Another Sweet Night Outside!!!!!!!

Hello sweet ladies,

I spent all my time outside after I got home.......so many things to finish up after planting last night. I watered everything.......that took so much time moving the hose from place to place. It will help everything grow a little bit better until we get some rain. Needing it again.

Taylor was working with Juneau and Denali had so much fun running after his Momma. This picture is for Abby. Her momma Teresa said that she enjoys the animals on our farm and reads my posts with her. Thought Denali was probably included in the animals. I thought he looked so beautiful........so does his momma.

The chickens were getting into my flowers, so I used some of the smallest chicken wire to protect them until they get bigger. I am going to use the wire in other places on the farm also. Do you use anything to help your plants get a start to protect them from pesky animals?

Two more babies born and two are hatching that are in the incubator that I put in 21 days ago. WE are busting with BABIES!

I love to walk by a Momma cat nursing her babies. We are giving some away to the college kids!!!!!! Should put ribbons around their neck and give them out at graduation. Heehee! Then I would run!!!!! Not really!

Well I have 3 more days left. It will be wonderful, but today I realized that it was going to be hard leaving the kids. Some will not be back next year and I have gotten quite close. Silly me, can't make up my mind.

Hugs from the farm and God bless your day!!!!!!!!

Busy Night In The Garden......Farm Life at It's Best!

Good evening sweet ladies,

Came home and you know where I went......down to the milk house.......baby was coming. I know this is not the best picture, but look how much it had worked today. I noticed that it was starting this morning before going to work. It did finally hatch! It was dark in the milk house, so I couldn't take a pic. It was out of the shell and wet. Momma will take good care of it.

The weather was perfect tonight for planting.....had to wear sweatshirt and jeans, because it was in the 70's. The sun was shining and a cool breeze was perfect. I planted the rest of my pickle plants, butternut squash, yellow squash, lavender, lemon verbena, a few more tomatoes, zinnias and I can't remember what else. I was planting in our south garden. Also at the same time our youngest daughter was having a sweet friend come to take some pic's for her senior pictures. Tay wanted Denali and Juneau in the pic's. Denali decided to run and I mean run through some of my garden. Thought you would like to see how he is growing.  I got cans to put around some of the plants to protect them from this little guy! I am sure this will not be the last time he will try this. Thinking of a picket fence!

My Scarlet Red Verbena is growing and blooming.....this is probably one of my most favorite flowers. Have to have it every year. The red is so deep and looks like velvet petals. What is your favorite flower that you have to have? I asked on my Prairie Flower Facebook and it was so fun to hear what some liked.

Got in the house tonight after 9, short post, just think after Friday it won't matter how long I stay outside or stay up. I will be so grateful to have some time to get the things done on the farm that have needed done for some time.

I hope you have a good day. Thank you for leaving me comments. They make my day sweet!

Welcome new followers........you have been noticed.....by ME!

Hugs from our farm,

A Night Around The Campfire

Good Morning Precious Ladies,

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years...

Living on a farm you see it! We live by it because of farming.

Last night was a sweet night here on Prairie Flower Farm. A young lady who has been in our life since we served at Extreme Kansas Kamp came to celebrate her birthday with some of her friends. She lost her Momma to cancer about 5 years ago. When she came to camp to work, she came up to me the first morning it started. She said, will you be my Momma for the time I am here?" Now I had no idea how the Lord would take this precious young lady and  wrap her life so sweetly around my heart. She worked in the camp's kitchen along side me every morning. Her heart was broken because of the loss of her momma. She was so so sad because her relationship with her had been perfect. I knew who she was. I had been asked by a friend to pray for a sweet family of 3 children and husband a few years before. A homeschool family and a momma who was dieing. Our family prayed not knowing them. I remember how sad I was for such a young Momma. Then years later this Momma's daughter Emily would be brought into my life......Details!!!! Anyway last week her beau came to me while I was on the line and asked if he could plan a party for Em and some of her friends......of course the girls and I were so excited. They came.....and we had God Chatter......all night. They watched the sun go down and the moon come up. God put on a spectacular show for His children. It was breath taking. The college kids miss home they said....they live within walls and cement. Some said that it fills like they are in prison.......I know what they are talking about. When we got the job at the college....(now I know it was ordained.....by my Father) I felt like I was in a prison. After working alongside my sweet man for 36 years "free" to go outside and work along side him on the farm and then in an instant that freedom was gone. I found myself in a place where I looked at walls with no windows......and it was so hard for myself and our girls. Last night we had the kids on our own turf so to speak.....they looked out across the prairie and they kept telling us thank you.......they had come to a place of refuge, a place that has been dedicated for His desires. A place the Lord has prepared for us to love on college kids. Amazing love! He listened to my prayer for all those 30 years........ for a place of refuge. I always thought it would be used for Pastors and their families......but all along it was going to be for the young who He wanted to be encouraged.

He is the keeper of the sun, the moon and the stars.

I took this pic the night before last.....I tried to take a pic last night. My little camera didn't do so well. You probably saw it......it was so so pretty!

As the evening went on......we were all sitting around the fire.......listening to the night sounds. I was looking to the East.......most of the kids were looking to the West.......up from the horizon came the moon (bigger they say then we will see this year).........ahhhh what a way to end such a sweet evening.....by our Father who knew all those years ago when I whisper little prayers for Him to use us.......He told me "He will"!

I have discovered that I am a "wiggler". I get set in my ways.......and when it is comfortable.....I am okay, but when the Lord starts giving me a choice to do His will.....I want to wiggle out of whatever makes me feel uncomfortable. I will have another time of rest this summer to walk along side my sweet man and work the soil......then I will have a choice to go back to the college and serve the kids........I will say "yes"... with the Lord's help. I will try to do better this next year....I know I can trust Him.....He has made Himself known.

