ANOTHER BOUQUET OF FLOWERS

Hello everyone,
Just another reminder to tell you about the Clothespin giveaway. Scroll down to July 23. and leave a comment! Thank you to all of you who have already signed up!!!! Hope you are all enjoying your summer. It was absolutely beautiful today!! Woke up to cool and crisp weather outside.

I was given another bouquet of flowers. My oldest came in with a beautiful bouquet. I thought I would share with you. I have been so busy around here designing two new fabric designs and haven't been able to be outside much. It was a wonderful treat to walk around, hear the birds singing and take pictures. Hope you enjoy what I saw.

I am selling these signs at Farmer's Market. Really fun to do. See the sweet bouquet? Love it!!

Check out this little "dude". I jumped....I let him stay and share my flower's.
I am sure he is eating bad bugs.

Next year the flowers will spread even more I hope.

I just joined Mary Jane Farm Connection.I am meeting so many wonderful farmgirls!!!! Anyone that likes gardening, farming, sewing, quilting, talking or writing, encouragement, and so on. Go and check it out!!!!! It is so neat. She has a lot going on over there!

Well back to painting. You all pray for me. I am getting tired. Wal Mart will be in next week to look at the collections at the company I license my artwork with. Hope they take them!! I need the Lords blessing. Thank you for praying.
Blessings,
Linda

Garden Kosher Dill Pickle Recipe

When we were at Farmer's Market this last Sat. I had a jar of "Our Garden Kosher Dill Pickles". Everyone wanted the recipe, so here it is. It is so easy and you will love it!!! I am sorry I couldn't let you taste them at market. They are so crunchy, because you don't process them. You just refridgerate! My girls and I were in the kitchen last week, trying to think what we could do with our squash. I had the idea to put them in our pickle recipe. We have been making our pickles for about 3 years by putting them in the refrigerator instead of processing them. It works and we thought it would be fun to display them at Farmer's Market and it was a hit.

My garden is getting to be full of wonderful pickle cucumbers!! I just love it. They make the best pickles.
Here are all the ingredients you will need for your "Garden Pickles
Slice all the veggies that you are going to use. I have not tried cauliflower or carrots, but I think they would be good. Add the veggies in layers to mason jars.
Hope your gardens are producing for you and you are busy putting it all up! If you would like to email me pictures of your garden I would enjoy so much seeing it. Don't forget to sign up for our "Clothespin Bag giveaway!!!!!!!
Blessings,
Linda

"Prairie Flower Market Bags"

"Prairie Flower Market Bag"
I have been working on our new design called "Prairie Flower Market Bags." I have been enjoying working with the fabric combinations (my favorite part of sewing). We will soon get them into our "new blog Store" (that will soon be up) and have them for market.

Here is a little close up shot of the detail on our market bag. The pocket is for your coupons, wallet or phone.

Just got accepted to the Kansas Grown Market in Wichita, Kansas. There's a lot of excitement around our farm. We have been getting ready for the market it seems for months. All the little seedlings are huge plants. This Saturday will be our first time of going. Meeting the people will be one of our favorite parts.

Here is a picture of the Un-sewn banner. It turned out toooo fun!! I designed a banner for the front of our booth. Can't wait to start decorating our booth! when we get the booth set up we will put up some pictures.

Vegetables and special baked goodies will be on the menu for the market.. Scones and Focaccia Bread will be one of our specialties.

Hope all is going well out there for you all!

Blessings,

Linda

IF I COULD SEND YOU FLOWERS

OUR DAUGHTERS HAD TO GO ON AN ERRAND FOR US. WHEN THEY CAME BACK HOME THEY HAD A SURPRISE FOR ME. THEY HAD PICKED FLOWERS ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I JUST LOVE THEM!!!I I DECIDED THAT I WOULD SHARE. I WENT TO GET A FEW FLOWERS FROM AROUND THE FARM TO GIVE SOME MORE COLOR. THESE ARE FOR EACH ONE OF YOU! I HOPE YOU ENJOY. I WISH I COULD HAND DELIVER THEM TO EACH ONE OF YOU, BUT I CAN'T. JUST KNOW YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS AND HAVE ENJOYED EACH COMMENT THAT YOU HAVE LEFT ME. HAPPY JULY!

I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT IS THE 1st OF JULY. OUR FAMILY ALWAYS HAs SO MUCH FUN ON THE FOURTH. THE TOWN WE LIVE IN HAS AN OLD FASHIONED 4th OF JULY, WITH A PARADE AT THE TOWN LAKE THEY HAVE TURTLE RACES, A SILVER DOLLAR SAND PILE, 5 k RACE, BABY CONTEST, AND SINGING IN THE EVENING. A TOWN PICNIC IS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. VENDORS COME FROM ALL OVER TO SELL THEIR WARES. IN THE EVENING FIREWORKS ARE SHOT OFF AROUND THE LAKE AND

ARE JUST INCREDIBLE. IT REALLY IS A SPECIAL TIME FOR OUR LITTLE TOWN. SINCE WE WILL BE HAVING FAMILY OUT HERE WE THOUGHT WE WOULD TRY OUT SOME RECIPES. I HAVE A FEW FOR YOU TO TRY. IF ANYONE WANTS THE FOCACCIA BREAD LET ME KNOW. IT IS SUPER EASY.

