The Girlies Switched Nests........Silly Girls!

Hello sweet ladies,

Thank you for all the sweet names. I will wait until Saturday when I have more time and see who is going to win on the name. I love them all and when I need names for other girls......I sure will have a lot to pick from.

Here is the second day of the girls laying on their eggs.

I went out to the milk house to check on the Girlies when I got home! I couldn't believe it.......... Miss Milly was on the right hand side of the nest instead of on the left hand side.  "No name" was on top of a cage eating and drinking away. I went to feel her eggs and they were still toasty warm. They do leave their nest during the day at times. Some will not leave the nest for anything. They must have gotten a little confused when they got back to their nests.

Miss Milly is so puffy don't you think?

Here is our horse Juneau with a little one in her tummy! She is going to have her colt hopefully the first part of April.

She is looking so good! She is one big quarter horse for sure. Kiowa on the left is the horse that broke a bone in her ankle. She has been healing real well.

Well I keep plugging along on the pattern design. It is turning out like I like! I have only one more day and then I can come Home and get more done!!!! That will be so nice!

Anything going on special on your blog or in your life?

Blessings and may the Lord bless you precious ladies.

Two Of My Girlie Hens Are Broody!!!!!!!

Hi sweet ladies, hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday. It was fun in the bakery as we made some special treats for the kids. They seemed to like

Our evening was so fun. Our daughter's gave us a decorated card saying we had dinner, their treat...... at any restaurant we wanted to go to. Our girls are so precious to us!!!!!!

Tonight when I got home I went straight out to do chores. Two of my girlies, Miss Milly and (?, she needs a name) started setting  yesterday..........on their eggs. I noticed that both of them were really tucked down and puffed out full in each of their nests. When I went out tonight they were the same as yesterday. I got so excited, because that means they are probably broody. I noticed the wire basket tucked in the corner....... had 4 eggs in it, from the other cochin girlies.  I gathered the eggs and put them in the front of my sweatshirt. Then I ran inside the house and got some more eggs that I had gathered last night.  I gave each of them 4 more eggs. They tucked the extra eggs under their tummies. Thought it would be fun if I videoed them so you could watch them tuck the little eggs under their feathers.

Thought you would like to know the hen's body temperature is 105 to 106 degree every time! When the hen sits on the eggs the eggs heat to 100 to 101 degrees. She will turn the eggs on a regular basis. God is so amazing to create the nesting instinct in a hen to know what to do!

I will be fixing a little cage of some sorts to go around them so the other girlies won't bother them. Cochins are such good setters, if you are wanting to have them do the incubating for you! I have the date they will hatch on my calendar. March 5th is the due date!

I am taking names for the Girlie Hen on the right if you would like to give a name..........a little surprise for the name that wins!

Blessings from our farm,

Linda

Here is a note from Grammy Sue, Delainey,
"Well not a whole lot of help, but the Mayo staff and doctors were really nice. We are going to try a medicine to bring down her pulmonary hypertension..doc says it only has a10~20% chance to work. So until we get that down no heart surgery. Still praying for a miracle".

Thank you ladies for all the prayers!!!!!!!

We Have Internet!

Hello sweet ladies,

Well last night I started to write a post and then the internet died. The wind had been howling and blowing for hours. I think that the tower which is on top of the grain elevator must have been damaged somehow. We were also getting snow........that part was beautiful, but the wind was making chores not so much fun! My sweet man did them for me........he let me I stay in the house....he is like that! It was on when we got home! Thankful!

My friend Rosa had given me 3 sweet potatoes at CHRISTmas time.......two to have for dinner and one so I could start my own slips. Slips are the green leafy shoots that will come off the potato. They are used to plant into the ground when the weather gets warmer so you can grow sweet potatoes. It is really easy to do and if you want to do this the middle of February is the time to start. Then you will be ready for spring. This weekend I will get some of my other seeds going. I thought I would show you what I did! I will show two ways!

Growing sweet potato slips.

Cut a sweet potato length wise in half..........

use some potting soil and put about 3" into a bread pan (I also used some old horse manure). Place the sweet potatoes with flesh side on top of soil. Water the soil, *make your own watering jug.

Wrap the bread pans in plastic wrap and place in a warm place . It will give a greenhouse affect. I put mine on top of the refrigerator until this weekend. When the slips start growing take the plastic off and after they get 5" to 6" place in water in a mason jar so they will root.

Here is another easier way to start growing your slips. Just stick the sweet potato in a wide mouth cup and put it by a window. You will be surprised at how fast this will grow! After the slips get to about 5" to 6" take them off at the place where it starts to grow and put into a large mason jar with water. Keep them in the water until you are ready to plant in your garden. They are expensive to buy at the garden stores, so you will be saving money by doing it this way. Plus it is a little like having a garden in your house.

