It's a One Day Party.......at Prairie Flower Farm!

Hello sweet ladies,

I woke this morning and went outside. The weather and cool breeze was so wonderful. I walked around the garden and saw all the produce that will be so wonderful to eat~soon! Can't wait!!!!!!!

Last night (as I have been trying to do each day), I fixed up a new little spot on the farm. It is the entrance to our back porch.

I bought the hanging basket at Stutzman's last fall and the flowers I bought from Hobby Lobby using a gift certificate that was given for my birthday. I have been making things with the burlap.... so I thought I would put a piece of that ruffled out the front of the basket. I have one more thing that I will be making. A sign.....hmmm think it will say, "enter and leave with a happy heart". I saw something on Pinterest.......I will show you when I get it done, but for now when I come in the back porch..... it will make me smile! I am treating myself just a little each day to make the farm look like I would like it to look. Next is the front porch......can't wait. I am getting ready in case I could ever have a Prairie Flower Farmgirl Party.......a real one and you would be invited. Bring your own tent, camper......and those don't have either...we will squish all of you in the refuge cabin! Heehee. What a dream huh?

Did I say party? I think I did.......this morning I was thinking what could we do special today! I bought some adorable blue......my second favorite color........garden gloves. I thought when I bought them that I should crochet around the cuff and have them as a giveaway. Then I thought I needed a little matching kleenex holder to go with. So I made that up. I will make another one.......because there will be two winners to this party giveaway.

So let the party begin! Just 24 hours noon tomorrow June 7th I will draw a name. Wonder who will be coming. Now the comment........let's just say......share one thing about what you do to make your day a little special for just you! I have to first go outside. I have to see nature and all the Lord has done over night! The garden and my chickens.....have to be checked. The communion I have with Him alone.....is precious! My prayer time!

So let the party begin........I am going to go chase some cows......when I get back I will have some pictures. They are out......two miles down the road.

Hugs to your day and know that you are loved......by me and Jesus!

Linda

  1. The one thing that I do to make my day special that is just for me is open the front door to be greeted by my beautiful flowers on the porch and the trees full of green leaves and the cow pastures across the road. The landscape of the Shenandoah Valley is breathtaking at times. Then I grab my Bible and make my retreat to my front porch to sit in my wooden wicker rocker and read God's word and instruction to focus my day...Quiet time with God is the most special thing I could do for myself each day...then soak in the glorious surroundings HE has given me!

  2. Good Morning Linda!

Thank you so much for hosting such a sweet giveaway! I love to craft...so each day, no matter how much other "chores" are on my list...I try to find at least a little time to do some crafting...knitting, sewing, crocheting...it's a special time just for me! And usually I'm working on something to give to someone else...so that makes me feel good as well!

    Have a blessed day!

  3. I try to spend 1 hour every day crafting, quilting, sewing or finding new ways to change up my home decor! Sometimes I only get a few minutes but I go into my craft room every day! My cares just seem to melt away in there!

  5. ME, I am here!! If you ever do a farmgirl party, I am SOOOO making the trip from Nebraska to camp in your yard :)

I am working too many hours these days but on my days off, I try hard to work on my little homestead to make it what I want it to be. My project this week is painting my porch floor. So many more projects on my list and in my head :)

    Blessings to you Linda!

  6. Hi Linda,
I enjoy walking around my yard and my garden to see what is growing and how it is growing and thanking God for this beautiful world He has made for us to enjoy. I also enjoy walking my dog and enjoying the outdoors as I walk down our gravel road. I enjoy crafting, too. Right now I am crocheting a baby afghan and making a quilt for one of my daughters. God is so good!
Blue is one of my favorite colors. :) Cute garden gloves and kleenex holder. I enjoy reading your blog every day! May God bless you!

  7. The first thing I do is open the house up. Open the doors, shades and if the weather permits I open up windows and let the sun shine in! After all the littles are fed and settled down I then step onto the back porch with a cup of tea. I take five minutes to sip my tea, hear the birds sing, rejoice in a new day and then I am ready to face the rest of the day.

