Just About Done With The First Fabric Line!

Just dropped in to say hi! Hope all is well!!!!! I was able to go to Stutzman's for just a little bit on Sat. I wanted to stay all day, but I had to get back home and work on the fabric. I was not able to stay to see what Larry had for his Trash 2 Treasures. Made me sad, but the greenhouse was so beautiful. My Alicia took pictures for me. I have been trying to load them for you to see and it is taking forever and won't work. I could only get one pic up, I will show you the other pictures at a later date when we get better internet. We had the internet man by yesterday and he said Monday is the day for our new internet provider!!! Yeah for me! We have been without internet again. We were without all day Saturday and Sunday. Out again on Monday all morning and a little this morning. I am really trying to stay happy.

I am almost done with the first fabric collection, it will go out today. It is really turning out fun. Tressa and I are getting a lot done. It is kind of funny, because when you design fabric it has to be perfect in measurement, so when it is printed off, it will be what they call "in repeat." I messed up with one of the large patches, but as we looked at it Tress had another idea. It was perfect. I was so thankful, because when you work hours and hours to not make any mistakes and you do and then the Lord uses it to be something even better, how nice! When I start designing I always ask for the Lord to help me. He is the "Master Designer" and has thought of everything already. I am thankful that I have one almost done and will finish the 2nd one this week. I worked on two at the same time. I am pleased with what we have to show at the International Quilt Market.

I also talked to the president of the fabric company and I get to design a Baby Collection!!!!!!!! I am so excited. Can't wait. Already have some fun ideas. Here is when you come in. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see in the collection please leave me a comment. I will need a name if you have any ideas. Just let your imagination go!!!

Also, today is my 1 year Blogaversary. I wanted to have a big Party! I still am though! Unexpectedly my brother showed up to pick up his things that we have been storing for him and the fabric has taken up my days. I am going to do something though. I am sorry it won't be today............ really sorry!!!!!!! I promise it is going to be a really fun Party though!! I am hoping by next week. It is my birthday the first part of April, soooooo I will be ready to celebrate!

My little plants are growing and the tomatoes almost have their third leaves. I have broccoli, lettuce, cabbage and flowers in the Potters Shed. I love to put flowers in throughout my veggies. That way it always looks so colorful and pretty. I also started some new seeds that are now germinating. Camomile, zinnias and for-get-me-knots. They are so cute! I noticed that the daffodils are almost ready to flower and my coneflowers are starting to come up. It is definitely looking like spring around here!

Miss you all!!!!!! I feel that without the internet, I have not been able to check in on everyones blogs and I feel out of touch!

Well, I am off to finish the fabric and dream about my "Bogaversary Party."

Quilting And A Pin Keep For A Swap!

I am with a quilt group called A Dozen Quilters. I have never done anything like this before, but a friend Melissa from Lilac Lane invited me to be a part of this blog. Each month one of the ladies in A Dozen Quilters decides what kind of block and color she wants. I have really enjoyed it. Well, this block is for February. Iva who is part of the group put her wishes up on a post. I had never done a Wonky Log Cabin and thought it would be kind of fun to do it. It wasn't only fun it was a blast!!!!! I loved doing it. I think it turned out so fun. You need to go to A Dozen Quilters to her post and look up the sites. If you would like to do this kind of block you can find the different blocks available. I was so pleased and it "is" real easy!!!! Promise. Just wanted to show it to you. Just a little something that is going on in my life.

I signed up at Mary Jane Farm to do a Pink Keep Swap. It was so fun. I could decide what I wanted the pin keep to look like. I had been to a blog called Cottage In The Curve and saw this Martha Stewart Strawberry Pincushion. I loved the blog and the pincushion. I thought it would be fun to make the strawberry and put it in this adorable egg cup I found on sale for 35 cents. I enlarged the strawberry pattern and leaf. The lady I just swapped with just received it, so I wanted to show you what it looked like. If you ever want to sign up with the Mary Jane Farmhouse (go along the side of my blog and click on her blog button), you can get in on some swaps also. I don't get to do very many, but it has been fun to do when I have. I love how the pic turned out. It gives me a warm heart.

P.S. Please continue to keep my Dad in your prayers. I have been able to see him every day, but all that he can do is nod his head up and down. I am so very grateful for that. I can at least tell him he is loved. Mr. Phil is reading him the Word. It is precious to see. God is doing what He does best and I just have to rest. I was reminded this morning of the verse in Isaiah 49:16, "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hand......" Isn't that a comfort? To think, if you engrave something the dictionary said, "to be permanently fixed in". That does my heart good. Poppa is permanently fixed in to our Father's Hand. I can think on that and trust what my Heavenly Father is doing.