* Take the lid to a milk jug. Using a thick needle poke it into the lid. Make sure that your milk jug is cleaned out real good. Fill it with water and  put the lid back onto the jug. Use this for your watering jug. Works great! Even for outside. I have a tin one, but this is nice to have in the house.

I saw this on Pinterest. It was pinned from Country Living. I think Prairie Flower Farm......needs a gold fish or two. I have a jar kind of like this, not with the adorable decal though.......but the jar would be perfect. When I get them, I will show you. I think the grandkids will love it!

Tomorrow is Valentines Day and I will make these......

for breakfast for the kids......aren't they beautiful?

Tenlee and Kesa her Momma

I have a surprise for all of you who have prayed for little Tenlee.
"Vent off and rocking with Mommy"!!!!

Praising God!!!!!!!! Thanking Him big time for Tenlee's miracle!!!!!!!

Prayer Request needed!!!!!!!!!

Picture of a bundled Delainey the pic is dark, but how precious is she?

Here is an update from Delainey's Grammy Sue.

First of all, I want to thank you and all the "sweet ladies" for praying for our Delainey.  She is on her way with Daddy and Mommy to Rochester, MN, The Mayo Clinic, for an echo cardiogram and a consultation.  Please pray the doctors will find some way to help our dear girl.  She has several areas affected by the Trisomy 18:  heart, lungs, digestive system, a dislocated hip, curvature of the spine, and some minor problems associated with her condition.  She is strong, having survived to 15 months of age on 2/15/12.  Her mom wanted to celebrate her "Golden Birthday", being 15 months old on February 15, and so we did yesterday.  She is so sweet with smiles that melt your heart, and she so brave.

Delainey has never had a road trip before.  This won't be easy, as she is on oxygen, a heart/breathing monitor, and feedings through the g-tube in her nose to her tummy.  Praise God, they had to buy her a bigger car seat, as she has outgrown her first one.  She weighs only 11.5 lbs.  About 24 inches long.  Small, but mighty in the Lord.

Well, I need to work a little bit on my pattern.......it is coming along fine! I am liking it......a lot! The Lord has been so precious. I will be working along asking for help....and this neat idea will come to my mind.....I will try it and it is exactly what I needed!

Happy Valentines Day sweet ladies!!!!!!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13

Love you!!!!!!!

Hugs to your day,

Linda

His Word Alone.....and A Refreshed Day!

Good Morning sweet ladies!!!!!!!

He is such a precious gentle......man!

Yesterday was so wonderful.........as I said I was going to stitch the day away and listen to sermons.......I did just that. With a our son's family sprinkled a little in the day, perfect. I had paper in hand..fabric ready...... I.........prayed and the Lord met me.......I just love walking with Him.......He so wants to be with me and I with Him. If I just lean on Him during my day. Saying He is my best friend is an understatement! For instance........I knew that I wanted this certain quilt block for my pattern. I knew that it wasn't called an Ohio Star, but couldn't remember the name of it. I searched for an hour on the web to find what it was. I could have done it myself, but getting the right measurements would have taken me lots of time. Sooooo like I said..... I searched and searched.

Finally I was just about at the end of searching.  I thought to myself ......... I would look at just one more link. Ladies, I about fell off my chair noooooo kidding! I started having this "PRAISE" time....telling God that He really really did care about the desires of my heart and thank you so much!!!!!! I was in awe again......for the thousandth time! Isn't that just so precious of Him? I was on a roll........I had my first piece for my pattern.......so much fun!

Remember yesterday when I asked, if anyone needed a Bible.......well I got an email back. One thing that the precious lady said, that blessed not only my heart, but the Lords. She said, "I would treasure receiving your extra copy! I love this precious person. God's Word will be going to live "in" her home.........thank you Jesus! Thank you Father for giving me the idea when I saw the extra Bible! I will be buying another.......maybe you might want to do the same on your blog ladies......what a fun thing to do!

I have been refreshed........I will be ready to go back to serve the kids at the college. My Momma sat at the table yesterday......again......I am so grateful to everyone of you precious ladies that prayed for her.

One more thing..........two of my ducks were killed by a bobcat. We had been doing so well. The other 3 ducks are in the chicken house........life on a farm! Guess I will be buying some more ducks this spring at the farm store.......I have to replace them right? I will tell my sweet man! teehee!

Hugs to your SONday!

Linda

P.S. If you would like to read about Vitaliy...... go to my daughter in loves blog. He is growing up so fast and loves his American family!

Kristina's  HOME!

All is well.......and I am thankful that His mercies are new every morning. Momma was looking and tracking with her eyes real well yesterday. Thank you so much ladies for praying.......I am so so thankful for all of you.

It is wonderful sitting in my toasty little farmhouse today and getting to have a sweet day to sew! We will be listening to sermons and refreshing our souls all day long.

