Another Hometown CHRISTmas Cookbook Review!

Hello sweet ladies........as soon as I got home today....... out the door I went. I was on a mission to try to get the farm a little decorated before the cold weather set in tonight late. We are to get really cold and maybe some snow on Thursday! Love love love CHRISTmas lights and snow! Reminds me of Alaska! Anyway......look what I did for the Cochin Girls Milk House!

The sun was going down, so it was getting a little dark when I took this pic, but I still like it.

I took lights and draped them all around my little picket fence that Vitaliy and I built this summer. I am not finished with the decorating.......but it will be fun to finish it up in time for the family when they come for CHRISTmas! Are you decorating anything special?

Okay......I have another review for Gooseberry Patch!!!!!!

It is from the Hometown CHRISTmas Cookbook!!!!!!! It is a really really easy recipe! You will like it, if you like Banana Bread. The college kids ate it up I made it for breakfast. Whenever the bananas start going bad...... we get them in the Bakery at the college.

We have to take a recipe and do it times 4 or 5. That's why you see so much made up here!

Nannie's Banana Bread

1 cup sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. very ripe banana, mashed
1-1/2 all purpose flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
Optional 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients except garnish in order listed. Spoon batter into a greased "9x5" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. May also be baked in 16 greased muffin cups, 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm with butter. Makes one loaf or 16 muffins.

We like to dress our muffins and quick breads up, so I make a crumb topping to bake on the top.

Crumb Topping
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 oats
1/3 cup unbleached flour
1/3 chopped nuts (opt.)
1/4 c. butter

Mix all ingredients with a fork or pastry cutter until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of each muffin or bread before baking.

You know how Gooseberry Patch Cookbooks always have the neatest ideas at the bottom of each cookbook!

Love their ideas! Thought this was a cute CHRISTmas gift idea!

If you haven't signed up for the party, you are welcome to go
Here to do so!

Hope you are all getting ready for the holidays. I just love
this time of year!

Hugs and God bless you!!!!!!!

Linda

  3. I don't have anything ready for Christmas yet! No tree up nothing! We have the deep freeze weather here. But I know my son has a little pink tree in the shed and I am going to take it to work since I moved into my tiny office today! He bought that little artificial tree for his old girlfriend. I have a huge snowman too he is one of those material kind that you blow up so if I can seek him out he will go in the front yard as the Griswolds appear to live across the street from me and their home is filled with all sorts of colorful Christmas lights! LOL. Love the banana bread/muffin share. Definitely will be trying this one Thank you and hugs and blessings Anne!

  4. Mmmm -- the banana bread looks yummy and I like the idea of wrapping it in a fabric napkin. Don't know if I would have thought of that!

Even nicer are your photos of your simple farm decorating. Love the new header!

We have 2 Christmas trees up (pre-lighted type) -- colored lights on a slim tree in our bedroom and white lights on a fuller tree in the living room. No decorations yet, but the lights are festive. I've done a small amount of decorating in the dining room and have my ribbon board full of vintage Christmas cards in the front entry. Lots more to do, but things are "beginning to look a lot like Christmas"!
