Okay to say I am excited is an understatement!!!!!!! For about 3 months I have had a secret. It happened soon after our sweet girl and sweet son in love's wedding. You know how we wanted to start having weddings on the farm using the Sanctuary? Well we started praying about it. Lots of people started encouraging us! We thought it would be neat to build a big building on the farm......were we could have little floral area.....commercial kitchen.....and a reception room....about 3 weeks later we heard that a coffeehouse was for sale!!!!!! Ekkkkkk!!!!!! "Oh Heavenly Father please give us direction....In Jesus Name....me!!!!! He has....every step of this path!!!!!!! Right now we are walking it through with Godly council. I have to stay it has been real hard for Mr. Sweet man to keep Tressy and my feet on the ground. We want to do this to please our Lord and so there has been much prayer. Our boss knows and so we are free to share with others (I have for so long wanted to tell you!!). I do know from the time we had to go outside our home to find employment, many of you have prayed that we would be able to get back to doing the things we used to do....like designing, crafting and such. Please please keep us in your prayers. We are in the beginning of the process.......some times we are so excited that our heads feel like they are going to pop off....other times we get fearful, then we are reminded the Lord has our best in mind, what ever that looks like. Mainly we want our lives to count for HIM! This would be a huge opportunity for that. We see how working at the college helped us learn the things we would need to know in running a restaurant. Amazing how the Lord works in the details of our lives when we don't know what might be in the future. We are on our 4th year at the college kitchen.....(doesn't seem that long), but He has prepared us for sure! Details have fallen into place......amazing, just need the financing and we will be set!!!!! God will provide if He wants us to have it!
"A Dream"
Now I will share a little about the "place". Our old Pastor (Dave), his wife and my friend Lynn, my crafter friend, bought and restored the "Old Home News Paper" building. They fixed it up beautifully. They sold it to an adorable family that just had their 6th baby. They need to sell it and they chose us!!!! They have used it as a ministry to the college kids and community. God has blessed them. They stepped out in faith and asked the Lord for direction and He gave it! They are the most precious family and have brought much joy to Sterling!!!!! Now with their new little one they need new owners. They knew our heart for people and told us that they were selling. Ask if Tressy and I freaked.....yup we did!
Ww were so tired!!!!!! This is of the owner Deborah (left) and our daughter Tressa. Tress was having so much fun!
So our journey began. We have been helping the Bartlett family after work in the evenings (we love it). We also worked two nights before Valentines Day and that was so much fun. Tressy loves the floral part of the store oh and the coffee!! I will take pic's of the inside of the store...... so you can see. It has a floral department, a food area where they sell nummy sandwiches, soups and salads, specialty coffees, lattes, frappes, teas, smoothies, desserts and energy bars. Now you see why want to pursue this place. We would add some new items to the menu...like gourmet cupcakes..... eekkkkk! A Dream come true, if the Lord allows it to happen! It will have to be the LORD no doubt. We want to love on Mommas and their children, college kids (they are down there all the time and they are so excited about us trying to buy it) and whoever else walks in the doors. : ) We want to do a lot of teaching classes, of things I have learned over the years. Soooo that is my story that I have not been able to share until now. We are enjoying the journey....trusting the Lord will open the doors! We have shared with the owners our hopes and dreams for the place. They are such an encouragement!
Auntie and new Bartlett baby.....precious memories!
We are getting to be a part of this precious family, they love love Jesus....they rub off on those they touch!! Our town has been blessed!
The one thing that would be fun is to invite you all to come here to our town!!!!!! Would that not be sooooo fun? I would love it and as many of you know I have prayed that you could come and be here at Prairie Flower Farm!!!!!!! I will keep praying and please join me!
Now for some fun.......last night sweet man, Tress and I had to go to Wichita. Our daughter in love told us about this wonderful place called Fresh Market..... so we wanted to see it what it is like. If the Lord lets us get Broadway we would like to put in some bulk food items. It was beautiful!!! Loved all the displaying of their foods and gift items. This display was at the front door when I came in......cute cute. I was careful with my money and only bought a few things (I wanted to buy everything in it)......just "had" to have a set of salt and pepper shakers and of course another set for a party...right? I thought of you all while I was there!
Aren't they the sweetest?????? I had to have them
pose with Missy Hen!
We will have the party starting today and have it until
Monday February 24th at noon!

So exciting. One of my dreams is to see all fifty states and I have yet to visit Kansas. We might just get to meet yet!
ReplyDeleteLove the Chicky I think you should have things like this in the store
ReplyDeleteWe certainly will be praying with you about that restaurant..............sounds so exciting and I know that the Lord would be so honored in that place......we would certainly frequent it if we lived there........
ReplyDeleteLinda! I am SO excited for your new venture!! Yes the Bartlett's did a great job and I think you all will continue to make the place a success!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of starting a group for women who want to live, learn and eat healthier and think it would be great to offer something like that through the store. Perhaps based on the Daniel Plan (not fast). And definitely with input from Angi!! This whole cancer thing has woken me to how for granted we take our health until something goes wrong and it's usually after many years of eating the standard american diet! I would like it to be a group to support one another in the growing and preserving of our own foods and even the raising of it. Back in the day, our parents grew up helping their parents on the farm or with the huge garden and the harvesting. I myself didn't have that experience nor have my kids and I sure want to learn!
Sorry to ramble on! :)
God's blessings on your new venture!
PS...I am now gonna comment on your fb page!
Sure hope your DREAM comes true....will keep you in my prayers.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! I am so excited for you. I know you will have an adorable place. If I had a place like that I would have the food items, flowers and plants, the handmade cards I make with photographs, other paper raft gift items, hand painted decorative items, and.... It would be SO much fun.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new adventure in life. God will keep guiding you.
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting venture! Quite an undertaking and such possibility for ministry! God will lead. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! My daughter and son-in-law stepped out on faith and opened up a coffee shop in Enterprise, AL, in 2008. God has blessed them every step of the way, brought people into their lives to help supply some of what they needed and their business has grown so much, so much that they were able to expand the space they have. My son-in-law is a Calvary Chapel pastor, they meet in the shop and that ministry has grown tremendously too. Praying that God will provide for all your needs in this new adventure!!
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you and your family. It has been such a blessing to watch God working in your family over the years.
ReplyDeleteLeft a Facebook comment too...:)

