Freezing Applesauce This Afternoon!

Hello...sweet ladies,

I am on my break at the college so I thought I would stop in and say hello. I didn't have time last night to put up a post after fixing up the pen for Miss Emma. She took all of my time and that was just fine. She is the sweetest "Girlie"! Very gentle and she is fitting in  very nicely on the Prairie Flower Farm. I am thinking of putting in my Buff rooster that is getting quite big. He is the one that I bought at the Yoder Auction this last spring. He isn't the same type, but he would keep her company.

Tonight when I get back on the farm I will be putting up some applesauce to freeze. I will show you how I do it if you have never done so.....it is soooooo Simple!

Hugs and God bless your day!

My Miss Emma

Good morning sweet ladies,
it is early and the sun is not up yet.....smile! The roosters are doodling as I type. I don't have much time, but I wanted you to meet........

Miss Emma. She just came to the farm yesterday. She is so big, beautiful and very very sweet. In this picture she is sitting on my lap on a plastic bag. In the morning when we left for church.....I had no intentions of buying a "Girlie"......but I did! Right after church we went to the State Fair for just a bit......for one reason. To gather some feathers. I know......most people go to see the booths....eat.....and ride rides. Me......I go to see the chickens. They always have feathers that are on the floor, in the empty cages and along the side of the cages. I was gathering them with the help of my sweet man. He has a good eye! Then I was just about at the end  and I saw her and a lot of others like her. Buff Orpingtons are the sweetest of hens. I noticed that some of her type were for sale! I was on a mission and nobody could stop me! Ha! I called the number and the lady was standing right by me. Emma was for sale for sure and I could buy her. I did and could come back and pick her up at 3:00. I did not have a box or a cage. You should have seen the people stare at her when I was walking back to the car. She sat on my lap all the way home. She is one big "Girl". It is the type that she is. I was so excited I didn't bother to ask, but I do have access to the ladies number and I will be buying a rooster from her! I will be keeping her separate from the others. I do have another Buff rooster......not of her kind....but I may put them together in a separate pen. Eeeekkk! I will get better pic's....because I am sure you must want to see. Right? I just love her......as I said it wasn't my intension to buy yesterday......but I am so glad I did. She will be so fun to show when the Lord brings who ever He wants to bring to the farm. She is so unique and so beautiful!! Can't wait until she has babies.

Oh one more thing. Yesterday I was thinking......."Lord it would be so neat if Miss Red would hatch another baby chick when the family comes." As soon as I got home I went to check if she had any eggs that either hatched or were ready. I jumped....she DID have a little peep hole in an egg and a little one was chopping away on the inside. I will tell you the rest of the story later.......it is totally amazing and it is so precious, because my God the creator of good things...... cared about my measly little desire. It blessed the little 2 year old boy and his Momma........just like I was thought it would. They are from the city for the most part! Can't wait to tell you!!!!

I will post later also about the dinner last night..... after I get home from the bakery! It was so so delightful. The Potter's Shed was so beautiful all lit up by the time evening came.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and SONday! We did......God was with us last night.....in a very real and precious way!

Hugs to you and may God bless you bunches today,

Linda

New Life and A Day With The Farrier

Hello sweet ladies,

It is SONday......and I wanted to share this verse. It is a favorite of mine, and I thought it might bless you.

What does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
                                    Micah 6:8

If you look real closely you can see the two little tiny pieces of thread that the cocoon is attached to the parsley with. Sweet!

Some wanted to see what happened to the caterpillar. It is so amazing and beautiful. Only God can create such an amazing thing. New Life! One word AMAZING.......to think what is going on inside the cocoon. Think of it. So thankful I have asked Jesus to do the same thing in me.......He chose me......I chose Him......it is called a precious relationship.......forever! I pray today....if you are reading my post and you have never accepted Jesus and what He did on the cross that day that today is the day of YOUR Salvation. It is found in Him alone...... and found in no other.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed,  then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

 Jesus is
"the stone you builders rejected,
    which has become the cornerstone."
And there is Salvation in No One Else, for there is No Other Name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

I now wait expectantly for Jesus the Bridegroom to come and receive His Bride!

The farrier's name is Ray and my sweet man likes the way he works with our horses....... in fact a lot. My sweet man was not raised around horses.....just cows, but he has wanted to learn the last 5 years. He got into horses because of our girls. The first two horses we had on our farm were given to the girls 5 years ago. This picture is of Kiowa. She's a Paint. My sweet man is rubbing her gums....because she has never been good at balancing and is always jittery. It was amazing how it helped calmed her.

She finally started cooperating and did better with the farrier.

Now it was Lady's turn. She is our granddaughter's Palomino that she received as her CHRISTmas gift this last year. Lady is a pistol! Ray showed my Phil a lot of good pointers to help as we train. She is a big girl!

Lady does not lead  and the family she came from really did not feed her well. They had her on oats with lots of molasses. She was so so hyper and since she is on a new diet she has calmed down a lot for us. The other day she bit our Tressa......really bad. You could see her big mouth and teeth. Ray said to bite her back on the ear......now he is a big man......we are going to need a ladder to get up there!

Ray said to possession a rope around her behind, like in this picture.

He put pressure as he lead her......... it really did work.

Lady didn't fare as well as the others. Ray gave lots of pointers. He said to do them over and over again. It would help her.

I was working at getting the Potter's Shed ready for the sweet family that is coming......guess some college kids are coming also......that will be nice......can't wait for the evening.

Thanks for stopping by.....welcome to the new followers.

