truth!!!
Well, how all is going well at your home.......know that you are all in my prayers.
Hugs and God bless you,
Linda
Thank you for sharing the recipe. Looks delish.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I shall give it a try this weekend. I have some blackberry jam that would be quite good on home-made biscuits.
Nice to see the little chicks thriving. Happy hen and happy chicks.... all is well :)