BRUSCHETTA WITH PESTO AND CHUNKY TOMATO SALSA

ONE TOMATO, 1/4 OF A SMALL ONION, OLIVE OIL, 1/2 TSP. OF

ITALIAN SEASONING AND CRUSHED BLACK PEPPER.

CHOP ONE TOMATO INTO SMALL PIECES. ADD OLIVE OIL

CHOP ABOUT A 1/4 OF AN ONION, ADD TO CHOPPED TOMATO
AND OLIVE OIL. SHAKE IN ITALIAN SEASONING AND CRUSHED
BLACK PEPPER TO TASTE.

CUT FOCACCIA BREAD, THEN CUT HORIZONTAL.

LAY FACE OPEN ON A COOKIE SHEET AND BRUSH OLIVE
OIL ON THE TOP OF BREAD. THEN SPRINKLE SOME PARMESAN
CHEESE ON THE TOP OF THE OIL.

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR OVEN RACK IS IN
PLACE AT THE TOP. BROIL BREAD UNTIL CRISPY ON
THE TOP AND SIDES. THIS PICTURE LOOKS A LITTLE
FUNNY. IT DIDN'T LOOK THAT WAY WHEN I EDITED IT.
OH WELL.

FRESH BASIL PESTO
MAKING FRESH PESTO IS VERY EASY. YOU NEED 2 CUPS OF FRESH BASIL, 3 CLOVES OF GARLIC, 1/2 CUP OF OLIVE OIL AND 1/2 CUP OF GRATED PARMESAN CHEESE. SOME PUT IN PINE NUTS. WE DON'T CARE FOR THEM SO WE DON'T PUT THEM IN, BUT IF YOU WANT THEM PUT ABOUT 1/2 CUP IN..

I WORKED SO HARD AT TAKING THIS PICTURE IN MY KITCHEN. I FINALLY HAD TO GO OUTSIDE. IT WAS GETTING TO LATE AND THE HOUSE WAS GETTING DARK. EVERYTIME I WOULD TAKE A PICTURE THE PARMESAN WAS A GLARE. NOW I AM PROOFING EVERYTHING AND NOTICED THAT I DIDN'T PUT THE GARLIC IN THE PICTURE. USE YOUR IMAGINATION. SMILE! IT HAS BEEN QUITE A DAY. WE DO NOT HAVE OUR AIR CONDITIONER WORKING. IT QUIT LAST NIGHT. I AM SO VERY SAD. LOOKS LIKE IT WON'T BE RUNNING TILL NEXT MONDAY. THIS 4th COULD BE QUIT EVENTFUL.

FRESH BASIL FROM MY GARDEN!!!! IT SMELLS SO GOOD!

ADD ALL THE INGREDIENTS (DON'T FORGET THE GARLIC), INTO YOUR FOOD PROCESSOR!

BLEND TO MAKE A PASTE. IT WILL SMELL SO GOOD AND WILL FILL YOUR KITCHEN WITH THE YUMMIEST SMELL!

SPREAD FRESH PESTO ON THE TOP OF EACH PIECE OF BREAD.
PUT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT ON.

SPOON ON THE TOMATO SALSA. IT IS READY TO EAT! TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK...

I ATE THIS WITH ZUCCHINI AND YELLOW CROOK NECKED SQUASH THAT I PICKED THIS MORNING FROM OUR GARDEN. I ADDED BABY CARROTS, BROCCOLI AND DRIZZLED SOME OLIVE OIL OVER THE TOP. SPRINKLE WITH GARLIC SALT. PLACE THE VEGGIES ON A PIECE OF FOIL. TAKE TO THE GRILL AND GRILL TILL TENDER. MMMMM GOOD!

GREAT WAY TO USE YOUR SQUASH. THINGS ARE STARTING TO HAPPEN IN THE GARDEN! THE SQUASH BUGS HAVE KILLED 4 HUGE PLANTS NOW. I TRIED THE SOAP AND WATER MIX ON THEM THIS MORNING. PLUS I AM KILLING THEM. YUKKKKK! THEY ARE SO GROSS. HAS ANYONE HAD MUCH SUCESS IN GETTING RID OF THEM? I HAVE LOOKED UNDER THE LEAVES AND I'M GETTING THE EGGS AND LITTLE ONES. KILLED SOME BIG ONES ALSO.
BLESSINGS,
LINDA
