A Blessing Happend Tonight!!!!!!!!!!

Hello sweet ladies,

I feel like I am loosing IT! You will understand when I tell you what happened tonight when I got home. It was a little bit warmer then it was yesterday, which I was very thankful. It was blowing so much yesterday and so cold I didn't go to check on the Banties. I just let my sweet man take care of them for me, he doesn't mind helping me when it is so nasty outside!

Anyway tonight I went down to the Milk Barn after all the "Girlies and Roosters" came in for the evening. I started counting and the chicks and roosters on the ledge............ looked so cute so I thought I would take a pic for you! Certain ones like to roost there every night. Some are turned backwards. They like to cuddle. Sometimes they will pile on top of each other to stay warm. Chickens are so fun to have and watch.

After I counted them I saw the Black Cochin Bantam sitting on the barrel I have in there to keep the food protected. Then I saw the Mottled Rooster who was not to happy with the two kittens that had cuddled up in the nester box.  They live in there during the night and stay toasty warm!

Then I looked over and there was two Mottled Cochin Girlie Hens sitting .........WHAT?????????? The one on the right was MISS MILLY! I am not sure who was killed other then it must have been one of the Cuckoo Maran Hens. All I know was that evening when I found the hen all hurt, I was really upset. Anyway Miss Milly is still alive and well. Like I said, "Loosing IT!!!!

The other sweet thing that happened today was the family who had the dogs that killed the hens? They brought over two huge bags of cracked corn! Now was that sweet or what? Talk about a blessing! I am happy!!!!!!!!!

One more day of baking in the bakery! Can't wait! I have a full weekend ahead. A family we know, who also follows my blog are coming to the farm. We have a surprise for them. Can't wait!!!!!! I will journal about it this weekend!

So glad you enjoyed Katie's Story.......I keep reading.......it is such a precious story of grace!

Hope all are well. Some of you really are getting some snow! Please share! We really want some on our farm!

Hugs sweet ladies and may the Lord bless you!

Linda

  4. You have no idea how I love looking at the pictures of your chickens!! And I'm so happy about Miss Millie. If I didn't have an 11 year old GSD, I would get chickens. As it is, we love him and don't think it's fair to teach our sweet old dog new tricks - like not killing chickens. :-(( Keep the chicken pictures coming. Blessings♥♥

  5. I am so happy for you and Miss Milly! What a blessing after such unpleasantness. My guys also take care of the animals in the winter. I gladly do all summer (and warm spring and fall). The cold is so hard!

  8. I'm so happy that Miss Millie is okay! I'm also happy that your neighbors really do care about what their dogs did. I love hearing about your hens and roosters! They each one have their own personalities don't they? I pray the Lord continues to bless you and your family Linda.

  9. 'Welcome back' Miss Milly! Those cats are sooo cute (I love cats but my hubby is very alergic).
After a 3 yr chicken free period my husband announced last night his new plans for the spring - new garage and chicken coop! I can't wait, do you think i'd be pushing it if I asked for a goat as-well? Take care, huggs to all the farm life.

  11. How Wonderful Linda!
Im sure your so happy to see Miss Milly. I had a injured hen Primmie Rose who was living in my laundry room for a few weeks. She has just moved back outside. I shared my morning oatmeal with her everyday and miss her outside already. She seems very happy. I so enjoyed this post as always.

  13. Good neighbors! Not every neighbor cares when their dogs do such a thing. I am sorry about the hens that were killed, though and glad for the ones who made it.

  14. SO glad Miss Milly is safe. She's one smart hen. That was sweet, what the neighbors did. I know, someone accused our dog of killing a couple of their chickens and we felt TERRIBLE and just wanted to know what we could do for them. Turned out it wasn't Ruger and we were glad of that! but still you feel terrible for the ones who lost the chickens. Glad it turned out so well.

  17. At least when YOU loose it, it comes out good!

If there WAS a way to send you a little of the snow that is forecast here tonight, believe me - I'd DO it!

(Those neighbors are "keepers"! Good for them - doing the gracious thing.)

  19. Sweet gift from God. Even chickens are in his care. A saying from my childhood that had always had sweet meaning "All creatures, great and small, the Lord God loves them all. So true. I'm getting chickens this year. Another blessing from a sweet loving savior, for my 1 acre (very big in my eyes) "farm" in town. Thanks to the new law passed for back yard chickens. Woo Hoo. Been dreaming of the coop and hen house, what kind of chicks to get. Our God is so good.
    good night.