The Horses.......and A Walk

Good morning.........sweet ladies,

What a precious morning my sweet man and I had. The farrier is going to be here this morning to shoe all the horses. That means we have to hike up to the pasture and bring them back to the barn. They must have come down in the middle of the night to get some water......so it would be some time until they come back down .

The walk is so pretty........peaceful and quiet!

They saw us come over the hill.

They started walking towards us. They really are wonderful horses. Our daughter Taylor has put many hours into them.

With Juneau being led by my sweet man all the others follow.

Kiowa and Lady were staying a little behind...eating some more! Silly girls. They saw that everyone was almost at the barn and they took off. I love watching them run!

It was a good day......tomorrow I will write about the farrier. It was fun to watch. It reminded me of when I was homesteading with my family in Alaska. My Grandpa Reid was a farrier........I have lots of fond memories.

Today I will be working in the Potter's Shed.......company is coming......tomorrow evening......we will take pic's of them in the back of this truck.....making some more memories!

Hugs sweet ladies to your day........may you be blessed........a lot....by Jesus,

Linda

P.S. Welcome to all the new followers........you have been noticed

by me!!!!!!! Leave a comment some time so we can really get to know you!

Black Swallowtail Caterpillars Are Back!

Hello sweet ladies,

Thank you for all the comments. I haven't been able to post as I would like. Work has been stressful and then when I get home there has been much to do. We received a little over a 1/2 of an inch from the night before and yesterday. It came down very slowly, so it was soaked by the ground. Everything is looking so beautiful in the fields and this last week the weather has been cool. The soybeans will be blessed by all the moisture. Thanking the Lord for his provisions.

The sky was a flame last night. It was looking like Indian summer around here. I enjoy each part of every season that comes our way. God is so detailed in His creation. I notice!

I went to the garden last night and the tomatoes are getting huge. I will be able to do some canning. I have some young ladies who want to learn. I will enjoy teaching.

I made a simple bouquet for this tin hanger. It turned out sweet I thought. I put it o the wood door of the silo. The Potter's Shed is getting ready......for company.....one of my favorite things to do. Entertain. I think company will be coming......I will take pic's.

Thought you would enjoy this pic. These are all Black Swallowtail caterpillars. They will be going into cocoon stage real soon. I will take pic's of their developement. It is an amazing thing......another one of those God designs that is so detailed. They come this time of year and eat on dill and parsley. My friend had tons of them to share. I made up jars for each one of my grandkid's family. They will watch the process.......I will share about New Life in Christ.....again. Smile........I love to tell them the story!

Well today is Friday and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Hope your day is sweet and know that I am praying,

Linda

My Old Bike

Hello sweet ladies,

Do you have a memory of your bicycle? I would love to hear it! When I moved down here from Alaska, there was a bike in the barn. It even had a child carrier on the back of it. I put our son in the back and off we would went. We would go riding down to Peace Creek and then off on the other country roads. We picked lots of Kansas wild flowers to put in the front of our basket. It is older now, but I have so many precious memories. I wonder if you can still get new tires for it. It would be so fun to fix up. The frame is good. I will have to see.

Now it sits by the Potter's Shed. I am working on fixing it up for fall and then winter after that. It will be a conversation starter I hope. I am sure we will hear about other's bicycle stories when we ask! We have invited a family that knows one of our sons to the farm. They have a little 2 year old. He wants to see some baby chicks. We are up to 8 now........I think we have what he might like. Can't wait! We will be serving them in the Potter's Shed..........hmmmm what will I fix?

Have a sweet day and know that you have been prayed for this morning. I will be working out front taking meal tickets from the kids. I didn't tell you, but I was bringing a bucket of straw into the house. My sweet man had the hose going out from the back porch to the chickens.......yup......I tripped over it. Hit my knee cap. It hurts. Also got my shoulder. Not cool! I hurt.

Love and hugs,

me

Have A Sweet Day!

Hello sweet ladies,

Had a busy time at the bakery yesterday. For some reason Mondays are always so hectic. Made up some new recipes that I want to share with! I didn't have my camera......left it at home. Doesn't work very well.

Here is a little whisk broom I found at a farm store. Can't remember what one. It is brown and really full. Thought it would work well out in the Potter's Shed for dusting off benches and chairs. I just made a cluster of berries, leaves and bittersweet. Gathered them tight, laid in front of the broom and tied a little ribbon in a bow. It is hanging on the head of a rake on the old chicken wire. Thought it turned out sweet and super easy!

This is is our newest little blue Cochin. It was hatched on Sunday night late. I went down in the milk house later in the evening to check on everyone. It was going to get down in the low 50's and I needed to turned on the babies heat lamp. I thought I would just keep this one with Momma Red until morning. It is amazing how much  stronger they can get in just a few hours. Well my sweet man went down for me early the next morning and guess who was on the bottom floor of the milk house? You guessed it. It was not all toasty warm like it needed to be. I brought it into the house and put it in a big jar with a little light on it to warm it up. I had to leave it to go to work, that was hard for me to do. By the time I got home it had one little leg off to the side! That isn't a good sign. I held it a lot during the evening to keep the legs together. Even did what a post said, "Lay it on it's back and put a small rubber band on legs to keep them together". Ha! Here I am with a baby that is about 1 1/2" wide and high laying it on my lap. I did it. It kept getting out of the tiny rubberbands. UGH! So I took a small paint bottle and made it so it had a comfy place to stay. It worked! I guess I should have put two eggs in there now that I think of it. Anyway, it is doing wonderful!

Hope your day is sweet. We will be busy again today in the bakery.

Know that I am thinking of you! Prayed for you all this morning. Trust your day is special!

God Bless YOU!!!!!!

Hugs,

Linda