I got sick today and could not go see him. That was very hard, but we could call. All our older kids went to visit. That helped me know he was being encouraged. He is coming to the nursing home on Monday. Please pray for that transition. Thank you so much. I love you all bunches!

Simple Little Mittens For A CHRISTmas Gift

Well, I bought these little white mittens for myself. When I got home I set the mittens on the table, right beside the mittens were my little punch needle snowmen heads. Remember posts August 24 and August 28? Well, my brain just started to spin and I had the most wonderful idea for a Christmas gift for my little granddaughters. I couldn’t wait to go to Hobby Lobby’s store, to buy the supplies I needed for the idea. I found the little beads and DMC floss.

Now doesn't she have the sweetest little face?

Supplies Needed:

A pair of mittens

one punch needle snowman head

or you can make a wool head

(instructions below)

Rust #918 DMC floss

Black floss for eyes

1O little blue beads size 4mm

Red checked ribbon for two bows

Blue #159 DMC floss

If you need to learn to do punch needle, I have a web site for you to go to. How to, scroll down and the instructions are there for you to follow. It really is so easy. If you need more help, please feel free to email me. I will help you. I just love doing this! My favorite punch needle is a Cameo needle, it is blue and at the top of the page when you open up the site. This needle is so easy to work with and the little loops on the top are always uniform. You also need an embroidery hoop with locking lip.

Now to make the mitten!!!!

1. Punch needle one snowman head. Draw a 1 1/2 circle (I use one of the ends of my spools of thread) onto a large piece of muslin, big enough for your hoop. I draw lots of little heads with at least a 1/2 space around each head. Look at photo and draw a nose on each face to the snowman face onto your muslin. Punch needle the nose (#918 DMC floss) first and then the rest of the snowman head is white. I sew the eyes and mouth with double thread (black) and use french knot stitch. Again look at the photo.

Wool or flannel Head: If you can't do a punch needle head, then draw a 1 1/2" circle onto fusible webbing. Iron fusible webbing to wool. Cut out wool circle. Draw a small oblong triangle to fusible webbing and iron to rust fabric for the nose. Cut out nose and iron onto front of wool. Use a pressing cloth! Sew french knot eyes and mouth.

2. Snow Flakes: Thread needle with two strands of floss. I didn't follow any pattern. I just started with one X for the first part of the snowflake and then another straight line through the X, really easy. Look at the close up photo. I can't ever make one that looks the same. smile

3. Space the little beads on the cuff. Sew 5 per mitten.

4. Make two little bows and glue or sew each to a mitten.

You are finished! Now isn't that the easiest? Please let me know if you make this little gift and how you used it. I love stories!!!!!!

Just Peeking In!

Hello, I am Honey Bunny checking in with all Prairie Flower's bloggers. I just want you to all know that I am going to be a "new pattern" for little ones. My mom, Miss Prairie Flower is so excited and just keeps squealing every time she puts another "little touch" on me. National Good Neighbor Day!

Here is my gift for my neighbor. I think it turned out so cute!!!!!! I will be using this idea in the Potter's Shed when we have company. Wouldn't this be so pretty with about three of them going down the center of the table? My flowers are so bright and beautiful now. They always look so pretty in the fall. We have been having some very nice rains and cool nights. I love it!!!!

Pick out your pumpkin from your pumpkin patch or from a Farmer's Market.

Using a sharp knife cut out a top on the pumpkin.

Clean out your pumpkin. Use a jar that will fit inside the pumpkin. Fill jar with water. Either pick your flowers from your own flower garden or get some from the florist. I also tied a ribbon around the jar. I think it topped the bouquet off. I love the way the pumpkin turned out. I am sure my neighbor is going to like it. It will be fun to surprise her today!!

Oh by the way, I tried to get this done for Monday. I have to have the post in before 1:00 in order for it to go up for that day. I went to go use the camera and you guessed it, it was out of battery. Grrrrr! I just kept moving and didn't let it get me down!

THANK YOU FATHER FOR FALL THYME!!

I have so enjoyed the cooler weather how about you? Last night we had a wonderful rain to clean all the pollen from the air! YES!

I went to my cupboard and brought out all my white dishes. I love that I have white. That way I can change my decorations easily.

