PARTY IS CLOSED recipe for cookie below!
See this little piece of artwork I did some time back? Well I dressed Him up a little bit and I am going to tell you what happened!
Hello Sweet Ladies,
I want to thank you again for all the fun emails. I have not been able to answer all of them........but I will try to do so! I do enjoy it when I am at work and I get to read the comments you leave during the day................ it makes the day go so much faster! Sooooooo now with the news!
Create and Decorate Magazine and I have a surprise for you!
Some time back I entered a cookie contest with a really neat magazine called Create and Decorate. I have enjoyed this magazine for some time and thought it would be fun try the contest. Thursday after work I received a priority envelope in the mail..........yipeeeee! I was so excited...... now you should see the envelope....... not looking good.......can't use the flat Rate Mailing Envelope ever again!!! Anyway I knew I was going to get the magazines.......just not this fast. Inside was........a surprise. They told me I had placed just not where.
Do you see my name.......Linda Stubbs, Kansas.............IN THEIR MAGAZINE!!!!!!! I placedsecond! It was so fun................ just to be in their magazine!
Here is my little man............I love HIM!
I had so much fun designing this special cookie and I will use it a lot as a special gift during the holidays to give out. I will place him in a cellophane bag and tie a ribbon and it will be a gift! I named the little cookie a HOMEspun Snowman Cookie (click here for recipe)
The art work at the top is what I used for the snowman. I designed him for a fabric line some time back..............for the cookie I added to him a hat to go on his head with some berries and holly leaves, scarf, nose and buttons using Wiltons Pure White Rolled Fondant and using Wilton Icing Colors to color the fondant. Real fun and easy!
You will love this magazine if you like crafts and recipes............go to the store or buy a subscription for the magazine. Click here.
Sooooooo I just thought we need a party. I am going to give away one of the Create and Decorate Magazine that they sent me............. and I will also make you A Homespun Snowman Cookie in my little kitchen. So lets have some fun! ReplyDeleteOne of our traditional cookies that I've made all my married life and most of my childhood is German Crisps. They aren't crispy at all, but they are rolled and cut out. Then the kids and I and usually some of their chums come over for a decorating party and we frost and decorate them. Such a fun tradition. These cookies have a hint of lemon in them.
Again congrats!

My Mom had eaten all of them her self! She told me they were so good she couldn't stop herself! This is really out of character for her but we all had a good laugh.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Mix the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Cut the shortening in until it resembles course crumbs.
Measure the egg and add enough water to make 1/4 cup, beat together. Add egg and vanilla to crumb mixture; mix well.
Put through the cookie press onto cookie sheets. Decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar if desired. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 10 -12 minutes or until very light brown and set.
Enjoy!

Hi Linda! I don't know what cookie won 1st place, but if I was the judge, I would have given you a giant, ruffly, purple GRAND CHAMPION ribbon. I love snowmen and couldn't bring myself to eat him. I would prop him up on a plate stand...Anyway, my favorite CHRISTmas cookie is decorated sugar cookies made with our antique metal cookie cutters. My grandma couldn't keep her hands off of them. She would always sneak into the kitchen and swipe one (or two) in between meals. I always remind my mother of this at CHRISTmas and we smile at that shared memory. Thank you for entering me in your magazine giveaway.
