Another 101 Farmhouse Favorite Review!

Hello sweet ladies.........

well my vacation is almost officially over!!!! I enjoyed the days Home and are a little sad about leaving our farm to go to the college.......but I have to keep my eyes on Him and know that He plans my days! I got a lot of things done that I wanted to. I have also enjoyed seeing who has signed up for the Gooseberry Patch and Prairie Flower Farm Party! If you are one who did so........thank you!

I went shopping at Target some time back and saw these adorable little greenhouse............for starting my basil seeds. I can't remember, but I think they had some other kind of herbs also. I am sure that if you went you could still find them in the dollar area. So so cute. I will transplant them when they get bigger.

Basil is one of our families favorite herbs to grow. It is not hard to start from seed either.

When I was going through the 101 Farmhouse Favorites Cookbook I saw the Fresh Herb Pesto Sauce recipe......tonight we made some up. Making Pesto is super easy.

Fresh Herb Pesto Sauce
2 c. fresh herb leaves, coarsely chopped (I used basil)
6 cloves garlic, chopped
1 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 c. olive oil
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. grated parmesan or Romano cheese

Mix herbs, garlic, nuts, 1/2 cup oil and salt in a blender. Process until smooth, adding a little more oil if needed to make blending easier. Transfer to a bowl and stir in grated cheese. Refrigerate in an airtight container, or spoon into ice cube trays and freeze for later use. Makes about 1- 1/2 cups.

I bought some French Banquettes Bread, cut into 1/2" rounds and laid them on to a cookie sheet.... brushed with olive oil. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes. Spoon a pesto on top of bread! Sprinkle with a small amount of parmesan on top of pesto.

You will find this recipe in the Classic Country Canning section of the 101 Farmhouse Favorites Cookbook.........along with these other recipes.

Garlic Dill Pickles
Old-Time Corncob Jelly
Our Favorite Salsa
Tipton Family Spaghetti Sauce
Aunt Ruth's Dilly Beans
and
Strawberry-Thyme Jam.......
just to name a few more.

I am definitely trying this Strawberry-Thyme Jam recipe this summer.....bought some thyme seeds so I can try it out this summer!

Farm News!!!!!

Willow is still holding her own!!!!!!! She has not had her baby. I was so hopping she would have had it while I was home. Maybe she will have it while I am at work! I will let you know when I get home!

Look at what I found in my old galvanized can that I store my straw for my chickies and ducks. The big Girls left me a gift......pure sweetness! Love all my girls colored eggs!

Please prayer for my daughters and myself as we go back into the work force. We would much rather stay home......but we would much rather do what theLord has called us to do and that is to love college kids in His Name! We are so very grateful for our time here on the farm this last week and our little mini vacation to KC and Lawrence!!!!!! It was a very blessed time as family! God is good!

Hugs to all you precious ladies.......you are sweeties,

Linda

  4. Linda - I'm thinking of you today and praying for you and your girls as you work. The sun is shining here today, so I plan to get outside. We've had alot of cloudy days here in Maryland and still pretty cold. Hope your day is sunny!
