A Little Sewing Kit Party!

Hello sweet ladies,

Yesterday we went to the baseball game. Since we have been encouraging the young men on the team, we have attend a lot of the games. Some of them are the ones that come to our home on SONday and also to the Bible study my sweet man has been having. It is a little thing, but the boys love knowing we are out in the stands cheering for them. 

I had some fun at the Quilting Bee!

Yesterday we traveled to Salina to a quilt store that has been one of my favorites over the years. It is located in Salina and it is was one of the first stores we had our patterns and fabric in. Then life kind of changed for us as we were caring for our parents and I started selling our patterns with a company and still do called Keepsake Quilting. I have only two of those patterns with them. I have been thinking a lot on how to get more of our "new" patterns out again and have quite a few ideas on how to do that. I am so busy during the winter months with working at the college, I just don't have theWhen I came across this book, my brain started in again. I have had this book before and didn't know that it was still being published....... 


I bought it!


Easy way to find a quilting store in the USA and Canada. They sell this book at The Quilting Bee! Only $20.00 and really nice for when you are traveling.

If you ever want me to look up a state and city for you I can! 

I am always looking for little gifts to have on hand.......when I saw this I thought of you all!!!!!!!


Thought it would be fun to start the week with a little giveaway! This is a small (2 1/4" x 3 1/4") sewing kit....... in the cutest little tin. It has everything in it that you might need. No kidding it is little.......but practical to have in your purse when you need something real fast! Cute cute!!!!! When I saw it at the Quilting Bee I thought it would be fun for a party!

This is a simple little party giveaway. You know me......I love a party and it just seemed like Prairie Flower Farm has had so much going on. 

As you know we lost Sweet Magnolia........but we did get a gift from her before she died. I miss her terribly......she was a precious Momma!


Lil' Birch is the sweetest and most wonderful little gift the Lord has given to us this last week. Lil' Birch has filled our hearts with so much fun and love! He is so dependent on us for his care and we are having fun giving it to him. Yesterday when we had to leave to travel, we had one of our friends and son watch him for us so we could go. Lil' Birch and Adam (6 year old boy) played all afternoon at their place. Lil' Birch runs and hops now and Adam had him doing that all afternoon!

 I have a verse that I pray a lot for my family. When I am praying I always ask the Lord to do the same for you! I love these verses.
Ephesians 3:14-21

 For this reason I knee before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

We are having a cookout with the college kids from the college. It will be a good day. One of our boys is from a very very rough city! He has seen much in his life......shootings and such. He loves to garden.......that's were we will be later today after church! It will be good! Can't wait to show him how to play in the DIRT! One of my favorite things to do in the spring! Hope we have had the last of snow, sleet and ice!!!!!!

  3. I like that you and your hubby are mentoring the boys, attending their games, cheering them on and having Bible studies and more. Your little white kid is cute, and your book and its cover are charming.

    1. I always say, "When I have the time, I want to make a quilt for my Granddaughter Savanna". She is 17 and I have saved dresses and t-shirts that I would love to make a memory quilt incorporating those things.

  5. I'm a knitter mostly but I've loved embroidery and sewing garments in the past! We do volunteer missions work in Argentina but we're about 2 weeks from returning home to the States.(I SO enjoy your farm photos and wonder if I might have made a good farm wife!)

    Would you please join us in praying for my friend Ruth, who has Stage 4 brain cancer, just discovered, and expects to have 12 - 36 months more to live? Thanks so much!

  8. Love to quilt but haven't for a few years. Started a sewing room in our home when we moved here in the Fall of 2006; still not ready. I started a baby quilt for Delainey but never finished it. Pieces are cut. Been wondering what to do with it now. Want to do something in her memory and give to my daughter, just don't know what to do. I would appreciate ideas from you girls, PLEASE. I feel so bad that I never finished it. When I started caring for her 3 days a week and traveled an hour (both ways) each day, I was usually worn out. I'd love to hear some ideas. Thanks.   13. I just bought Elenor Burns Lone Star quilt book and would love to get started making one. I've always wanted to make a Lone Star. Now I don't have an excuse!
    And I've d/l the snowman candle cozy pattern. Still haven't made it, but someday!

