New Recipe......The Best Scones Ever

Hello Sweet Ladies...........

been a busy morning.......all the animals and feathered friends are fed and watered........baby that was in the beautiful blue Araucanna egg hatched........it is fluffin' up so you can meet him or her.

We baked from "The CHRISTmas Table". You are going to like this recipe......a LOT! You know that we work in the college kitchen during the fall and winter months. We bake for breakfast lunch and dinner. We have a lot of fun making scones from our favorite scone recipe and the kids love them. Well I saw this one in the "Cozy CHRISTmas Brunch" section and thought we should try it for breakfast this morning...........OH MY! NUM!!!!!!! It was really really wonderful and we will be using it when we start back in the fall.

The Best Scones Ever
3 c. all purpose flour
1/3 c. plus 2 T. sugar, divided
1-1/3 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. butter, softened and sliced
1 c. buttermilk
Optional: 1 c. cinnamon chips, white chocolate chips, raisins or currants, or 1/2 c. crystallized ginger, dried apricots or dried cherries, chopped. We used chocolate chips this morning.

In a large bowl, stir together flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. (We use our food processor) instead of this next step. Using a pastry blender, cut butter into flour mixture until mixture is coarse and crumbly. Add buttermilk; stir with a fork until a soft dough forms. Add optional ingredients, if using. Gather dough into a ball, pressing gently to hold together. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface; knead about a dozen times, or until dough is no longer sticky. Cut dough ball in half. Roll or pat dough into a 1/2 inch think, 7 inch circle Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Cut circle into 6 to 8 wedges; place on ungreased baking sheets. Repeat steps with remaining dough. Allow dough to rest 10 minutes. This is me writing.........do this step it has Amazing results!
Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes until golden. Cool on wire racks Makes 12 to 16.

Party has been EXTENDED until Saturday the 25th
you might want to tell your friends?

You can go here and sign up, if you haven't and would like to! HERE

Still working on the writing for the new pattern today. While I was writing I heard this song on the radio. How can we not lift our hands high in praise to the God of the Universe who created us in His image? Well this morning I am lifting them HIGH! What a precious Father we have. At the end when all the people in the audience are singing...... it broke me  and I thought....what must the Lord have thought when His children were singing to Him.

All you precious ladies enjoy your day!

Hugs from the farm and please keep praying for me as I write the instructions for the new pattern.

Linda

He is waiting for YOU! Sweet thought!

It Is Monday........a Full Day!

Hello sweet ladies,

First off, thank you to all who prayed for rain. It came down very nice, with pea size hail that didn't last for long. We were thankful for that. One town had tennis size hail. OUCH! We only got about an 1/8th of inch, but it was rain and it smelt wonderful!!!!!!! The horses loved it, but after awhile went into the shed for cover. Cleaned the dust from the air and that was so nice! Thank you very much and we do need to continue to pray for rain all over the country! Some need it so bad.

The cattle egrets were out in the field with the horses.......I have never noticed them before, but it was nice to watch as they enjoyed the rain.

I have to show you what happened last night when I went to close up the milk house.  Lookie ( I know that is not a word, but it fits), here who was on the floor in the straw.....running around while all the other chicks were watching.......a new baby chick. I can't figure why the Momma hen is not keeping them in her nest. This is the second one I have found on the ground. They fall about 2 feet. I couldn't believe how fast this little guy was and how hard it was to catch him. Sweetness!

Here is one more little sneak peak!

Every Monday is always sooooo full for us after a weekend. I will be busy working on the instructions for the new pattern,  I would love prayer for clarity, please. It is always hard to put into words as I write up the pattern. Everyone has their own way of understanding.

One more thing, the party has been extended until  May 25th for the Gooseberry Patch/Prairie Flower Farm Cookbook Party.

The CHRISTmas Table! You are welcome to sign up HERE to sign up if you would like!

Have a sweet day.......you are in my prayers and so nice to see the new followers!

Hope Your Day Is Restful!