Talking about decorating. I have been painting the last two day’s and making tags for my pumpkins. The pumpkin patch was full this year. My grandchildren loved peeking under all the big leaves to see what they could find. There were wonderful colors. We planted a seed package of gourds. That has truly been fun to see all the different shapes. I have all my paints out and I am painting the pumpkins and getting ready for Farmer’s Market tomorrow. After I get them all tagged I will put up a picture. Here is what I have done this far. It is just toooo fun around here at Prairie Flower Farm.

Wish I could have you over. I would give you a pumpkin. Ya know, if you comment I will have a little giveaway. A polkadot pumpkin! I will only do this through the weekend. I’ll do a drawing on Monday morning! It will have to be just a little white pumpkin! Thank you for coming by!

She said “EYE PATCHES FOR SANTA’S ELVES”. Now I am not a Santa person, I’m a Jesus person at Christmas, but this had to be the most unique answer. All of you were just fantastic though! I Don’T think I have had so much fun in sitting down to my computer and reading all the adorable ideas! It had my head spinning and was just to much fun for one lady, a precious husband and two cutie daughters to read. Every time another idea came in, the farm was a buzzing.......... We loved it. Right next to me

on my sewing table I have my two baby chicks that are in a birdcage. Yup, you heard me a birdcage. The momma guninnea is in the brooder house with her babies, so the baby chicks are with me. It has been really funny to watch them when a little fly gets in their cage. You talk about loud. They were my little helpers as I stitched away!

I so badly wanted to spend hours sewing, but not enough hours in my day. I will be adding to my store in the weeks to come. I love winter thyme and fall thyme!!!!!!!!! Since we are doing a Christmas show I have to be in two seasons AT ONE TIME!

Getting Organized!

Hello ladies,

This morning is nice and cool for a change. It has been so muggy and hot around our farm. I don't mind hot, but not the mug!

I have been a part of a forum from Aunt Ruthie's Sugar Pie Farmhouse. When you go there you will see Girl Talk forums. If you are interested sign up. It is so delightful and the ladies are just wonderful. I have meet some real precious ladies! Aunt Ruthie is just a sweetie and her blog is too fun. I love seeing what she has going on there. Any way she put up a topic about cleaning on Focus on the Family. The program is with Sandra Felton, author of The Messies Manual. Yup, that is me when I am crafting and designing! Fabric is flying everywhere plus with a small house that is hard. With school starting soon I think this program will help me. So for my first attempt I am starting to organize. When I was in Cottonwood Falls for our anniversary, I went to the co-op called Prairie Past Time and found a whole bunch of mason jars. It was a true find! They were sooooo cheap. Yea, for me! I had this great idea to put them on one of my shelves in my sewing room and put all kinds of things in each jar. Well yesterday was the day to go to the barn and clean up a shelf and move it in. It was so nice to have some organizing going on! I am only able to do a little each day, but thanks to Aunt Ruthie and Sandra, I am doing at least a little something each day.

When you look at this little jar just think Spring Thyme, Summer Thyme, Fall Thyme and Winter Thyme in a Jar! I am trying to hurry to get them ready!

Also, I bought these little mason jars for a new kit series. I can't wait to get them ready for our Peace Creek Collections Store. They will be up and ready real soon. I love designing, wish I had more hours in my day. Today is baking day for Farmer's Market. It comes to soon........... smile.

Can't wait for you to see what my little snowman head is. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every guess. I kind of have a little surprise to show you beside what it really is. Thank you for leaving the comments. I do appreciate everyone!!!!!!!

Can you guess what one little head will be?

I am going to be busy in my sewing room making up some ideas for the store. I love punch needle and I have been very busy making these little snowmen heads, as we drive from place to place. I can't wait to get them ready. I still am working on orders, so they are just sitting looking at me waiting for me to sew them up! I love their sweet little faces. Each one is their own snowman! Neatest Rug!

Hope your summer is going well. I have pumpkins in the pumpkin patch that I have been picking and lots more to come!

I did not do this rug, but I am going to. Isn't this the cutest thing? It will be added to my winter to do list. It is going to be a fun winter I can tell. I thought you would like. I think it would be so squishy for your feet. I bet you can't tell what color mine will be. Heehee.

I asked Sheri at Prime Rose Hill if I could post this rug. The pattern is on her blog. Go see and tell her I sent you. She is a sweetie! She said yes and so I did. Tell me what you think and what kind of rug is by your bed. Hope you like and if you do tell her so. She has a really darling blog. It is a must to see. She also has recipes for you to try out. It must be a green day! Here is a favorite at our house and sooooooo simple. Cut your cucumbers really nice and thin. Make up some real Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing and pour on to the cucumbers . This is so lite and wonderful to add to your summer meal. Enjoy!

