2nd Building Our Homes Together Wednesday

Hello Sweet ladies,

Good morning, today is Wednesday. I am so thankful to the Lord for what He is doing. I am enjoying what is going on immensely. I can't wait to see some of the things you have been doing throughout this last week. Please come and join us by commenting or linking up your post to "linky" at the bottom of my post. It is not hard.

Don't forget we have a party going on. Create & Decorate/Prairie Flower Farm........sign up.......please.........last day is this Friday at noon. Can't wait to see the two winners.

Thank you Father for moving in the lives of women that are joining in this endeavor. We invite You into our Homes to help us and show us the areas that we need most. You know us intimately and know exactly what we need. We ask You to show us what your want our HOMES to look like so that we would please You in every way. Use us to make our Homes a place of refuge and a safe haven for our families and those that come to our door. Use us also to go out from our Homes and be a blessing to those You put into our path whether at the supermarket, on the street or anywhere You lead us. Help us to know those who are just overwhelmed with life and help us as we come along side them and be woman of blessing. We ask that as we come and sit at Your feet that You would help us to understand Your Words in the Bible. Please give us minds that will retain the things we have read, so that we may live in a manner that would give You honor . Help us to be the prayer warriors for our families and those we come in contact each day. Help us to pray for our children and grandchildren.......that they may pick up the baton of Christ. We know that You are the answer to all of our needs. Help us as we clean our Homes each day and give us the strength to do that. We lift Your name above all other names and call you Father.....we acknowledge now, that we want no other. We humbly and thankfully ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our Bride Groom. Amen

Building Our Homes Together Wednesday

I am so excited that we had 10 ladies "linky" up last week. It was a delight for many of us to come and read each blog and be encouraged as to what the Lord was doing in each HOME.

Some of the things I learned.......did you know that you can can squash? You can........amazing, I have always just put it in the freezer. I learned that from Likewise Ye Older Women. It will be nice to know that. Under Her Wings, Sherri's Needle CraftsPrairie Maid and Across My Table encouraged us as we got into the Word and get up if we fall down. Behind the Scenes gave us ideas on how to reach out to our neighbor. This is just a few......I will highlight each week. You can go back to our First Building Our Homes Together and  see  the other ladies that linked up.........Homemade Avocado Ice Cream

In our Home the girls and I tackled cupboards. Big time. Tressa 19 and Taylor 16 are our daughters and they are the best workers. Each one took a cupboard and organized it. We are not quiting until each cupboard in our house has been gone through. We got rid of things that we just did not need. Remember we have an older farm house. There is a lot of work to be done in it and I am using my sewing machine and a little paint to make it our own. It doesn't have to be expensive to decorate. In the kitchen some of the cupboard doors were old and the hinges were not working well, so I took two of the cupboard doors off. I then made curtains...... I loved how it lookes. Didn't cost me much more than about  $5.00 to do both of the cupboards, including the rods which I got at the Dollar Store and the fabric was on sale.

CURTAIN TUTORIAL

You will need to measure your cupboard. Now here I have to tell you that I was so excited. "Remember" it is me I am talking about........little things make me excited. Well remember my little cupboard with all the cubicles?  I can't get over how that "little cupboard" has helped organized me. I got so tickled when I knew exactly where my tape measure was. Noooo looking around for me!!!!! It was right where I put it last and I will keep doing the same thing every time I use something. RIGHT BACK IN IT"S LITTLE HOME!

I just walked over to the cupboard and there in the little jar was my tape measure. Gave me great delight. I know that sounds silly, but it did make me very very happy, because I am getting so ORGANIZED I can hardly stand it.

First I measured the cupboards. Each cupboard measured 25" x 25".

I used a sash rod. There are other kinds that you can use, but this worked best for me at this time. I wanted my curtain to be simple, FAST and easy.

I picked my fabric that I wanted to use. Now ladies are you surprised that I would pick red. Heehee. I promise, I like other colors.

You need to cut the fabric I give an extra 1/2" on the bottom to hem and an extra 2" on the top for the small ruffle and opening for the rod. Easy. Now if you use a different rod you have to allow for the extra width. I also wanted the curtain to have gather, so I used the whole 45" width of the fabric for each curtain.

Turn the bottom edge two times and hem.

Turn top edge of curtain and make a 1/4" hem.

Measure 2" and fold down. Pin in place and press with iron.

Sew along the same stitching line as the hem stitching. Stitch a  3/4" space casing for the rod.
Put rod through the casing and hang.

I like. I so enjoy coming in our little farm kitchen and seeing pretty.

Hope maybe you can use this tutorial. You can also use the same step for making a valance.

As some of you know we are having baby chicks that are hatching on the farm. They are so precious. Teeny tiny......can't believe they can be so small 18 so far. Little sweeties. This is just a small part of what the Lord is doing in building our HOME. We praise Him

I enjoyed this song this morning, thought you might also.

  7. Thought I would share what I did. I copied what I wrote on Prairie Maid's blog (Cheryl) ..ya I rambled on..lol

I'm just about ready to go outdoors (yes it's terribly hot and I'm loving it!) to work in the garden. Just got home from work (Walmart), Picked up an extra four hour shift in the garden center. Glorious!!!! I've been telling customers..."I will not complain about the heat. Just go at a slower pace, that's all. We only get a few months of hot weather than it's cold. So I'm going to enjoy this time".

I have almost got my entire back yard all set up for the spring/summer months. Was able to transplant a few more chicken in the hens, still more to go. Was able to wash my windows..yahoooooooo...I'm playing Irving Berlin music as I make my youngest son his meal before he heads off to his new job working afternoons...God IS good all the time.

Of course my time with the Lord was first thing...SIGH..oh how I love this time. I praise God for the work that He has done, for strengthening me to be consistent, for being diligent and faithful. It's really all His doing. I had the desire, He did the rest..The more we spend time with Him, He DOES make the time go slower during this time..enabling us to bask in His love, AND than start our busy busy day's.....

  9. Hello ladies, had internet off for 3 1/2 hours......it is working now. Thankful.

Susan is working on getting a blog up, until then I will put up her ideas for her. She was sent this piece from her Daddy yesterday.

This is so neat. I had never heard this before. This is beautiful - and it is surely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives.

    1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a 'sweet duty.'

    2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

    3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

    4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray enough for them.

5... And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, 'The least shall be the greatest among you.' Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

  12. Good morning ladies,

I have to tell you that our BOHT is one of the most precious gifts the Lord has given me. I have gone and read every post and all the comments that have been written. What a total blessing for each of us to be a part of. I am hearing even from ladies that are not able to link up and it is so precious what is happening. Keep it up ladies. I am seeing the same encouragement that happens in the church going on here, but it is different. A whole world is before us now. We sit in our Homes and we extend our encouragement out via from the internet. Yesterday I was on facebook. It was amazing that I could be talking to a blogger friend from France who was sitting in the Swiss Alps......she called the Swiss were my friend because they make chocolates. Sweet!! It was a precious time. I am sure you all have the same stories. So thankful that the Lord is meeting us all. I love Him so much. Keep up the encouraging......I think the ladies are being blessed......a lot.
    Have a sweet day. Linda

    Blessings, Linda
