I bought this wooden plant holder a long time ago and have used it by changing the picks for each season.
It is a favorite in my home.
I found this whole pick at Hobby Lobby already done.
It was nice to just lay it on the little shelf.
My daughter came up to me holding this single strand of a pick, that had been pulled apart. She said, "Mom, I think this would make the cutest tree". I knew exactly what I would do with it. Here it is! I will cherish it forever. It is my "Taylor Tree".
I want to thank every one of you for the wonderful comments on our Little Nativity Drawing.
If you have not signed up please scroll down and join in! Your favorite gift as a child comments have not only blessed my life, but the lives of others. I love it. I forgot to tell you mine. When I was a teenager my sister and I received a pair of blue ice skates trimmed with grey fur. I just called my sister and she said that the laces were sparkled grey. I forgot. We thought they were the most beautiful skates ever. I couldn't wait to get on some ice! There was a beautiful lake called Auke Lake. You could skate and in the distance see the glacier. We would go in the evening and build a fire right on the ice. We always had a thermos of hot cocoa to warm our bodies. Another memory was we would get a group of kids and hold hands all skating in a line. Shannon reminded me that it was called the whip. One would be at the head and then there was always someone at the end. We would all skate together and then the first in line would stop and hold on (it was usually a really big guy) and we would start skating in a circle. The one on the end would always get a really fast ride. I think I could still do that if I had a chance. I would be the one flying across the lake, because I forgot to let go of the whip. Okay I am a very visual person and I am having the giggles. I remember we laughed a lot skating. Sweet memories; they are so wonderful to remember?
This is a picture of my brother Bud, Uncle Mikie, myself and sister Shannon in the year 59. Wow, I feel old. hehehe Look at the tree! My Dad loved icicles. You had to put them on one at a time. Ugh! Our family would get all bundled up with warm coats, stocking hats, mittens and boots. We would go out into the woods as a family, tromp through the snow and chop down our Christmas Tree. The days when we could do that.
Now ladies if this seems like a long post it is. I have been without internet since last Monday at 9 in the morning. I have 23,987 words to use so here is. Enjoy!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
I just came back on to let everyone know that we were having problems with the Payloadz download for the free Tea Bag Cozy! Soooooo sorry. We are now using Google. Hope this works until we can figure what we need to do. Please email me if it does not work for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blessings to you!
Linda
What a wonderful memory! The blue skates where the bomb weren't they? I must have looked like a dork since I always had "weak" ankles and I think they kind of bent in. I don't remember yours doing that! The picture is adorable. I am the bombshell brunette on the right. Chubby cheeks and all. Gees, doesn't seem like much has changed over the years....
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog yesterday and I am so glad I did! It is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI have several nativities, but that is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Wow! I love the scriptures. I'm so glad you shared each one.
I see you are in Kansas. My husband grew up in northern KS and we met in college in Hays. We lived several years in Emporia. My inlaws now live in Galva. We are headed there next week!
Oh.. I love the nativity.. unique.. and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love your Nativity, it's beautiful, thank you for sharing!. I use to collect them, I don't have antiques or really expensive ones, when someone from my family goes to another country I always ask them to bring me a new Nativity. It's a cool way to know a country, I don't have a big collection either, I'm going to post about them soon, workking on it right now, I'm planning also in make some Nativity quilts, already have two cross stitched framed nativities. The Nativity you're giving away is extra gorgeous, thanks for sharing your memory about the skates
ReplyDeleteI really love that nativity too and the sayings on each one, so special and meaningful.

ReplyDeleteOh my Linda, I do love that nativity set of yours, what a lucky adopted momma you are! I loved your post and that picture from your childhood, too cute! I too loved to skate as a child....my cousin and I would twirl, and twirl....we would skate on a cranberry bog though, or some winters we the horse field would flood and freeze, what fun we had! I now live across the street from that horse field...I can look out my bedroom window on cold winter days and remember twirling round and round in the middle of that field! I can't spin one bit anymore! Thank you for a beautiful post, I really enjoyed it! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteoh what a wonderful memory. I loved this post. Thanks for sharing your photo's too.

The Nativity is beautiful! How thoughtful of Alicia to give it to you!! :) Such a sweet gift! I have my great grandpa's nativity (passed down to me...he and I shared the same birthday). He was a pastor/evangelist. :) I keep it up all year long!! I love it!

ReplyDeleteYou will see that I deleted a previous comment only because I had said I had deleted your comment by accident on my blog, come to find out I didn't. I am still finding my way around in the blogging world. :0)
ReplyDeleteThe nativity set is so precious. I love the wording on the pieces.
I found your blog just a couple of days ago and I think it is so wonderful. It makes me feel like I am actually there, it is so inviting.
Thank you for the encouragement to continue to write. I enjoy it, but have little time to do it.
Your childhood memories are so sweet. I can say we have never had the opportunity to ice skate in Florida, but I bet it was a lot of fun.
Merry Christmas!!
Beautiful nativity set!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your nativity and can see why it's so special to you! Your ice skating memories brought back a lot of very similar memories. I lived at the skating pond in the winter. So much fun! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!!

Hi Linda! Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving me a nice comment. I hope you will come back to visit again.
ReplyDeleteI just read about your sweet Nativity set. It is precious! I just love that each piece has a Scripture verse on it. How unique! But even more precious is the fact that it was a special gift.
I hope you have a wonderful, blessed Christmas!
Hi Linda. I absolutely adore that nativity set. I was going to ask where I could get one until I saw that evidently only yours exists! You are one blessed lady. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies for all the sweet comments. You make my heart warm on this very cold night. It looks like snow might come for CHRISTmas. Oh, I hope so. I love snow. It makes everything look so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy sweet Alicia bought the nativity at Hobby Lobby 2 or 3 years ago. It is so beautiful isn't it. I love how each scripture matches the person. If Jesus had one it would say, "I died for you". I know that isn't a scripture per say, but it is the truth of the word.
Love you ladies and I am so grateful for you in my life. I am one blessed lady Melissa!
Blessings, Linda
Where did you buy your nativity set?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
where did you get your nativity?
ReplyDeleteGood morning ladies,
ReplyDeleteAnonymous and Crystal. My friend Alicia bought the set at Hobby Lobby. I looked on the box that it came in and it said "8 pcs. Resin Nativity W/Scripture. It did not have any info other then that on the box. I then looked it up on google and found nothing. I scrolled and scrolled to try to find it. It was a few years back so maybe the company doesn't make it any more. It is very beautiful! I will keep looking and if I find it I will let you all know.
Blessings, Linda
