All In A Day On Prairie Flower Farm!

Hello,
Look at my little valance that I stitched up for my new kitchen curtain. Just what my creative side needed. Every time I go in and look out the window to the bird feeders, it is so pretty! Take a little time out to do a little something to make your home pretty. I wish I had extra time to do more, but it does help me if I can do at least one thing a day. I just love this fabric, it is so pretty. I have two more valances to make for the kitchen, but that is for another day!

We are seeing so many signs of spring on our farm. Lots of birds are coming back after being gone over the winter. I open the door to our farm house and hear all the wonderful spring sounds. When I am sitting painting I can hear the birds outside singing. As I sit typing I just heard Mr. Cardinal singing away. Momma Cardinal has not been around since last year, so we think she has died. How I hope a Momma comes to our farm this year. I love watching them in the spring. The Poppa Cardinal feeds the Momma. We watch how he cracks the sunflower seed open and then feeds it to her. It really is a precious sight.

Even though I am busy getting artwork ready for fabric, I am taking a little fun time out each day to get some other things done. I put horse manure on my rhubarb, got some little lettuce plants from Rosa and planted them in the Potter's Shed and worked on transplanting my little tomatoes and basil. I did take pictures, but our internet provider has not been working!!!!!! We have to do something, but living in the country away from everything, is hard to find a provider. Well yesterday, I was crying (yes I was a boohoo baby) to Gail my neighbor about how frustrating it has been with our internet shutting down for days at a time or it is just sooo slow!!!! They also have been trying to find a better internet provider. She then started to tell me how they had been over at someones place not far from us and the family had found an internet provider for people in the country. Yes!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus! It has been so frustrating like I said and sometimes life has felt like going up hill, "ALL" the time. Any one out there relate? We called the internet provider and he is coming out on Monday. I am so thankful, because the Lord has answered another one of our prayers!! Anyway all that to say it would take me forever to get the pic's up on my blog of my transplanting pictures, soooo I will put them up at a later date. You can go to a post from last year, if you are interested in growing your own plants . Click here It really is so fun to watch the little plants grow right before your eyes. Great lesson for teaching your children or grandchildren.

Well hope you are all having a good day today. It is to be in the high 50's. I am thankful for that!

Almost forgot to tell you Momma Puddle Duck is laying eggs. All the little Banty Cochins are laying eggs.......... that means babies hopefully this spring!!!!!!

Also, remember the wonderful greenhouse Stuztman's? They are having Spring Celebration on this Sat. the 27th of March. Look at this old washing machine that I am sure Larry fixed up. Just got the information this morning and thought I would send it on to you!

Now this is cute wouldn't you say?!

"Rejuvenate Your Patio with Trash to Treasure"
with our Designer Larry Rogers!
at
10 a.m. & 2 p.m.

If you live close to Pleasantveiw, west of Hutchinson, Kansas on US Highway 50. The Celebration is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All the stores will have lots of fun going on? You won't be sorry if you come!

P.S. I have a momma hen that lays light blue eggs with wonderful brown polka dots. I have been saving some so I could take a picture with them in a nest. I thought I had better blow the insides out. Haha that sounds so funny that I am saying that. Anyway I started to do that last night with two of the eggs. I poked two holes in each end of the egg. I was so excited that it was working so I came into where my girls were and I said, "Look how cool this is?" Well right then the whole egg exploded all over my face. Thought it might give you a laugh. I guess I was blowing to hard. I will be more careful next time. It worked on the first egg. Smile!
Blessings and Hugs!!!!!!!!

CHICKEN CURTAINS GIVEAWAY SIGN UP!!!!!!

What I want to do is give away 3 lined chicken curtains, that will measures 8"x44". I will choose 3 different ladies. You just need to leave me a comment on whether or not you would use it in your chicken coop or in another place (kitchen, laundry room......). Sooooooo simple. You will need to buy a cafe rod to put it up though. For those of you who have followed my blog from the beginning, knew that I wanted to make a curtain for my hen house, using my fabric line called "A Farmer's Market" (fabric is the same as the clothespin bag). This spring and summer brought a lot of busyness to my life, not that I am not busy now and I am just now getting my curtain done.
I just love my curtain. It is so cheery to go in my hen house now.
Is she so precious? I love this artist's work. Her name is N. A. Noel. The picture was damaged, so I put it in my hen house. Isn't it lovely? It is so nice to gather my eggs with that on the wall.
My mud boots have had so much use on my farm. I love them and they have polka dots...... I love polka dots, but you already know that. Now come and sign up and I will do the drawing next Saturday the 12th at noon! I will let everyone know who won. Remember 3 winners one curtain each. Thank you everyone for coming over and reading my blog. You again are the most precious ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blessings,

