Another 101 Farmhouse Favorite Review!

Hello sweet ladies.........

well my vacation is almost officially over!!!! I enjoyed the days Home and are a little sad about leaving our farm to go to the college.......but I have to keep my eyes on Him and know that He plans my days! I got a lot of things done that I wanted to. I have also enjoyed seeing who has signed up for the Gooseberry Patch and Prairie Flower Farm Party! If you are one who did so........thank you!

I went shopping at Target some time back and saw these adorable little greenhouse............for starting my basil seeds. I can't remember, but I think they had some other kind of herbs also. I am sure that if you went you could still find them in the dollar area. So so cute. I will transplant them when they get bigger.

Basil is one of our families favorite herbs to grow. It is not hard to start from seed either.

When I was going through the 101 Farmhouse Favorites Cookbook I saw the Fresh Herb Pesto Sauce recipe......tonight we made some up. Making Pesto is super easy.

Fresh Herb Pesto Sauce
2 c. fresh herb leaves, coarsely chopped (I used basil)
6 cloves garlic, chopped
1 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 c. olive oil
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. grated parmesan or Romano cheese

Mix herbs, garlic, nuts, 1/2 cup oil and salt in a blender. Process until smooth, adding a little more oil if needed to make blending easier. Transfer to a bowl and stir in grated cheese. Refrigerate in an airtight container, or spoon into ice cube trays and freeze for later use. Makes about 1- 1/2 cups.

I bought some French Banquettes Bread, cut into 1/2" rounds and laid them on to a cookie sheet.... brushed with olive oil. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes. Spoon a pesto on top of bread! Sprinkle with a small amount of parmesan on top of pesto.

You will find this recipe in the Classic Country Canning section of the 101 Farmhouse Favorites Cookbook.........along with these other recipes.

Garlic Dill Pickles
Old-Time Corncob Jelly
Our Favorite Salsa
Tipton Family Spaghetti Sauce
Aunt Ruth's Dilly Beans
and
Strawberry-Thyme Jam.......
just to name a few more.

I am definitely trying this Strawberry-Thyme Jam recipe this summer.....bought some thyme seeds so I can try it out this summer!

Farm News!!!!!

Willow is still holding her own!!!!!!! She has not had her baby. I was so hopping she would have had it while I was home. Maybe she will have it while I am at work! I will let you know when I get home!

Look at what I found in my old galvanized can that I store my straw for my chickies and ducks. The big Girls left me a gift......pure sweetness! Love all my girls colored eggs!

Please prayer for my daughters and myself as we go back into the work force. We would much rather stay home......but we would much rather do what theLord has called us to do and that is to love college kids in His Name! We are so very grateful for our time here on the farm this last week and our little mini vacation to KC and Lawrence!!!!!! It was a very blessed time as family! God is good!

Hugs to all you precious ladies.......you are sweeties,

Linda

Hello sweet ladies,

Today is not going as planned. Our family was going to host the baseball team and their coaches. That was not to be until tomorrow night.......wrong......a church can only feed them on that night..... so they wondered if we could host tonight.......hmmmm PANIC!!!!! I have so much to do to get the Refuge Cabin ready......wood piled up for a bonfire and food fixed for an army! Smiling! I will not start my Gooseberry Patch and me party until tomorrow. Just had to stop in to say hello!

Hugs to your day!

Linda
P.S. A sweet friend on fb said, because of my panic........it is so adorable.

Keep a Mary heart running in Martha mode and all will be well. Is that the cutest ever?

Getting exercise going back and forth to her pen.

"Chicky Timer"....... ever!!!!!!

They told me that it is time for a One Day Party here at

They want to give away "their" timer to someone and it could

Puddles and Rain

Hello sweet ladies,

this is Puddle...........he (could be a she also) is at least trying to stand at different times. That is a good sign. At this point he was not peeping very much........

but that has changed. Yesterday afternoon and this morning he is standing better. Puddles is peeping and walk around. It is so nice to watch.....thank you so much for praying for him......God answered big time. I was really worried about him. I have never had an experience quite like his hatching before. So glad he is okay!

Went out this morning  and walked around the farm. Love the weather. It was misty this morning, but had rained all night long so mud puddles were everywhere. Perfect weather though. I like warm also, but with us needing rain so bad.... it was a huge blessing. Love the mist on my face.

I walked over to where the ducks were playing in the mud puddles.......they are so so pretty! One day Puddles will be out there with!

Well hope you are enjoying yourself today!!!! Welcome to all the new followers. I have so noticed you! Would love to meet you so leave a comment if you would like!

Life Has Been Happening Here!!!!

Hello sweet ladies,

I have missed getting to blog. It has been so busy at work in the caf and by the time I get home..... I have been busy filling orders. Yahoo! Still selling my Winter Thyme Card Collection. If anyone would like to buy them. Click here

When it gets this busy in my life I try to at least put something up on my fb (along my side bar on the right) click there if you would like and you can at least see a little of what is going on at Prairie Flower Farm.

Before going to bed last night Puddles the duck had a little peep hole that he was breathing out of!!!!!

This morning I jumped out of bed to see if Puddles had hatched out of it's egg. Still just a little hole.....a little bit bigger than the night before. All day Puddles kept working on getting out. I noticed that there was kind of some slime on his head and around his beak.  I did help a little by trying to remove that. By evening he was doing better .........

and pushed out of the egg. Puddles is one tired little ducky! Please keep praying for him.......he is so so precious. He has not peeped yet, opens his beak, but that is all. That concerns me a bit. I will keep you posted as to how he is doing.

While I was waiting for Puddles to hatch......I was filling an order for one of my quilt kits. When I walked into my craft room I saw this little nest....draped across it was this gingham checked ribbon......I could just see it in my mind...the ribbon tied into a bow.....and of course a little fluff sitting in the nest. Soooooo I glued the bow to the front. I picked this chicky...... because it is just so cute and gently set it in the nest. I held it carefully with my hand cupped over it. It just stayed there all comfortable..even went to sleep. I just loveeeeeee this picture. Sweetness in the real!

Well I have one more day at work......and then I will be home for over a week. Ask me if I am excited?? YUP! I need home.....really really bad. I plan on having some fun while here. A Gooseberry Patch Party will be one of the things! A new pattern.......and hopefully some pic for a Spring Thyme Collection!

Well, hope you enjoyed seeing Puddles. I will keep the pic's coming. Please do pray for him.

Hugs from the farm,

Linda

Good morning.....just want you to know that Puddles is doing better this morning. Sitting on his little legs and peeping a bit. So so thankful! hope to have a pic later today!
