Our evening was so fun. Our daughter's gave us a decorated card saying we had dinner, their treat...... at any restaurant we wanted to go to. Our girls are so precious to us!!!!!!
Thought you would like to know the hen's body temperature is 105 to 106 degree every time! When the hen sits on the eggs the eggs heat to 100 to 101 degrees. She will turn the eggs on a regular basis. God is so amazing to create the nesting instinct in a hen to know what to do!
I will be fixing a little cage of some sorts to go around them so the other girlies won't bother them. Cochins are such good setters, if you are wanting to have them do the incubating for you! I have the date they will hatch on my calendar. March 5th is the due date!
I am taking names for the Girlie Hen on the right if you would like to give a name..........a little surprise for the name that wins!
Blessings from our farm,
Linda
"Well not a whole lot of help, but the Mayo staff and doctors were really nice. We are going to try a medicine to bring down her pulmonary hypertension..doc says it only has a10~20% chance to work. So until we get that down no heart surgery. Still praying for a miracle".
Thank you ladies for all the prayers!!!!!!!
HI Linda,
ReplyDeleteOh, cool...new baby chicks on the way :) :) :) Hmm...a name for that one girlie hen? How about Miss Molly? :) :) :)
I'll be keeping Delainey in my prayers :) :)
Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
How funny........I wondered if someone would pick that name~ I really can't wait..... makes spring a little more real!
DeleteThis is so precious. Thank you for making the video. If your one girlie is Miss Milly, maybe her sister is Miss Tilly :-)
ReplyDeletePrecious!!!!!!!! You girls have thought of two cute names!!!!!!!!
DeleteHope all is well with you! Hugs, me
Henrietta. She looks like a Henrietta to me.
ReplyDeleteHow about Matilda? Love seeing about your girlies. I live on the outskirts of a town, literally around the corner from farms but my sub-division does not allow farm animals. :(
ReplyDeleteHi, I thought Matilda and then saw the note from 'cropnmoomsie'suggesting that name, so how about "Billie" as another suggestion? It is fun to watch them :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I saw the video and thought she looked like a Minnie Pearl. Can't wait to see the little chicks! I appreciate your blog and the encouragement you give to all of your readers!
ReplyDeleteLinda~ I, too, have two broody hens, but I have too many chickens now so I am not letting them set. It will be hard not to have babies this spring! :~{
ReplyDeleteI was just storing away some books that I had out for the granddaughters, and one is an old discarded school library book called 'Speckles Goes to School'. It is about a boy bringing his hen to school for the other children to watch her hatch out a setting of eggs. Thought since you are showing others about your hens, Speckles might be a cute name.
Have fun with those girlies!
Hi Linda, My name is Lori (lorilegere@hotmail.com) I had the suggestion for Minnie Pearl.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! We have some Silkie hens that like to go broody, too:))
ReplyDeleteHmmm . . . chicken names . . . Matilda, Betty Lou, or Miss Lilly to rhyme with her neighbor Miss Milly??
She looks like a Georgie to me! Oh they are so gentle and cute, I'm not 'allowed' chooks yet but we have two brand new ducklings, my little boy named them blue and white! They are so much fun to watch! C: prayers, Corinne
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteHow are you? Your chickens are soooo cute. There are so many good name options already, I like the Matilda one. But for my own suggestion - how about Miss Elise....no particular reason, just thought of it when I was watching your video.
Have a great day,
Selina.
How about Miss Penny? (from the sky is falling Miss Henny Penny) I loved your video. You have such a soothing voice. :D Great news that baby chicks are coming. Donna

ReplyDeleteSince we give God the glory for all blessings both great and small in our lives, how about Miss Gloria. God gave us these and other wonderful creatures to help provide for us each day. You,too, bless us with your positive and inspiring posts. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVickie
How about Ms. Thatcher? (for Milly Thatcher). They're beautiful setting there, Linda!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know chickens turned their eggs..God thought of everything! Linda, do chickens have different personalities like dogs and cats. You have gotten me so interested in chickens.....thanks for the adorable video...
ReplyDeleteI like Miss Sophie. What pretty chickens! I wish I could have some!

So fun to watch the cute girlies tuck their eggs! Just amazing! I suggest the name "Maggie" to go along with her friend Millie.
ReplyDeleteHow about Miss Ellie?
ReplyDeleteI like all the names suggested... my question is about the eggs. Why did you get more eggs and put under them? Can they hatch an egg they didn't lay and one that was produced at a different time by a different chicken? Also thought it might be just because they were young so they could have more eggs to sit on. As you can tell, I know nothing about chickens! I did grow up in the country though.
ReplyDeleteI first thought of Miss Molly and Henny Penny, but noticed both were already posted. So, guess my other name would be Miss Willie Mae or Miss Frilly.
ReplyDeletePraying for all the little sick babies. I had a very sick baby 41 years ago. With the grace of God, she is a beautiful, healthy, and precious Mommy today.
your blog is a joy - and thank you for sharing the video - Praise and Glory be to GOd
ReplyDeleteoh - she looks like a Tabitha - Miss Tabitha, or Tabby for short :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the sweet names!!!!!!!! I love them and can't wait to see what name our little Girly will have. I will let you all know on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteKnow I will be thinking and praying for you all..........what precious gifts you all are........every single one!
Hugs and good night......off to bed! Me
Since they change nests, I think her name should be Silly Willi!