Baking and Sewing Day

Our daughter is working really hard today to get up pictures for the store. Here is what I have been stitching up the last few evenings. They will be available at my store. I willllll let you know as soon as it happens. I know I have been saying that, but it is really going to happen soon. These are little kleenex holders.
Today I will be making up the Lemon Verbena Bread. The leaves look like this. It smells so good in my little kitchen. I bought a vintage apron over at Bluebell Country her blog is called Simply Fine Linen. You will love her blog. It is so fun to the eye and heart! I love my new apron and I am going to wear it while I cook. I will feel like a princess of the King of course. smile....
I woke up this morning to thunder and lightning. It was wonderful!!! We have needed rain real bad in our area. The rain has been going around us for some reason. I kept praying though. The lemon verbena is going to take off.

Fabric is off and I am happy. Now I am on to other fun things. Hope you are doing well out there. Just know I am tucking you all in my heart and praying for you!!!

Blessings,
Linda

"Prairie Flower Market Bags"

"Prairie Flower Market Bag"
I have been working on our new design called "Prairie Flower Market Bags." I have been enjoying working with the fabric combinations (my favorite part of sewing). We will soon get them into our "new blog Store" (that will soon be up) and have them for market.

Here is a little close up shot of the detail on our market bag. The pocket is for your coupons, wallet or phone.

Just got accepted to the Kansas Grown Market in Wichita, Kansas. There's a lot of excitement around our farm. We have been getting ready for the market it seems for months. All the little seedlings are huge plants. This Saturday will be our first time of going. Meeting the people will be one of our favorite parts.

Here is a picture of the Un-sewn banner. It turned out toooo fun!! I designed a banner for the front of our booth. Can't wait to start decorating our booth! when we get the booth set up we will put up some pictures.

Vegetables and special baked goodies will be on the menu for the market.. Scones and Focaccia Bread will be one of our specialties.

Hope all is going well out there for you all!

Blessings,

Linda

"SEWING APRON DAY" And A Few Other Tidbits

SEWING APRONS FOR FARMER'S MARKET
Good Afternoon ,

Please everyone, you still have time to sign up for my drawing if you haven't already. : ) Last day is June 8th. It has been just delightful! All the nice comments being left have blessed my life.

Our family was out traveling a few weeks back and I just had to STOP at one of my favorite quilt stores in Salina Kansas, called The Quilting Bee. I found the most adorable pattern Lilly Apron. I thought this would be sooooo cute for my daughters and myself to wear when we
do Farmer's Market. I let the girls pick out their own fabric. From top red square (surprise?) is mine, bottom left is Tressa's and bottom right is Taylor's (hers is brown and green, even though it looks black). I will let you all see when the aprons are done.

I wrote Michelle, that owns Busy Bee Quilt Designs, to get permission to put her information up on my blog. You must go over and see what she has. Her website is so beautiful. You will enjoy looking, if you like quilts, cute bags and the Lilly Apron. I thought it was so funny that my chicken and tea towel was named Lilly.

This is my" Little Garden Girl" who keeps watch over the Prairie Flower Farm.
I am finally getting some other things finished around the farm, since we have most of the garden and trees planted. Now we just sit, pray and wait for the Lord to help everything grow. I already have tomatoes on the vines. The basil is doing well and we will be making up pesto real soon for our foccacia bread. mmmmmmmmm can't wait.
I hope you can see this little rake. I was just talking with my hubby the other day saying that I wish someone would design a little rake. I had forgotten that I had bought one that was just for decoration. Yes! I am using it now when I weed the peas. It works fantastic.
I wanted to see if these strips really work. If you have tried them let me know. I wasn't sure so I thought I would try. As you can see by the little lettuce it worked great. I think it was well worth the money. Just thought you might like to try it if you haven't I have two trays in with flowers and herbs. I let you know how they work. Enjoy all your gardening.
My baby ducks are getting huge. They wander around eating my grass and maybe bugs? I don't know for sure if they eat bugs. You can let me know. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. If you have children or grandchildren the ducks need names. You can help them leave a comment. I think they are both girls. Thanks so much, it will be fun to see what names come through.
