Fresh From The Farmstand Gooseberry Patch/Prairie Flower Farm Party

Party Closed
Hello Precious Ladies,

Like I said.........we have........

another "NEW" Gooseberry Patch Cookbook and you know what that means a "party" at PRAIRIE FLOWER FARM!!!!!

I can't believe it is time for another Review!!!!!!

I know you are going to say..........."you just had a party"! Well....yes I did, but Gooseberry said, that

the New Fresh From The Farmstand needs a review!  Look at that cover............ it says it all. Soooooo when Gooseberry says you need a review...........YOU DO A REVIEW, because they are so fun for me to do! I will be sharing some different recipes and some of their adorable ideas at the bottom of their pages like...........

did you know that if you heat lemons in the microwave for 30 seconds before squeezing...you'l get twice the juice? Neat idea! There are tons more ideas just like that!

The New FRESH from the Farmstand, Gooseberry Patch Cookbook is packed full!!!!!!!!
 The different catagories are:
Freshly Gathered Breakfasts
Market -Basket Soups & Breads
Garden - Fresh Sides &Salads
Farmstand Feasts
Summer's Best Appetizers
Berry Best Desserts

Look at these beautiful muffins! NUM!!!!!!

I made them up at the bakery. I knew the kids would like something with raspberry.........we make them turnovers and they love them. I was sure they would like these also. I went to the pantry and fridge and gathered all my ingredients. By the way.....this one is so simple and soooo delicious you won't make it just once!!!!

You will need,
quick-cooking oats
brown sugar
vanilla yogurt
oil (I used melted butter)
egg

 unbleached flour
salt
soda
baking powder

Raspberry Yogurt Muffins
1 c. quick-cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. vanilla or plain yogurt
1/2 c. oil (melted butter)
1 egg, beaten
1 c. unbleached flour
1 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1 cup raspberries, I will use 2 cups next time.

In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, yogurt, oil and egg. Beat well; let stand 5 minutes. Sift in flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Before stirring, sprinkle fruit over flour mixture. Stir to blend. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.

The muffins are wonderful! The only thing......... there wasn't enough raspberries in each muffin, so I would add more the next time I make them.

In another month I will be starting all my plants for our garden. It is one of my favorite things to do! Lots of farmers that go to Farmer's Market will be doing the same. It really is a special time of the year watching all the little sprouts come up. I have to check on my plants every day!!!!!!! Love it when I see the first "little curve" of green come up thru the ground.  The Fresh from the Farmstand has recipes that will help me plan my garden........I will have to have..............
corn for this,
Summer Corn Salad

red potatoes for
Light & Lemony Potato Salad,

basil, garlic, tomatoes to make
Tomato & Feta Appetizer

strawberries
Luscious Strawberry Pie

spinach for
Spinach Dip Bread Bowl

That is just to name a few. Sounds good doesn't it?
So let the party begin.
The winner will receive

one Fresh from the Farmstand Cookbook and

Blueberry Crumb Tea Towel

(couldn't wait to use this fabric), that I made just for this party, look in the future
for a pattern, smile........it is so easy to make!

The date starts today Saturday, January 7th until next
Saturday January the 14th, the party will close at NOON!

  1. Well, for #1 I hope we will have a raised bed garden this year! I live in the country and I love your parties!!

  2. I have a small garden now and it gets smaller by the year! I just can't keep up with it physically any more. I use to have a huge garden and I canned like a maniac. When my children were newly married they raided my pantry all the time! Now they have their own gardens and share some fresh bounty with me...a nice circle of life huh? If there is one thing I can plant and nothing else it is always swiss chard...I love cooked greens!
We have chickens for fresh eggs, although the cold has lessened what I get each day, and we also have our own beef. I've not had to buy beef in 30 yrs!

  5. I live in a small little town. I have a garden, but flowers grow better for me than veggies. I think because of the soil here. I keep trying with the veggies though, and I have some herbs too! I'd love to have room for an orchard, but don't, maybe someday.

  6. Hi Linda! We have a huge garden...almost an acre, but that includes our sweet corn patch. This year I will be moving my tomato plants to a new spot because of blight and the past few years our crop has been awful. We live on a farm and sell a lot of our produce at farmers' market locally. We aren't going to get rich doing this but it is fun! One of our best sellers are our nice brown farm eggs.
This cookbook looks just perfect for the way we cook. YUM!!! The little tea towel is just too precious! You do such beautiful work!
ps...the link for your strawberry yogurt cake doesn't work. I finally remembered to get the yogurt and now can't find the recipe....booohoooo!!!
    Love ya, Sue K

  7. I have had a garden each year for the past 10 years and it seems to grow bigger each year. I live in the city out in the burbs. I make my 1/2 acre do a lot for me!

I enjoy all things Gooseberry and love the idea of fresh foods.

    Enjoy your weekend!:)

  9. Hi, Linda - Please enter me in your contest/party! I live in the country, and will probably have a small container garden on my porch - sadly that's all the space I have for a garden! I hope to try growing some veggies or strawberries in hanging containers, or raised containers as my "bender downer" doesn't work so well anymore! LOL!

  10. Linda- I just left comments on both your Facebook page and Gooseberry Patch's page there, too! Sooo much fun!! Thanks for throwing another lovely party!

  12. Linda,

The cookbook looks beautiful (how I love Gooseberry Patch art work!) but the tea towel even more lovely. What exquisite designing and stitching you do! I would love to win this giveaway -- so generous of you to do it.

We have a small garden and a short growing season here in northern New England. We grow lettuce, tomatoes, winter squash, green beans, and sometimes zucchini and summer squash. We live on 13 acres, mostly wooded, in the country, although just a few minutes from our small town.