What I get to do!

I totally need a break from painting so here goes. Some of you were wondering what I do. I get to design fabric for a company called Fabrics by Spectrix. I have been licensing my artwork to them for the last 15 years. My youngest daughter was just brand new. I knew nothing about designing fabric and so this was a new thing when our distributor of our patterns Peace Creek Collections called to see if I would be interested. My husband and I prayed about it and made the decision to go ahead and try it. We had to learn how to do repeats and everything that goes with getting everything ready for sale and then for screens that they use at the fabric mill. Now looking back it makes me kind of laugh, because we had a new baby girl, we had just been put in the Country Women Magazine. We were receiving up to 350 pieces of mail a day. I remember nursing and opening mail at the same time. We also had a bubbly 3 year old that loved everything that momma did and was always such a big helper. Plus I was 42 years old. I loved it though. I have always been this energizer bunny type person so what that you add a little more stress to your life.

We ended up designing a collection called Plant a Little Love. I had two color ways.

One in blue and the other in barn red. We also were able to go to the mill out in New Bedford Mass. We loved it.

This is the large patch. Wow this was along time ago, but it brings such wonderful memories back to my mind. The people that are at Fabrix by Spectrix have been a blessing to our family.

We took the two girls, their brother and a nanny with us. We learned a lot. We watched 120 thousand yards running off the press. By the end of the day I felt like I had had that many babies. It was totally beyond incredible. I have lost count on how many fabric lines we have done, but it has never gotten old. It is like a dream come true for a stay at home momma to get to do something so fun and so special. I am working now on two new collections for 2010. One will be called A Country Harvest and the other Winter Thyme. They are coming along and I will be sending them off on Monday to be viewed by Wal Mart. Please pray for us. You never know if you will get excepted. If you all have any other questions I would be happy to answer them.

While we were out east we drove all over. My husband graduated from Yale and so he took us there to see the college. To think that Christian men founded Yale. We wonder what it is like now.

WE ARE IN A MAGAZINE!

Peace Creek Collections Article In Girlhood Home Companion

The garden is almost planted!!!!!!!!!!! I found a little time to look at the two articles our family wrote for The Girlhood Home Companion. Jill and her family have done a wonderful job putting the magazine together. The color and arrangement was just breath taking. We were honored to be able to do this! Our fabric was featured that came out this last spring. You will be able to find Farmer's Market at JoAnn's Fabric or Hancock Fabrics near you. When I get some time I will be making curtains for my chicken house with the Farmer's Market fabric.. Can't wait for things to slow down. Like when will that ever be the case : )! We will also have a Harvest Thyme Collection, that will be out for Fall 2009. I will write later. I just love Remembrance Press and all they have available for every age lady.

I have not talked much on my blog, that I design fabric for a company called Fabrics by Spectrix. Designing fabric was never in my thoughts. One day a friend from a distributor called and asked if I would like to do fabric. I was 42, had just had brand new baby girl, just been put in Country Women and "ton's" of mail in the mailbox. We prayed about it and decided to go ahead. It was very hard at first because I didn't know how to paint ( I painted by cutting out stencils) or do fabric. I told the Lord I really needed to learn to paint and in a day I was painting. The fabric company worked along with us and it ended up being very interesting. We have gone to the mill two different times over the years. To watch your designs be put on fabric right before your eyes was just toooooo fun! Our name will be along the selvage edge with Peace Creek Collections by Linda Stubbs. Over the years our daughter Tressa has also done 3 designs.

We also have our own pattern company called Peace Creek Collections. Over the years with the economy, caring for my husbands dad, farming and the Estate, our business has slowed down . We are featured in Keepsake Quilting with our quiet books, so that has kept me busy. I just didn't have the time to design on a large scale. Now that we won't be farming in a big way and we have a blog I will be designing more. I get really excited about where the Lord wants to take us. We have some of our patterns up along the side in e-patterns and will soon be adding to them.

When we did the International Quilt Markets, meeting people was one of my most favorite experiences. The lives and stories of the people I met were wonderful. I never thought I would be a pattern designer or a fabric designer, but I enjoy both. It has given me the means to stay home with my children. I have 5 on earth and 2 in heaven. I also have 9 grandchildren that make my like fun! Please if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
