A "little Giveaway", Vacation is Over!

Hello sweet ladies, 

My vacation is over........it was such a sweet time to be home. Thanking Jesus for all He does for myself and family! Now it is time to go back to the college. It will be good to see everyone. I have missed my kids...I will be able to share Jesus.....that is the only thing that makes it worth it.....leaving my farm each day! 

This is my "little" giveaway. Small little farm boot ornament. Nothing big......just sweet! You know I just love Parties!

The party ends Tuesday night at midnight central time so hurry and sign up!!!!!! 

Thought I needed a party.......while I am gone at work today! This is an ornament. I have one and one to give away! If you win, it could be hung on a doorknob, a picket fence.....by your chicken coop.......I am sure you could find some sweet place to hang it. I want some real boots, just like these. Adorableness don't you think? I saw a real pair just like this. In the back of each boot there were two holes.....they had laced black with white polka dot ribbon through each hole and then tied it in a bow. Farmgirl attire!!!!!!

To enter......all you have to do is leave me message. Tell me what you might be planting in your garden this spring. I can hardly wait to start some seeds...love watching the little baby sprouts come up. Tomato seeds are on the top of my list! Okay....tell me what you might be doing to get ready for SPRING!

We have an abundance of eggs.....I asked ladies on my fb for ideas.......they had wonderful ones! Even though it has been very cold my girls are still laying. The new ones are still getting used to the coop. I so hope they start laying some day! We give our girls very warm water and lots of extra protein during the winter months. I am so grateful the Lord provides!

It is SONday!

Hello sweet ladies,

Saturday night it snowed all night.........and blew. When we woke up there were snow drifts all over the farm. It was beautiful! The sun came out and a lot of it melted.

On SONday our table was full. We had all the kids plus another family with us! It was wonderful! I am putting this post up on SONday evening. 

 I have wanted to show you how I transplant my tomato seedlings. So thought I show tonight.

Remember when I put my seeds in a tea cup?

The little tomato seeds started growing and needed to be transplanted. These got a little bit bigger than I wanted, but they will still work fine.

I bought some 9 oz. paper cups, so I could transplant the little tomato seedlings. 

1. Take a small knife and slip along the side of the tea cup and gently lift the dirt and seedlings upward. Remember be very careful. Take a little clump out onto your surface. Gently separate each seedling.

2. I use a wooden dowel and make a hole into each cup filled with potting soil.

3. Holding gently to the leaves.......do not press them. I place the root into the hole I just made.

4. Carefully bring dirt around the root using a small knife. Press around the two leaves.

Make a small hole in the bottom of the cup using a paring knife. Set each cup into some warm water until it is soaked.

Then I slip the cups into a plastic bag and set into seedling trays, until the seedlings have 4 leaves. 

I think it gives them a little boast. 

Look what I found at a salvage yard. It cost me $5.00. I think it was used for tools, not sure, but I knew when I saw it what I was going to use it for. 

On each shelf I set the cups in the planting trays. Above the plants I hung the shop lights. I am going to love using this shelving unit!!!!!!!!

As the plant grows I raise the lights. It works wonderful and the little stems grow stronger and wider. Not all spindly. 

I love how the Lord makes what He created so beautiful! 

Hope this helps you if you would like to try doing your own seedlings. If you ever have any questions, just let me know. I do things kind of simple, but it works for me!

I have only 5 more weeks working at the college. I can't tell you how excited I am to get back to the farm for the summer.

Planting My Tomato Seeds

Hello sweet ladies..........today had to be one of the roughest days at work......I forgot my purse with all my things I need for work at home......ugh.....that threw everything off. It made the day catch up.....all day long. Then my girls and I found out that there were going to be about 70 new people there.......that isn't fun to try to cram for. Plus when I went to put my pizza's in the pizza oven it had turned off.........panic!!!!!! I was so thankful when 2:30 came this afternoon. When I got home though......I just didn't have much in me! I was going to post about Willow coming home and I still will, but I couldn't think of putting all the pic's together. Here is pic though of when they were in the trailer when they got to the farm. Cuties!!!!!!!!

Willow is in front......she is definitely pregnant. Big girl. The one behind her with the black eyes and nose......and the one to the very back fuzzy girl are due at the end of March or first part of April! I just love them! I couldn't believe how pretty they turned out from when they were little! Willow will be due on March 10th......can't wait!!!!!!!! Hope there are two little ones!!!!!!!

Here are the girls when I went to open up their shed after I got home from work. Willow was ready to get out the door! The other two are a little afraid of me......they will calm down when I start feeding them. I can't wait until they all have their little ones hopping around their pen! It is such a fun time. I will post more pic's later.