  16. As for me, I don't have a garden as I am in a temporary living condition....however, I grew up with gardens and then when I married, I had a small one (I called it a salad garden) cause that is about all the room I had. But hoping in my next move coming the end of this month that I will have acreage and can have a big garden like I grew up with. Ain't nothing better than fresh homegrown produce.

  25. Thank you for this fun event! I have a very large garden -- in the English use of the word-2 acres of landscaped yard full of Roses and unusually flowering plants and trees. Unusual trees are my favorite of all. And I do have a pesky, mind of it's own Wisteria Vine that I absolutely adore!

  37. Last year I had my first small garden and this year I do hope to have a garden but we are in the process of waiting for our home to sell. In my hopes and dreams, I'm sure hoping for a lovely older farm home with character and at least a little bit of acreage enough to have a lovely garden spot and to have chickens and rabbits and a place for my children to enjoy roaming. We will have to see what the Lord has in mind though. Thank you for the giveaway. Blessings.

I WILL have a garden this year - not quite 10x10-but hoping it will produce well with care. I live in the country but work away from home in the city. Looking at joining a local CSA so I can do some freezing and canning.

  48. Hi Miss Linda :)
Ok, I believe I did everything to win this pretty cookbook and gorgeous tea towel :D I left a comment on GBP. I left a comment on your PFF FB. I wouldn't say that I have a garden, but I do grow some voluntary blackberries (yum) and some herbs for our rabbit to eat and for us to use. I live in the city, but would think I died and went to heaven if I could live in the country!
Thanks for hosting the party :) It is fun to see what is being given and then to see who won.

Save me one of those delicious raspberry muffins!

    Love you,

  49. I have rheumatoid arthritis and cannot do "regular" gardening anymore so my husband made me an "elevated garden" so I could still have my fresh vegetables and be able to take care of them as they should be. It works wonderfully for me, no weeds, needs very little water plus it gives me a sense of being able to still do some of the things I have always loved to do. I love it. Fresh homemade salsa and all the tomatoes the heart can stand with homemade biscuits and mayonnaise. Can't beat it. I love to collect cookbooks as well. On a bad day with my arthritis, at least I can sit and read about all of the goodies until I can get up and get cooking again.

I live outside the city in a semi-rural area in Eastern PA,(we are currently looking to move out further! we love Maine!) and we have a garden that we try to grow things in, sometimes we get nothing but weeds and dead plants :( but we keep trying! I like the cover of the cookbook, and would love to try the recipes! I have a collection of their cookbooks, most are quite old!
    Blessings to you! :)

  86. Vote #1: I will have a garden this year and hopefully it will be blessed. I have struggled with the ground the last two years since we moved into our new house and so there for our garden has just flopped. It makes my heart sad but I'm not willing to really give up just yet. This spring I will pick a new area of my yard hoping it's better drainage and the soil is good. I live right outside the "city limits" of my little town in Indiana. I grew up in California and ever since I've moved to the country, I will never live in another big city again!
God bless you Linda, you are a wonderful, encouraging and inspirational woman and I'm thankful for ladies like you! :)

  105. Linda,
The cookbook recipes look so delicious! We have a medium size garden. Some people would call it large but we have downsized over the years

  107. Hi Linda! I live in the Rocky Mountains, but it's hard to do veggie gardening with such a short growing season. We do container gardening on our deck because elk and deer will eat it all if they can reach it! We do have lots of yard, but none of it is fenced, we also have voles (or something!) so we'd have to invest in raised beds with wire bottoms, and fencing. Maybe someday!

  110. We share a garden over at our cousins home. She has flat fairly good soil, where as I live on a hillside with too much shade and red rocky soil. I do try and garden here, but I also have a deer problem... ha! That tea towel is beautiful and I can't wait to see the pattern for it. Take care, P.

  111. We live on 10 acres 8 mi from town. Dh is the gardner, I am not much of a gardner. Last year he built a raised bed. It was so much easier to pick and care for. The cookbook looks like a good one & tea towel is gorgeous. You do beautiful work. Thanks for invite to the party.

  113. I had a patio garden last year with tomatoes, cucumbers and squash but the heat killed my plants except for a handful of tomatoes. Since we live in the suburbans we will try to plan a plot of land for a garden! Yum!

  140. God has blessed me with the first home I have ever owned. It is on one acre. I will have my own little one acre"farm". I will be getting 3-4 chicks for a new coop I will have, and I am planning my first real garden. I want to see if I can grow a fruit tree like peach and apple. I am so exited, and feel so loved by God. He is restoring what has been stolen from me.

I have left messages at pff face book and gb face book too.

I live in the city and am not a gardener. I have a good friend and she and her husband live on 4 acres and raise their own beef and he is a big time farmer and they are so wonderful to share their bounty with my husband and me and several other friends as well as family. They grow tomatoes, corn, green beans, asparagus, cucumbers and potatoes. They also have blueberry bushes and grapevines and thornless blackberries and apple and peach trees! See what I mean? They grow a lot in their garden and their four cows take up probably half their acreage.

  149. I love this cookbook! Hoping to habe a raised bed garden this year. I used to have a huge garden but broke my leg and ankle a couple of years ago and now can't get down on the ground to weed it. I sure have missed my garden though so trying the raised bed this year, wish me luck.

    ReplyDelete
  150. @kathy c b: Because of arthritis, I no longer can weed either so I've had raised beds for the past 4 years. They work very well for most veggies and I still get to keep my hands in the earth :) I also love to cook & bake and I would love to add this cookbook to my tried & true oldies, some of which are falling apart but I refuse to let them go :) Thanks for entering my name in your contest.
