I have a surprise for you! Has anyone been noticing the chill in the air when the sun starts going down? Are your leaves turning and starting to fall off the trees yet? We are noticing a little bit of change.......it is still warm (80's) during the day....but love waking up to a cool breeze coming through our bedroom windows each morning.

As you know I work in the pizza area at the college.......so I picked this recipe out........
Pesto Pizza Squares
Pesto Pizza Squares
11 oz tube refrigerated pizza crust.....(I used homemade pizza dough)
1/2 c. pesto sauce
2 T. low-fat or regular mayonnaise
8 oz. pkg. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 c. cherry tomatoes, halved or to taste
Roll out crust on a greased baking sheet or pizza stone; set aside. In a bowl, mix pesto, mayonnaise and cheese; spread on crust. Arrange tomatoes evenly on top. Bake at 400 degrees for 13 to 17 minutes, until crust is golden. Cut into squares, making sure each square gets a few tomato halves. Makes 8 to 12 servings.
EASY!!!!!!!
The key........ the kids loved it! If you can get college kids to eat it......you have a winner right?
As you know we are having a wedding on our farm......we have been so busy getting ready for it. We have been writing down all the ideas that we want at the wedding and the reception. I will be fixing up a little area at the reception for all the little people who will be coming. A table that will be just their size. I have been looking for recipes to serve the children and when I got
Hometown Harvest......
I looked and found a snack food I think they will like.
Here is the recipe.......I haven't made it up, but will be soon. I will show you a pic when I do.
Reed's Savory Snack Mix
12-oz. pkg. bit-size crispy corn and rice cereal squares
1c. mini pretzel twists
3/4 c. fish-shaped crackers
1/2 c. cashews
1/2 c. canola oil
1-pkg. buttermilk ranch salad dressing mix
1/4 t. lemon pepper
1/2 t. dill weed
1/2 t. garlic powder
In a large roasting pan, combine cereal, pretzels, crackers and cashews; toss to mix and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a small bow; mix well and drizzle over cereal mixture. Stir well to coat. Bake, uncovered at 250 degrees for 12 minutes. Stir well; bake for an additional 12 minutes. Cool completely; store in an airtight container. Makes about 14 cups.

Hello! The fall decoration I have that is my Halloween tradition is a clay face jug. It has a removable "hat" so I can insert a candle. It's not scary looking but its really cute. If I do nothing else, I put out the face jug!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and am enjoying reading it very much!
What I love especially in fall, is the long walking I make in the crispy leaves.

Oh, the fall is my very, very favorite season! I love the crisp days that are still pleasantly warm and sunny, the bright blue skies and the incredible colored leaves we get here in New England. I just have to bake with apples, pumpkins, and squash, and love to decorate our home for fall. I love that I can decorate in September and leave the fall decorations up right through Thanksgiving, which is without question my favorite fall holiday.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for this cookbook ... I love it. I already have a copy since I had a recipe published in it (p.88, Linda, if you're interested) and this is fast becoming one of my favorite Gooseberry Patch cookbooks. I've tried several of the breakfast recipes and my very favorite so far is the Spinach & Egg Casserole. So easy, but very, very good. I've made it four times and it's on the menu again for this week.
Even though I own the book, still enter me in the giveaway. I will share it with one of my daughters if I happen to win.
Happy fall, Linda, and thanks for hosting this party even though you are so very busy!
I just have to make pumpkin bread this time of year...the smell of it is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFall is a great time of the year and mums are always so beautiful this time of year. I usually decorate with mum plants outside and silk mums inside. I really enjoy the red and yellow colored mums this time of year. Apples also come to mind and reminded me of my aunt who passed on a great apple cake recipe to me. I usually try to bake at least one every fall.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about fall is when the neighbors are harvesting their corn for ensilage and the smell of the fresh earth during beet harvest. And there's no work involved for me!♥♫
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall thing to do is to take our 6 grandkids to the pumpkin patch. We all have so much fun on the slides, zip line & bouncey blob. Even though I don't like that it's getting cooler, I am anxious to make a big batch of soup.
