HOME a place of Refuge

You are welcome to use this photo on your blog or facebook.

As many of you know................we have left the farm to work outside. God has been so merciful to us in our employment. We cook for 600 kids............... that have left their Homes to go to
college. I look at some of them............ they are trying to find themselves...... I pray for them....... some we have invited to our Home for a time of Refuge...............they talk........... they cry........they miss the norm.......their Families. It is hard to live in your Home and then one day you are all separated. God is giving us a heart for needs.......... for kids at the college. I do feel on some days my life has drastically changed...........but our HOME has not.......we are still the same Family. It is a place we can run to.............enjoy together........ bring those who are in need to......... now God is giving us a bigger Family........it is growing...........continue to pray for us that we would be aware of the needs............and as we share................Jesus on a bigger scale. I appreciate my Home more then I ever did...................I thank the Lord for His provisions. I have realized that our home has been one of blessings. We need to share that with others. We have a hope that is in US. Jesus Christ.........He makes all the difference. I would encourage you whether you work inside your home (women who stay home doooooo work) or outside.............share your HOME with others. The entertaining doesn't have to be fancy.............just simple meals......... simple home............ enjoy those that the Lord has put in your path.............it is a good thing! I am learning! If you have worked outside the home and have ideas............let me know what you know. We have always entertained............but it is different when you are so tired..........I want to get this one................ learned.........that is.

He does care................alot............we are His. I want to be thankful.................!

Last night I sneezed. My little 3 year old grandson said, "Grammie...........Bless You"! Precious Momma and Daddy teaching him.........life skills...............Home............a place to learn and glean! God knew what He was thinking!!!!!!!!!

  1. "BLESS you, Grammie!" I am praying for you as you continue to find your rhythm...You are SO generous with your time, your love, your home. Your example of hospitality and sensitivity to the college students is beautiful. Do listen and learn from Jesus carefully. His yoke is "easy" and His burden is "light". You need SOME of the few hours you have at home to pay attention to your soul and the hearts of your husband and daughters.... Wondering if you have as beautiful day in KS as we do in IN? We're now waiting for our daughter & her family to arrive from Chicago. We'll see their newest addition for the first time today! Can't wait.

  2. Hi, Linda - Just had to tell you this brought "happy tears" to my eyes today! Who knows - perhaps God had you experience leaving your home as you did so you could truly understand what the college kids are going through, and bless them. I'm sure it helps them to have some good home-cooking and fellowship!

    Blessings - Pauline

  3. I may not speak as eloquently as others, but I do know I appreciate all that you do for your family and how you have now left to work outside the home. You are giving love and understanding to these young people that are missing it from being away from home. I do so appreciate your Love for Christ. You all are such an inspiration to me and an uplift in this troublesome world. May our Lord and Saviour Bless you always.

  4. Linda your post today was just heart warming. Although the college students are now young adults, they are all God's children. And to have you with them when their far away from home is such a blessing. For them and your family also. Don't you just want to hug them when they are so hungry for the word and love of others. God is working miracles through your family. God Bless you.
    Hugs, Brenda

  6. Linda you are one amazing woman! I would love to have your tenacity! You really hold everything together so nicely even though you would rather be home with your family! You have such wonderful qualities of the true Christian woman. I am so inspired by you. I stop by each day and I get so misty eyed reading that I often forget to leave a comment!
But I am loving each visit here as you inspire me. I think God holds you so closely to His heart. You are such a lady with such a wonderful family. Your blessings are many. Anne

  7. I see you in the Alan Jackson song Hard Hat and A Hammer. I wanted to wish you a Happy Labor Day and I know you will be busy cooking, but I know there are folks out there that don't get the love and kindness in their homes and I think God sent you to do this work for Him because He knew you would succeed. Love and Hugs Anne

I'd like to ask you to pray for us too. We very recently moved to a new(er) house. This is something we have wanted to do for years. We have felt the leading of the Lord to this house.....as a place of ministry, a haven to minister to others. We homeschooled all of our children and the last one finished this spring. The door opened for us to buy this house. Our youngest started college on the 26th. We want to open our home to students who need a place to go. Then two weeks ago I fell and have a compression Fracture in my back. Please pray for healing and God's protection. Sorry this is so long. But I sense your heart and wanted to share mine.
