BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Sweet Ladies,

Thank you so for the prayers........did better today, but still have the foggy head. Everyone that has allergies around here are really feeling it, since we have had high winds and budding trees.

You must see what I found tonight!!!!!!!!!!

Miss Milly has a total of 5 babies and one is just like her. I am so excited. She is a Mottled Cochin Banam baby. A beauty I must say, but I am partial.....I'm the Mom of the Mom.

Miss Milly got out of the nest to move her legs and wings. She went flying all over........wish I could have gotten it on camera. She had been sitting for 21 days and that was enough. Here you can see 5 of her babies.

Missy Thatcher had only one baby out and her other little black chick stayed hidden under her feathers. Sweetness!

Now that Miss Milly has finished sitting I had to move her into her own cage. but I first had to fix it up for her.

You have to be careful with the cage wires so
they are not to big for the babies to go through. I bought some new galvanized wire the other day to make the cages a little more safe.

As I was working on the cages all the Cochins came up to see what I was doing. They are so friendly.

Daddy White Cochin wanted to almost climb on my lap.
Silly chicken.

I cut the wire about 4". This will keep the babies in.

Babies watchin their Momma as she shows them how to eat.

Sweetness~

Missy Thatcher has two babies, both are black. Their Daddy was probably the one that was killed by the dogs. The one is tucked under her tummy. This one is always out. She still has 5 eggs that she is sitting on. We will see what happens tomorrow.

My goal this summer is to sell some babies at the Yoder Poultry Auction. I saw this basket last year. Julia gave me permission to put this picture up. I am linking back to her blog. I will be making these little cages to take to the auction..........think they are so adorable! I will have a lid for the top and a handle! Isn't it so cute? I can just imagine some baby chicks on the inside.....who wouldn't want to buy that?

Still waiting to hear from my farm friend on when Willow has her baby or babies. We are having storms tonight........they always seem to have their babies during those times.

Two more days of work and then VACATION!

I can't wait........trust all are doing well. Know that I prayed for you all,

Linda

Good evening!

Hello sweet ladies,

I am laying on the couch with lap top on lap.......feeling horrible! Allergies have hit Prairie Flower Farm.......even a kitty has the sneezes. I don't have an appetite and just really couldn't do much more then stay on the couch all evening.

When we drove up into the driveway today, I made a beeline to the little chicks to see how many we had. Missy Thatcher hatched one more, so that is two for her. Miss Milly still has the one, but I am sure they will have more tomorrow. I pinned this wonderful pin the other day of sexing your baby chicks. I was going to do it tonight, but thought I would wait until I felt better and do it tomorrow night.

I love this blog.......Mountain Home Quilts....she showed how to feather sex day old baby chicks. You must go over and check out her blog.....you won't be disappointed!

I have permission to use these pictures from Mountain Home Quilts.
"All feathers are generally the same length for a
cockerel."

"This is a pullet. The primaries are much longer than the coverts and you can see the two sets clearly." (Thank you Heather from Mountain Home Quilts!)
Isn't this the neatest? Hope it works for me.

I will try it tomorrow and let you know how it works. It would be wonderful if it really works. I will also try to get some pictures.

Good night.....hope you all have a wonderful day!

LITTLE ONES!!!!!!!

Good evening sweet ladies,

Oh my, I got home and knew that one or both of the Girlies (hens) could have some babies. When I walked in sure enough.......Missy Thatcher had a baby that was walking around her, adorableness!!!   I wish I could have had every single one of you and the children in your life in that little milk house! I love little life.....well, really all of life. It is a miracle that is always right in front of us so many times. God is so so good to let us see His creation!

I couldn't get Missy Thatcher's baby......except when I videoed it. That worked for me! Watch how brutal this little one is with it's Momma's eyes. Ouch!

I will be fixing up cages for each momma and her babies, after all their eggs are hatched. It will help keep the mommas from getting confused with their babies.

I also started my tomato seeds tonight. My farm friend Gail taught me how to do this years ago. Love it. Looks adorable!

Pick out a tea cup from your cupboard.

Fill the cup with potting soil.

Pick out what tomato seeds you want to plant.

Sprinkle tomato seeds on top.

Cover seeds with 1/4" potting soil.

Slip tea cup into plastic bag and ziplock bag.

I put my seeds up on the top of my refridgerator. It is warm there and I has lights. Make sure that the soil has moisture.

If you want, you can go here and read when I first put up how to do my tomato seeds.

When the little tomato plants get their second leaves they are ready to transplant them to bigger containers. I use the small Dixie cups. I poke a hole in the bottom, lay the cups on a cookie sheet and put them under shop lights. I don't do very well with them by windows. They get to long on me.