Before I start a new pattern I have prayed.....prayed....prayed and will continue to pray, as I sketch my idea out. I will be putting fabrics together and enjoying my self!  This idea has been in my mind for some time. First thing I do is get a plastic tub. I gather everything I think I might want to use, that way I don't have to look for things. I am ready now that the giveaway has been chosen!!!!!! I will get to work on it all day today!

Here are a few things I saw this morning......thought you might like to see. It is sun shining outside, but very very cold!

The guys and girls were basking in the sun in front of the milk house!!!!!!!

Just wanting you to know that you are so loved by Jesus......I will continue to tell you until I am here No more!!!!!!! You are so precious to Him......I am just here to let you know that! If you need prayer today......just let me know......I will have time to pray. It is hard out there some days! I tasted it this last week and was so thankful I had my Lord to get me through.....I look back on my week and His strength was there! Preciousness!!!!!!!

I have an extra Bible, if you would like it write me here. prairieflowerfarm@gmail.com

Hugs and blessings to your day from my farm,

My Momma is Better!!!!!!!!

Hello sweet ladies,

What a week! I am so thankful that it is Thursday and tomorrow is my last day of the week to work!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!! I have so much to be thankful for tonight. After work I went to go and check on my Momma. She was sitting in a chair.......and looking so much better! I was ecstatic. I had no idea that she was doing so well. They told me that she had some food at lunch, (she has to have it pureed) and they would feed her again tonight. Talk about precious! THANK YOU JESUS! I want to thank all of you who also stayed faithful and prayed for her. I am forever grateful! Please let me know when I can pray for you!

I feel like a ton of bricks has been lifted off my shoulders. Have some joy in my heart again. I am so thankful my Momma is still with.........Momma's are needed even if they are not the way you would like it to be......"no talking" in my case......I can talk to her and that is just fine.

I received a package the other day........I really didn't even get to excited about it at the time........ because my mind was with my Momma.......but tonight I got into the fabric.......can't wait to get my hands on it this weekend! I will share when I get my idea finished. I have been waiting for this fabric to arrive.......I love it.......will be fun to show you what has been in my for a long time!

When I got home and went to go check around the farm.......

love this little birdhouse......... it is sitting on a chair close to where two of the Girlies lay eggs. One of the girls didn't disappoint me...... same place........tucked in the straw was an egg! Good girl!

It felt so good to not feel heavy of heart as I had this last few week........so nice to work a little outside.

I looked over to checked on my garlic.........I was surprised to see that it had been growing.......it's all because of the warmer weather. Really getting cold though, how about your weather? Snow maybe here again on Sunday.

It was getting colder as it got darker so I came inside.......washed dishes and fixed some chicken soup for the girls and myself..........num.

I received a note from Regina today...........
Tenlee does have a staff infection in her lungs and is being treated with antibiotics.  Last night Kisa called to say that her xrays looked a little better.  We can't wait to go see her this weekend.

Thank you for praying......I will keep you posted when I hear more on Tenlee!

Don't forget to sign up for our Party, if you haven't already!!!!!!! You have Friday and Saturday until noon to sign up! Go here to sign up please.

Please come and sign up!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to all you precious ladies and again thank you.......for being there for our family!!!!!!!!!!

Merciful and faithful Lord, because of Your great love I am not consumed, for Your compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him." Lord, You are good to those whose hope is in You, to the one who seeks You. (Lam. 3:22-23) From Praying God's Word, Beth Moore.

I know that just because I seek the Lord that I will not get everything I ask for.......but this time He gave me my Momma.....until He calls her.....I will enjoy our time together!!!!!

Just another day!

Hello sweet ladies,

First thank you so much for all the sweetness and prayers. What precious women you all are! I wish I could write each of you, but time just isn't permitting it.

This morning I called the manor to check on my Momma. The nurse said that she did real well through the night and her fever was down. Later today she had her fever back and by the time I was off work her fever broke again. It is an up and down thing. I ask that you would continue to pray for her and for myself and that I will accept what the Lord has for our lives! God is good and He doesn't make mistakes......I do know that. I can trust Him with my life and my Momma's.

One more thing that we could use prayer on, is both of our girls are sick with fevers and colds. That is not good, because at work where they work with, we have 5 caterings plus the regular baking we have to do. That means me.......alone if they don't get better tonight. I am already a little wiped out myself and can't think about being alone at work! Smiling!

Tonight I needed to relax a bit......sooooooo.... I got on Pinterest and found some things I liked. When I go to Pinterest you don't have to think!

In Katrina's Kitchen

Think this would be so easy to make for the kids.

I have wanted to do strawberry plants and tried to do a few last year........it didn't work, but I think that this would be something I could do! It doesn't have a pattern, but it looks easy to do.

Your Cup of Cake

Another recipe for the bakery.

I needed this......it made me smile! Wonder what the girlies were saying to each other?

Thank you again for being there today for us.......I know the Lord used
your prayers........asking for blessings to be sent your way.......

You are all precious!!!!!!

Hugs,

Linda