Good Morning Sweet Ladies,

I have been listening to Passion 2012 on the internet for the last few days as I have been sewing. The Lord is getting me ready to go back out into the mission field next August. I am realizing more and more that it was the Lord who pushed our family out into the world (Sterling College). We have always been mission minded in our home and have reached out lots over the years to the unsaved. The fact that our family is together working there and I know that was a huge answer prayer for my sweet man and myself when we were asking for a job. Scary at first yes.......but as I was listening to the Passion 2012 the Lord was showing me that He has been the one in control and pushing us. The summer break is giving us some rest (hahaha farming....restful?) and I am so so grateful to Him that He is in control.

I have to share this little story. Over 30 plus years ago when our boys were little I wanted to work in a crisis pregnancy center to help be there for the mommas and their  little babies in their wombs. I was an unwed momma as some of you know and I had such a heart for young women who found themselves pregnant and not married. I tried going to the center and like I said my children were young and the going each week got to much for me to leave my boys. So I started giving pregnancy tests from our home. I was known around our area that I could do that. It was also a way for us to share Jesus. Well I got a call......a young lady needed a test.......she showed positive........I got to go and meet her precious family and helped her as she told them. Over the years I would see this girl. When I started working at the college, God in his precious mercy brought this same girl into my life....to work with......need I say more..... He is using me to love her for Him......."Amazing love how can it be, that he would save a wretch like me".....to do His Work on this earth.......I am in awe. The tapestry is continuing to be stitched together........from way back to all those years ago. His Golden thread is being woven......to share Christ......I will go........not always feeling prepared...but that is okay......He has already prepared the way.....I just need to stay on "His path" and tell the story of what HE has done in my life!

Nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I KNOW whom I have believed, and am PERSUADED that HE is able to keep that which I have committed unto HIM again that day. 2 Timothy 1:12

This video was one of my favorites. Louie Giglio Part 5 if you would like to listen to it. So so good. It is directed to young people, but it can used at any age.

The Lord is asking me, are you shining in your home......the work place.....where the Lord has placed you....... that is your mission field? I am asking the Lord to prepare our family for service this next fall. He will answer!

Hugs from the farm,

Linda

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!

Hello sweet ladies....

Today I am out in the garden, horse corral, sheep pen, just plain being all over the farm!!!!!!

This morning I got to sleep in......it was wonderful! As soon as I got out of bed I went down to the milk house........all the little fluffs where telling me they needed to be feed. Momma's needed food and water also. Two Momma's got off their nests and this is what I saw on ones nest. To think that there were precious little fluffs being formed on the inside......amazing. I was in such a sweet communion with my Heavenly Father.......again, thankfulness to the max! I just had to show you what they look like.......do you realize that the Momma hen has a perfect temperature at all times. God designed her to do that as she sat on her eggs. Love it!!!

Well I am off to go and buy some chicken wire......moving some of the bigger chicks outside.......going to sit by my sweet man like old times.........farm life at it's best!

Hugs to your day from the farm,
Linda

Another Recipe From The CHRISTmas Table!

Hello sweet ladies,

Just wanted to remind you that we are still having a party here with Gooseberry Patch via my blog!!!!!!! Go HERE if you would like to sign up.
This morning I made another recipe from the

Gooseberry Patch Cookbook (buy here if you would like)
called,

The CHRISTmas Table

I looked through the cookbook for a recipe and saw this one I thought would work for the breakfast I am having for some sweet little girls and their Grandma and Aunt.....next week.

It is easy and very good!

Strawberry & Raspberry Strata

4 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. low-fat ricotta cheese
3 T sugar
1 c. milk
1/4 c. orange juice
1/2 c. honey
4 slices bread, torn into
    1-inch pieces
1/2 c. frozen raspberries, thawed and drained(I used fresh)
1/2 c. frozen strawberries, thawed and drained (I used fresh)

In a large bowl, combine eggs, ricotta cheese and sugar. Stir in milk, orange juice, honey and bread. Stir to combine. Gently fold in berries. Transfer to a lightly greased 2- quart casserole dish. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 2 hours to overnight. Remove plastic wrap; bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 40 minutes, or until golden on top and cooked through. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Spoon into dishes to serve. Serves 4.