  9. Hi Linda! Our farm home sits on top of a hill and the view is just wonderful. Our living room has tall windows all the way around to the east and south. We can see for miles. Each morning I look out at the chickens putting around the yard, the cows down in the pasture, and the dog and kitties waiting patiently by their food bowls. Waiting for the farmer to come and fill them up.
The view is perfect and it helps me shake the cobwebs out of my head and get ready for the day. Later on, I go out and do my walk around checking to make sure everyone has water, check the garden and my greenhouse. I am blessed to live such an amazing life!
    Love ya, Sue Krei

  11. The geraniums are so pretty, they will make everyone who enters smile. What a pretty picture the blue garden gloves, kleenex holder, and flowers make too! Just for me . . . well, I make a mug of green Constant Comment tea - I'm the only hot tea drinker in the house - and I've been sitting at my computer early in the morning reading the daily devotional and scripture and reading from the Old and New Testaments with the daily Bible reading plan. It's become a very special time. I like that you are fixing up little spots on the farm on a daily basis. Think I'll copy that idea.

  13. I love the early morning time wandering around the flower beds, pulling a few weeds, deadheading spent flowers, bird watching, and taking note of what's new. I love checking on the hummingbird feeders to see if they need a refill. It's a perfect time to finish up my mug of coffee and perhaps take a few photos in that special early morning light. I love summer mornings before the heat sets in. Take care!

  14. Rising early, I have recently enjoyed sitting out by the pool. Though my hands are usually wrapped around a mug of coffee my heart has been wrapped around the very thought of how Awesome God really is. It has been so refreshing to read from the Word of God while listening to all of nature sing! The quiet hush of the morning has been my anchor for each day. I am learning to ask Jesus to order my steps and what a difference it makes when I simply have a willing heart to listen and obey. If you ever have a Farmgirl Party I am there too! You are such a ray of Sonshine cause Jesus shines through you!

  16. A campout would be so much fun! I like having a cup of tea and spending some time in the word each morning. Then I like to go check on my little garden, too. I have mostly tomato plants this year and this is the first year I've really gone out to check on them almost every day----and they seem to be doing so much better than when I have haphazardly planted in the past and let the weeds crowd out all my plants! I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

  19. I seem to have so much in common with you. First in my life is God. Second, family. Third my mini farm (which is all my animals). Fourth is sewing, painting and crafts. Like many of your blog and FB friends, I just love some quite time with God and admiring his creations on my little farm. I also left you a message on FB about having two calf's that I am bottle feeding, I just love God's new creations. Wish you could have a get together, I would have my husband hook the camper up and be on our way. Sounds like it would be so fun. Keep your blog going, it is such a blessing.

  20. I get up very early, and open the doors, to let in the cool morning air, and look at the view of the Rocky Mountains. Then, I wonder how I got so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

  21. Hi, Linda! I crack open a bud lite and have a cigarette......just kidding.....I do exactly what all of us seem to do when we wake up. Thank God for a great night's rest, turn on the coffee pot, sit at my table or go out on the deck and listen to the birds and keep praising God for all He has provided for me and my family over the years. There is no end to His blessings. I am so happy He loves me and cares about me so much. Just the thought of an Awesome God watching over me makes me dizzy. :-)

  23. Hi Linda, Love your new porch decorations - red :) - so very sweet!
I like to check on our birds, flowers, chickie girls and just spend time Thanking the Lord for all the beauty He has given us. I'm always amazed by His Grace and Provisions. I love the gloves, you once again have created something beautiful out of something simple :) Going to leave a comment on FB as well. Hugs to your day!

  24. I love getting up early and seeing what kind of day the Lord has given. We only have a few chickens but I enjoy checking in on them in the morning and gathering the warm eggs. Wouldn't a camp out be fun! Would love to meet everyone!