Thank you so much for those of you who wrote prayers for me today. I still have this itchy cough, but I do feel a lot better. We are suppose to get some snow on Thursday and Friday. Can't believe this weather!

Blessings to all you precious ladies, thank you for leaving comments. They bless my day!!!!!!!

Four more days until I am home for a week! Can't wait.

Linda

It Is MONDAY..........hello!!!!

Hello Sweet Ladies,

I am on break at work, but wanted to let you know that I have sent out all the seed swap partners emails! Now if you haven't received one, please please get with me. Sometimes I don't catch it if emails go to my junk mail. I try to look, but sometimes it slips by. PLEASE email me at prairie flower farm @ g mail . com Thank you. Write "seed swap" on the subject line. I will get back atcha~

Still not feeling the best. Allergies.......everything around here is budding. I don't usually have this much problem, but with it going back and forth it is a problem. I would ask for prayer please. Hoping this week will go fast and then I will be home for 9 days............eecckkkkkkk!

I just talked to my farm girlfriend Cheryl about Willow. She said that she will be having her baby anytime this week. I thought it wasn't until next week. That's okay with me! We have possibilities of snow this Wed or Thursday, so Willow will probably birth her baby or I am hoping for two babies then.

Missy Thatcher and Miss Milly are still sitting and today is the their due dates to be new Mommies! This will be their first time!!!!!!!! So excited to go home and peek under their tummies. Missy Thatcher doesn't peck me, but Miss Milly does.

Well this isn't a fancy post........no pictures........when I get home I will get my camera out.

Tonight I will be starting my tomato plants. I will show you how my friend Gail taught me years ago. It is easy and very sweet looking.

Hugs and blessings to your day!!!!!!!

Hope You Are Enjoying Your SONday!

Good morning sweet ladies,

This morning I am a little under the weather. Itchy throat, runny nose......a little cough......think it is all the little budding trees around telling us All, that it will soon be spring. I love the new buds on all the trees......but they don't like me!

Look at my little lilac babies! They are perfect......they just need to grow........it makes me think of when we have a baby in our womb and it is little body is being formed.......LOVE IT!
I had to show you my itty bitty baby lilacs. Remember I cut off some branches and brought them into the house to force them to grow early? They didn't dissapoint me. Preciousness!!!!!!
God is sooooo totally amazing........I love how He designs so complete.........for my enjoyment and yours.  Precious God He is!

Yesterday was such a sweet day with our V! I showed you what the little shed looked like when we started to clean in my post yesterday. When we moved from our old farm to here, I had "stuff"  that we brought like doors, old boards and fence pieces. I knew that some day they would come in handy. Yesterday was the "DAY".

I took Vitaliy out to see the little garden in the Potter's Shed. He loved the little baby spinach. I told him I was starting a strawberry patch.........there was one little leaf that had popped out of the straw. I was so excited to see I had one that was doing something. When you buy strawberry plants to plant they don't look like much!

Off to Willow's new home we went.......it needed lots of work. I found this swallow tailnest........it will stay. Also a hornets nest above the A.......it will go! Not good for our new baby lamb, "Twig" that will be living in the little shed.

A real pack rat (small rodent) had made a nest of lots of twigs. (That is for you Susan). It had made the nest on top of a wire fence piece.......perfect. V just pulled the fence out with the all the debris on the top of it........we will have a bon fire some day. Yesterday was way to windy.

We finally got everything moved out of the little shed.........as you can see there is a hole in the roof that needed to be repaired. Over the years our farm has a lot of wind and ice damage done to it.

Up on the roof V went.........
he was so excited! He is the hardest little worker and most happy when he can have a hammer, nails, wood or axe in hand.

Roof fixed!!!!

I remembered an old wood box that I had been saving for a very long time. I was going to use when we would get a wood stove, to use for firewood. V and I were off to go and get it from the hay shed. When we were carrying it I said, "Two are better then one.......and he said "I know"! We talked about the verse as we worked.... as we walked.........he had already heard the verse at his school. Precious!!!!!
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow, but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.  Ecc. 4:9-10.

I call it my "God Chatter", when I talk with my grandkids and children about the truths of His Word.......as we walk along the way.Do you know that the Lord commands us to teach our children and grandchildren? He says, diligently.... it is an adjective, having or showing care and conscientiousness in one's work or duties.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9.

Do you know that the Lord commands us to teach our children and grandchildren? It is a blessings for them.......and pleasing to the Lord when we do so.