If I would have had some cream on hand, I would have whipped up some fresh whipping cream for the top.

All the way through a Gooseberry Patch Cookbook at the bottom are these wonderful ideas that you can use in your everyday cooking or crafting. The illustrations are beautiful!

Isn't this the neatest idea? I think this would be perfect, if you took individual salads, put them in large mouth pint size mason jars and have them for a picnic. Just put the salad dressing in the bottom and salad on top, put in fridge before leaving to make sure it is nice and cold. Place in a cooler....when you are ready to go on your picnic.

Found this recipe, that will be a must. I have been growing sweet potato slips. It is time to get them in the garden. This recipe will be wonderful to make up when we dig the sweet potatoes up this fall!

As you are seeing this cookbook is not just for winter.....but all year long!

If you haven't signed up for the party yet.......it isn't to late........you may go here to get your name in!!!!!

Hope you are having a wonderful day.......it is nice here. A little windy, of course....it is Kansas!

Hugs and God bless YOU!!!!!!!

Linda

A Sweet Day........Started This Morning!!!!!!

Good morning sweet ladies...........

you know I will never tire of calling you my sweet ladies.......that is what you are and you will never know this side of heaven what a blessing you have become in my life! Like family.......very very precious! Thank you so for being such an important part of my life. Truly a God thing!  I read your comments to my sweet man and daughters (that still live with)........you make our days enjoyable! Just needed to tell you that......and know that I tell the Lord.......often!

Last night around 9, I looked at the weather map.......out west it was looking like we were going to get some rain. I asked ladies that follow on fb if they would please pray....... we needed some rain.....bad....I also asked for those who needed rain in their part of the country to let us know. It was so precious how ladies started coming as a community and praying!!!!! Again, what a precious thing! Thank you for being there!!!!

This morning I woke up at 5......are you kidding me? I am on vacation!!!!!!!! Before getting out of bed I lifted my precious children, my sweet man and myself before the throne room of God in the quietness of our room, while all were still asleep. I asked that we would walk strong with the Lord....that we would be sold out for Him and not grow weary in well doing. Quiet sweet communion with my Father.

Father God, You have no greater joy than to hear that Your children are walking in the truth. 3 John 4

One more sneak peek. Anyone want to guess what it might be?

I am getting close to being done with my new pattern. I have just had to stay on top of it and not do much else. It has been a good time to be able to listen to some Bible studies and videos of Louie Giglio on the internet. That has been such a blessing to my soul! I will listen to more today....it helps me stay focused on the important things.

I was listening to this song this morning.....amazing.......trust it will bless you.......there are believers in Jesus ........all over this world, that we will never meet on this side of heaven.......but one day we will all come together, those who have put their trust in Jesus' payment for sin. Trust that one day I will meet you there! What a day that will be......until then.....Love Him and make Him known in "your" surroundings, making disciples with the Holy Spirit's help........so many need His salvation.  In my opinion one of the most important surroundings, is that sweet Momma training her children in her Home to be warriors for Jesus. We need to be praying for Momma's.......does any one notice what is going on in our world......the Word says it is going to get worse. Those of you who have accepted Jesus as your Savior....you have a story to tell of what He has done in your life......please share it?

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,  baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching  them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you  always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 20:16-20

I listened to Louie Giglio this morning, the Passion 2012 Conference........HERE, it would be well worth your time to listen to it. If you have children or grandchildren have them listen also.......it is powerful! I am a little excited today!

I will be praying this now for my family and myself............

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,  for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.  Eph 6:19-20

May the Lord bless your day with His presence!!!!!!!

Linda

don't forget the one that is with you........He won't leave you!

I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in
secret places, so that you may know
that I am the LORD, the God of Israel,
who summons you by name.
Isaiah 45:3