  26. I love getting up early too, and in warm weather (it has been cool and rainy here) I love to have my quiet time on the screened front porch. That always makes me feel (for an hour or so) as if I am on vacation. Another thing I do for myself is to try and do one creative thing each day. It doesn't have to be a craft -- it could be writing or blogging or cooking something special or whatever -- but of course I do love it best when I can craft. I believe creativity is a gift from God and so I try to nurture that each day.

Thanks for the party -- I love the back porch and the matching blog header. It made me smile as soon as it appeared.

  27. My special time just for me is in the early morning with GOD....I sit out in my backyard and say my daily prayers and read my meditation books while observing God's handiwork all around me. I have a bird house in a tree close to the house and they have been having hatchlings for years now. With many feeders. I just love my birds....by the way the gloves and tissue holder are so adorable...thanks so much Linda...your the best....ciao4now64 at yahoo dot com.

  28. My special times is at the crack of dawn before the children rise. I like to sit on the sofa I created out of a futon on the front porch with a cup of tea and my bible. If it's chilly outside I just curl up with a blanket.

  29. Hi, Linda - What a fun idea - a one day party! Let's see now - for my entry - one of the special things I do "just for me" each day - is spend time out in my patio garden! I like to take some time while I am watering it all to just enjoy the beauty of the flowers, be surprised at the new growth on my veggies(the potatoes are REALLY popping!) and thank the Lord for His blessings that I get to enjoy out there! I have to tell you - He is amazing - several of my heirloom tomato plants really looked *dead as a doornail* for quite awhile. Friends told me to replace them - but I just said "let's wait and see - I'm praying for them to revive!" And God DID revive them! They are standing up just as perky as can be now! Thought you would enjoy hearing that, too! When I'm out there, it really is a special time & place to pray!

  38. If I can do one little thing to make me happy per day, it is to work on a craft I have going at the time. whether it be a sewing project or knitting. Something I enjoy just for me. I usually can fit in a half hour to an hour and that makes me happy when I can see it coming along a bit everyday...

My time with the Lord in the morning is oh so necessary for me and it usually gives me the right heart for the day. Then I do like to do something crafty each day--making a greeting card or arranging a flower bouquet or just changing the home decor up a bit! Thanks for the opportunity to win something too.

I love that around the back porch what a cheery entrance it will make.I get up at 5 every morning even on days off just to have my alone time I love having my coffee and with the first cup playing on the computer then the 2nd cup is time for planning what I want to do if it is a day off and that means baking or gardening

I have a half basket kind of like yours, I got on close out one year..so try to ruse it each year. This year I was stumped...until now! "if" I can do this I will show it to you. I know I'm too late for your drawing...we had Drs.appointments all day yesterday .... Anyway...I'd like to share...first thing I do in the morning while sitting in my chair, having my coffee is to look out our 'big' picture window at God's wondrous sky, and to see the birds as they come in for a drink or a bite to eat.

    Have a blessed day!!

It would be extra fun if it was a lite rainy day outside as well. In the background I would enjoy music by Chris Tomlin, my very favorite worship singer today!!

  57. Hey Linda! One thing I like to do just for me is go out on the back porch before the hecticness of the day begins and look over the garden and watch the birds visit the birdfeeders. 58. My kitchen and back deck faces Pikes Peak Mountains (America's Mountains), a view that I will never get tired of. I thank God every morning for the view and all the Blessings he has given me. My family and friends are so precious to me and I ask that he always keeps them safe. You see my husband is a Wildland Fire Helicopter Pilot and has been gone since March and will be home in September after Fire Season. I ask God to keep him and all firefighters safe as they protect our homes and land. I also ask that he help to ease my loneliness as my hubby does his job.
While I am at it I ask him to watch over our soldiers and to keep them safe. Sometimes I wonder if I ask to much but I do not think so.
Thank you for yet another wonderful party and for us to have a chance to win such a lovely gift of your wonderful handiwork.