Then off V went with the wheel barrow to get some straw......he said why? I said it would make it look real cute and the sheep would love it! He said, "nat coot"...........I said wait and you will see.

V said, "coot!
My silly V!

An orphan no more!!!!!

I will pray God will use the Word that I shared with him to penetrate his precious little heart ........I am thankful I just need to be the Lord's messenger..........God will do the rest. "God Chatter" is so important!

I have only two more seed swap ladies to finish up with! Hope all are getting ready to send out your seeds and what ever else you would like to do. It really is up to each one what you send, but please send at least one or two seed packets.
Father, please take these acts of kindness and bless each lady by Your love!!!!!!! In Jesus Name, AMEN!

I can't wait to hear from you how it goes!!!!!!!!

It is His pleasure to receive us just as we are sweet ladies. He knows all about us and wants us to just come to Him! What a precious thought

Did you know He thinks of you every single minute? Unbelievable!!!!!!

I heart you precious ladies....have a wonderful SONday!

A Lot of God Chatter Going On With My Vitaliy!

Hello Sweet ladies!!!!!!!!!!

Today I am spending some time working with Vitaliy........we are cleaning the little building that will house Willow (our new sheep) and her baby or hopefully babies! Inside we stored lots of our old patterns........we have to take them all out. Plus a pack rat lived inside it a long time ago. Ugh! They just pile sticks on top of each other and make messes.

As we work we are talking a lot of God Chatter about the Lord. He loves Him.......I am so thankful. The top of the roof needs repaired.........I will show you later what it will look like.........I keep saying, "oh how beautiful", when I see something that is old and really neat. V says, "that not beautiful"...........as we started working and he saw what I was going to do, he started saying that is cute! Over and over again......or "dat good".

Have a sweet day.......we are making memories. I so want my V to love Jesus with his whole heart.......today we will add to what his Momma and Daddy are pouring into him.

Hugs to your day!
Linda

P.S. Still working on the seed swap. Should be done today!

Green Little Leaves Coming Out Of The Ground!

Good evening sweet ladies........I feel like it has been forever since I put up a post. We had the bad weather on Monday night and that night after my internet provider must have had some problems. It went off. There was such high winds and tornados about a half an hour away. It was a bad night for some. I don't like it when we have those severe storms......so much damage happens to a farm. We have had our share for sure.

I have to tell you.........I got a call from my farm friend that lives not far from our farm. She has been looking for a Momma Sheep for me. She is the one that let us have the little baby lamb to care for. The sheep she has was given to her and she isn't quite what she wants in her herd. The Momma Sheep is pregnant and will be having a baby or maybe two. I have just given it to the Lord as to "when" He would find me a sheep.......tonight I got the call. It is "When" and I am grateful! I will post a picture when I get to go see her this weekend. Sooooo excited! Thank you to all who prayed with me. I just love having the Lord get all the credit! Amazing love.......He has for us!

It was beautiful yesterday, sun was shining and it was soooo warm outside. I went outside and looked at my garlic that I planted last fall.........they are so healthy and doing so well. Aren't they so sweet? Just "reachin" for the sky!

This last Monday afternoon, before the storm hit I planted a few things. First I put 10 of my 30  strawberry plants in. I will have to pick off all the flowers this year and not eat the strawberries. I am sure I will have to sneak just a few. It makes for stronger plants they say. I planted them in a protected area out in the Potter's Shed. The same place at the other end of where I put my garlic. If we get weather down in the freezing, I will cover the top with some greenhouse plastic I was given the other day. I was given enough to build a large greenhouse. Thank you JESUS. I would never be able to afford one, but have always wanted one. Now to learn how to build it!

Can you see that little green life?

I also put in some lettuce a week and a half ago and I had put it under a plastic clear tub.......I had tiny green babies!!!!! Talk about excited. I love green life! Shows me over and over how the Lord, who gave us plants which is recorded in Genesis........ and we are still enjoying His gift. I also put in my carrots and radishes. It was so nice to get to dig in the dirt!

Checked on my Miss Milly and Missy Thatcher tonight.......they are so huge and puffed up....... protecting their eggs so well. They will have baby chicks on March 8th. Just in time for my vacation.......they are such good girls!

I am still working on the seed swap partners, with my internet off it caught me off guard. We had 52 sign up........thank you sweet ladies for doing so!!!!!!

Hope all is well with you all. Thank you for all the personal emails to see if our family was okay. Also for the prayers for us......you are so so sweet!

Blessings and may God bless you all,

Linda

P.S. To nite I heard a robin singing up high in a tree.... as beautiful as can be.......has anyone else seen one? That means spring is getting closer.