SOOOO excited for you! Praying our Lord makes every step clear for you!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
gg
I pray that these wonderful ideas and dreams take fruit in the Lord's will. I think this is so exciting and I'm so happy for you. I left a comment on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteWill be praying with you for God's guidance about your new venture. He loves to see His children happy in their work and I believe this will make you and your family very happy so I can already see Him in it. I think "country kitchen" type items would sell well, like your chickies but I wouldn't get a lot of any one item because people don't want to have the same decor as everyone else does plus they like to 'change up' their decor occasionally as well so it would be nice to see frequent new items. A small inventory is also easier to control or replace if something doesn't sell. Praying that God blesses your endeavour <3 †
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy and excited for you hun, have LOTS and LOTS of chicken themed things, oh and don't forget the sheep...LOL Congrads hun I know your going to do GREAT!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Shar
How exciting for you! Anything chicken is wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteI so hope that you and your family can realize your dream of the restaurant. How exciting!
ReplyDeletenancyr
I can only imagine what your family must be going through!!! Pray pray pray. He will provide! Thanks for the party!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. My daughter and son-in-law bought a small mom and pop grocery this past fall and for 2 years the Lord lead them toward it. Things just seem to fall into place when it is what the Lord wants you to do. I pray it will be the same for you. I enjoy reading your blog, but this is my first time to comment.
ReplyDeleteOh so praying for you that it all comes through and you get this sweet place. God is so good and I am so excited for you. Praying hard!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow Linda!! That is so awesome!! I can't wait to hear more and how it's going!! I love to have cupcakes or muffins with my coffee (or any pastry really LOL. Slices of pie!). Oh you could sell craft kits in the store too! I will be praying for you all!!
ReplyDeleteThe chicken kitchenware are so cute. I love the colors and would want to buy those plates if I went there! I love that they are shaped, what fun to use them! Thank you for the sweet party, you are so thoughtful!

Would love to visit, sit in a nice cozy chair with a cup of tea and some delicious baked goodie. Admiring the nice little craft corner and some bright cheery flowers. And share the Word with everyone. Hugs and best wishes for your new endeaver ;-) Vicky W.

Oh, WOW!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you, Linda! It sounds wonderful, and you're absolutely right. If it is God's will, it shall be done! You're doing all the right things, taking all the necessary steps, and it appears that it will come to pass. I love the idea of teaching crafts. I would really LO V E to come and teach a craft class for you! Wouldn't that be such fun? I piece quilts. I quilt quilts. I embroider. I crochet. I make jewelry. I make clothing. I make purses. I build cabinets with my woodworking tools. I think we could come up with a craft I could do to share! That would be such fun! Heading over to your FB page too! You're in my prayers. Best of luck in this new venture!! In everything, give thanks, GrandmaSoucie

Here's something similar to what you could do:

It was closed for a while and I would have so loved to have been able to get that shop and reopened it!! I pray that it all works out for your family. I can live my dream by keeping up with your adventure should the good Lord bless you to get your shop!

When you let God lead you down the path, you know you are going in the right direction. So, if you get to buy, that's great! If not then you know you're meant to be somewhere else. It is exciting anyway!!!
ReplyDeleteForgot to tell you that I commented on FB too!

So excited with you! I can't wait to see how God uses you and the family to bring others to Him. What a blessing.
ReplyDeleteRegina
That just warmed my heart reading how the Lord has led you through all of this. I pray you get the coffee shop and I can't wait to hear all the details. What a blessing for the family selling and for your family as well.
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet lady you are! The Son shines through you as though you are sitting across the table from me. I feel as though we "know" each other even though we have never met person to person. A coffee shop ~ what a great opportunity to be used of the Lord. My husband & I often talk about doing that if the doors would ever open up ~ because of the initial costs we haven't seen the doors open as of yet. If we are ever in your area we would love to meet you & the family. We are in Ohio and hope to make a trip northwest some day ~ may have to go through Kansas first. Will continue to pray for the Lord's will. Debbie
I just read this, so I missed the party. But, I wanted to let you know that I'll be praying for your family. This sounds just like something you would like. I pray that God will do the leading. Isn't it wonderful to know that God sometimes works in ways that we could never orchestrate ourselves. Wonderful, wonderful dreams (& fun).
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I want to say that I don't even believe you that you are on your 4th year at the college, there is no way! I remember when you were venturing off to start that, my how time has flown! Seems like last year at the latest, lol! But anyway, you are so right... I think it's amazing how God took your family there to prepare you for what He had in store for you! He knows your desires and it looks like He's giving you those desires!!!!!! Congratulations! I know you will have much fun with this. Always glory to God. Excited for you sweet Linda!