I am starting my tomato seeds now.......my friend Gail showed me this years ago. It is easy and looks adorable.......don't ya think? I have a tutorial that you can go to here to see how I do this.......so easy!

Memorial Day and Family

I know that today many will be remembering their love ones who are not with anymore....... as you go to the cemetery. We will be going also and putting flowers on the graves of our loved ones. Bittersweet for all. I just spent some time praying for all who read my blog. I know for some it will be a hard day of remembering. Remember that God is close to the broken hearted. Isaiah 61:1. Trust that that will give you some comfort. 

If you make these you are in for a treat.............I am not kidding!

We call them 

"Better than a Ding-Dong"

and they are!!!!!!!!!!! Your family will love you...........MORE! Not really.........smile.

Today we will be having family coming out to the farm. It will be a peaceful day........kids running around.......not sure if fishing is on the agenda.........but we will be baking these yummy cupcakes for sure.......for them to taste. I don't remember if I have put up this recipe or not..........it is the best. It might look hard, but it is not. Promise. Try it and tell me if they are not going to be your favorite.

I will also be out in my garden getting some much needed planting done. It has been to cold around here to get my seeds in like I wanted so just waited for some warmth. Some of the garden is really doing well though. Can't wait for that first juicy tomato.  Today will be in the 90's.........that part I do not like. Know I will be thinking of and praying you will know that someone cares......MEEEEEE!

Praying for our grandbabies.......what will America look like when they are older?

Ladies please keep America and our Service men and woman in your prayers.........there is a battle raging in America for her freedom. It breaks my heart to see what is happening in our country. We have gone our own way and don't seem to need God anymore........may He never take His hand of protection off us. Also pray for the protection of Israel, they are God's chosen people. 

  God is speaking to Abraham. " I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

Hi!!!!!!! Sweet Ladies, 


It is 9:00 on Monday and we have 38 ladies signed up for the seed swap. That really blesses this farm girl's HEART! Think of it. We are going to be planting flowers all over the states and one lady from over seas so far that will be planting in France. How fun is that????? If you haven't signed up yet go HERE,  I will need to have your home address when you email me please. I will not share it with anyone other then the swap person.

Instead of putting up a new post today I am going to put up an older post. The reason is I received two orders for the Winter All Year Long Quilt Kit.........one order was for 11 and the other for 1.......talk about excited. 20% of anything ordered from my store goes towards Vitaliy's adoption! I have been cutting out fabric since I got HOME today. Love it! Fabric is one of my favorite things to work with! Soooooo I thought I would share something I did on seeds.......hope you enjoy. I will show how I start my tomato seeds.

It was so warm today and it was wonderful! I planted some tomatoes and basil. I thought I would show you what I did. Last year I did a lot more with my seeds (click and you can see). It will have to be a little more simple for me this year.

You will need: Potting Mix Soil (Miracle-Gro), a cup or tea cup, seeds, heating pad, cooling rack, plastic bag and a tag.

Planting seeds is so easy! You save a lot money and it is so enjoyable watching the little sprouts come up. Today we will do tomatoes. You will need a clean cup or tea cup, as my friend Gail uses. I chose a little granite ware cup. Make sure it is real clean. Potting Mix Miracle-Gro is found at a greenhouse near you. It is good to support an independent Greenhouse. It helps a family make a living!

Fill the cup with damp potting soil.

Sprinkle tomato seeds on top of the dirt and cover with soil 1/4" deep.

Slip cup into a plastic bag. I like to blow air into the bag and puff it up. I don't know if that helps, but it makes me feel better. smile! Tie it off at the top and put a little tag with the name of the plant and date that you planted it.

I made a new cover for my heating pad today. It needed some cheering up! I made a flannel covering. I like it a lot better now.

Place a little table by a south window. Put a cookie sheet on top of table, then a heating pad (set at med) on top of the cookie sheet. Place a cooling rack on top of the heating pad and if you are like me, you will check the little plants every day to see if they are up. I love it!!!! God's LIFE! After the tomato plants have 2 little leaves take a pencil and slide it down along the stem. Gently take the little plant out and transplant in a dixie cup that has been filled with potting spoil. Put on trays and put under grow lights. If you are interested in more information you can go to this post that I put up in 2009.

I painted a little bluebird today. He just reminds me of spring. I wanted a signature for a long time and today I bumped into how to do one. Thank you Jesus for making my path straight! Tressa put up my little bluebird for me. I think it turned out so fun. I will give you the link on how to do your own signature, in case you would like to do one also. March 3Oth will be my One year anniversary on having my blog. I am thinking what I would like to do to celebrate. I am thinking I need to have a very special giveaway party. We do need to celebrate. I have so many wonderful friends that have made my days so rich and special. I thank you all so much for that. I have a few weeks to figure out what I will be doing. I can't hardly believe it has been almost a year.