  14. Hi Friend Linda,

    I've just finished another quilt top for our church quilting group. We've been using up over 250 polyester dresses that a lady had in her closet and gave to one of the quilters.

    What I want to work on now is a new summer dress. It's a black cotton with little red cherries. Just adore it. It reminds me of something from Mary Engelbreit.

    So, that's what I'd like to work on right now. So, what am I doing on the computer? Tick tick tick there goes the time!

  18. I know these boys feel so blessed to have you and your sweet hubby in their lives. I'd love to be included in your giveaway hun; this little sewing kit is adorable...I love to Cross Stitch, I try and stitch a little everyday; I'm working on LHN Virtue series "Hope" right now, I don't know how to quilt but sure would love to learn someday.     I have been thinking about trying to sew and I thank Sue at CollectInTexas for encouraging me. I am not a quilter but I would love a butterfly quilt. I have my pretty tea cup quilt courtesy of Suzanne at Colorado Lady and Sue! They are wonderfully talented ladies!
    I love your stories of the farm and sweet Birch. What a blessing his momma left!
    I have always saved many of your patterns and who knows one day I may surprise everyone!
    I am tired of the cold and wintry weather. Today we had such strong hard winds and the next three days snow snow snow! Sigh!
    I love your giveaways and your stories. Today I baked two homemade strawberry pies(except crust)and used the Summertime Strawberry Pie recipe from Gooseberry Patch! I am always loving baking when the weather is cooler. I also found a strawberry rhubarb custard pie from a different source and want to try it. Sigh!
    I love baseball too so I smiled knowing you share the game with the college kids!

  21. I haven't done "handwork" for years. I did crewel for a while with freehand artwork. I have quilted, crocheted and knitted. I think I would like to pick up crochet or tatting. Tatting is an old handwork skill that my grandmother taught me when I was little, but I have long since forgotten. I did download your strawberry needle keeper for a friend to use with her niece who is learning to sew.

I am a hand quilter and have several quilts in the making right now, but I would love to be working on my Barn Raising quilt....It is a "Bucket List" quilt and has been set aside more times than I can count in order to make gift quilts for others....there is a baby boom in my church right now. 4 babies in 6 months. Everything else waits, cause every new baby deserves a hand quilted quilt. ;)

  25. If I could quilt or work on a stitchery what would it be? I'd finish my first ever quilt, many mistakes, but have learned so much. My next are some Angel squares I found on e-Bay. Actually, anything Christmas!
    I've downloaded several of you darling patterns, just haven't gotten o them yet.

    I'm always looking to improve my Mrs. Claus wardrobe and am praying for extra work this season.

  29. Stitchery is great for watching the husband watch tv or when my wrists in a break from the key board (at work) or crochet (at home). It is a different range of motion that uses those muscle group differently. And, yes I have the dish cloth chickens, Christmas towels and strawberry needle kit. Hugs-Tina

  31. Linda I don't have a blog so going over to email to sign up. I hope to start today on a sort of quilt/blanket for one of my grands. I have 4 grandsons. I made one for the youngest, just after he was born. I bought a panel at Joanns. It is all different sizes, patterns & shapes of flannel for the back I found a krinkled up type satin, my cousin monogrammed his name on front. He has an older brother who is 2, baby is 1 now. Older brother loves the blanket too, I have made him several, I think they like the feel of that krinkled up satin. baby Reed won't sleep with out it. So I am going to make my own panel, today, I have stripe, dot, toile, minky, 6 or so different fabrics, in shades of blue, then I will tack it, so not a hand pieced or quilted quilt. But looking forward to finishing it. Love all your stories from farm. thanks for doing a giveaway.

  35. I haven't done much stitching lately but if I did it would be something with scripture. His Word does not return void. And as for quilting, I have two baby quilts started that need to be finished then I would like to try a scrap quilt using up some scraps from the bins.

  36. I have downloaded free patterns of yours the seasons of thyme.
    We have an orphan we are bottle feeding too...a calf named Lazarus. His mom didn't make it after birth. :( He is doing well and I think will be a stinker when he is finally put out with the other cows this summer. He's a week old now.
