Two Little Ones That Are New To The Farm

I have 3 momma hens that are sitting on eggs. The other day I went to check on them and I found these two little chicks. I can't keep them in the chicken coop, because of all the other hens and roosters. So I brought them in the house and put them in their bird cage. It is a really neat way to keep my babies when they are so little. I wanted to put them in with the momma Guinea, but she started getting real nervous. Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing?
Wish they could be cared for by the Momma Guinea!!!!

Don't they look so tiny in the straw?

My sister is still here and today is going to be sewing day. Can't wait to see what we come up with. Maybe some things for the store? We have always been real close, especially after we both came to Christ. It has been such a sweet friendship. I wish we lived closer, but we don't so we call all the time and when we are together it is extra special. I would love to hear from you on your relationship with your sis or sisters.

Blessings,
Linda

  2. Aaaawwwww!! They are soooooo cute. Can you get the momma out to raise them by themselves? Other than that I guess you will just have to play mommy!

So glad to hear about your relationship with your sister. I don't have a sister but I have 2 daughters whom we act more like sisters than mom and daughters I think ;-) I also have 3 sil's and we are really close and it seems that they are my sisters too!! We love to get together and do anything. I can make it a party no matter which one I am with!!!!!

Happy sewing!! Trying to get some curtains made myself today!!

  6. We got our 12 baby chicks just one day old and I kept them in the house under a heat lamp. We had to decrease the temperature each week. It is to be 90 degrees and then each week we decreased it my 5 degrees. I feed them baby chick food and they did great.

  12. Awww what cute babies! I hatch babies in the incubator about every 3 months and you do need to keep them under a heat light so they don't get chilled. Like the other poster said, start at 90 degrees and decrease each week until they are about 6 weeks old. It's hard to get a hen to take babies. The only luck I have had is with my little cochin when she already has babies she'll take more or if her babies are big enough I can take them and give her new ones and she does just fine. If I try at any other time she picks them up and tosses them around when they try to get underneath her. You will also need to feed them starter chick feed.

If you have any questions just email me and I'll help out if I can. Those guinea eggs that I moved in from the field hatched. I have 17 baby guineas in the brooder now.