The boys were talking about a retreat last night......on Prairie Flower Farm.....with my sweet man.......Amazing Love the Father has... if we will let Him use us! I will try better to just wiggle closer to His heart... so I won't miss out on what He wants to do with my life......and you, are you a wiggler? He is waiting........ know matter where we are at.... in our wiggling.

I love you sweet ladies......it is a love that is pure, given to me by my Jesus......it has been amazing as you have let me know your joys and your sorrows. You have become such sweet precious ladies.........enjoy your SONday.....He is so worthy of our Hearts!

Hugs from the farm,

Linda

A Full-Size Cookbook for Just 99 cents

Good Morning sweet ladies,

I just got an email from Gooseberry Patch Blog!!!! If you don't get their updates.......it is easy to do. Just go to their blog an sign up for their emails.

Have they got a sweet deal for you!

A full-size download for just 99 cents for a limited time.  We used this 101 Easy Entertaining Recipe Cookbook for our Tressa's Graduation Party (click and you can see some of the things we made).......one of our favorite cookbooks! If you go over to their blog, they will give you easy to follow instructions on how to buy and download to your computer. Easy peasy!

Well as you know it is Saturday and my farm attire for most Saturdays is my.............nightgown and flip-flops.......it feels so good to go outside and let the dew clean off your feet and do my chores! I had to get buckets filled with chick and Momma food. While I was working outside the birds were singing and the little breeze that we where having this morning....... was wonderful after the hot days! The warmth has been good for all the produce we have planted. Honeydew, pickle cucumbers, acorn squash is all up. Today I hope to get in my little white pumpkin seeds......they are the sweetest for fall. You always have to think ahead! Cantaloupe, yellow squash, more pumpkins will go into today!

The nesting boxes.....filled with eggs........sweetness to this farmgirl's heart!!!!!

Had to go and get the grain for the Girlies and feed them. The ones laying on eggs all rushed to eat. I took the picture above to show all the eggs they are laying on! The three that are in the middle nester are ones the other girls laid. I will take them in the house.

If you look closely there is a little baby with it's beak showing under her wing to the left.....sweet!

Filled Momma Hen with her 8 little chick's food dishes. I love how at least one of her babies are always on her back.

You know where I will be........in the garden......putting down paper and straw so I won't have to weed! It works for me and helps so much to keep all the moisture in the ground!

I have to show you one more thing.......this last week was really hard for a lot of the workers in the kitchen. It was very hot and with it being the last 2 weeks the kids are tired and wanting school to be over!!!!! They can be quite demanding. One sweet friend who works with, was having troubles...... so I prayed with her. I so want her to "know Jesus". She came to me the next day and reminded me of the tough day......and handed me this small perfect little cross. Isn't our Savior so precious.......DETAILS! I almost cried.....that may sound silly, but the only thing that keeps me sane (by having to leave my home) every day and getting up at 5 is that He has a plan for our families life and that is to share the Good News!!!!!! It was only 1/2" tall.......He so many times uses the little things......Friday was no exception. That is not the only thing that happened......I was filling the cereal bins........as I was cleaning the extra cereal on the table I saw this teeny tiny heart. I didn't take a pic.....but it was the sweetest perfect heart! I took it to her and placed it in her hand.......another reminder to her that He loves her with an everlasting love, I told her so! I saw her bow her head at lunch the other day......"thank you my sweet Jesus for helping me to Love like you Love.......it makes life so fun!"

Hope you have a wonderful day........know you have been thought of........by me and of course JESUS!

Our Little Prairie Flower Babies!

Hello sweet ladies,

One more day of and the count down is happening fast!!!!!!! Just 5 days next week and home for the summer! WILL LOVE IT!!

Tenlee

Today I saw a pic of Tenlee on my facebook........remember the little girl we prayed for? Well she has the happiest little face! She was the little one where the nurse made the huge mistake on the breathing treatment and the machine took all the air out of her lungs? Well here she is. Thought you might enjoy seeing her!!!!! Keep on praying for her please. God has blessed their family big time.

Delainey

I wrote Delainey's Grammy and asked for a pic of her, so everyone could see her also.........SWEETNESS! She was all dressed up for Easter. Wow, God has been so so precious. The families would still appreciate prayer and thank you so for doing so.

Well so far we have 13 little chicks from Momma Red and Momma Blue. I have them all in a cage and the two littlest ones are with their Mommas. It helps if they get really dry and fluffy and grow for a day. There are 3 eggs left. I will see what happens.

I am so tired tonight......I am going to call it quits! It will be good to have only one more day at work and then 2 days home. Then only 5 more days......can't believe how fast the time has gone. I have to sit quite a bit at the front of the cafe. I have been writing all the things down that I would like to do this summer.

Paint the big coop.
build some little coops for the new chickens!
Sell some of the chicks at the Yoder Auction.
Make up some detergent.
Wreaths for the out buildings.
Build picket fences......lots!
Go through all the things we moved
from our old farm and sell the things I don't want.
New patterns and finish the ones I have started.
Make a cover for an old cotton blanket I have.
Make up some signs.
Would like to build a new porch on the
front of our farm house.
Make some napkin sets for each family for CHRISTmas......
and the list will be added to I am sure!

Well.....I must close this post......our bed is calling me.....it has been so hot here in Kansas.....wears a person out!

Have a wonderful Friday.....know I will be thinking of you all,

Linda

P.S. Is anyone receiving info that " you had stopped subscribing to Prairie flower Farm"? I have had one subscriber write and say they received something like that. I don't know what that means. Someone was trying to hack into my account last week (they didn't get through).......not sure why they would want to.......hope they read about Jesus!!!!!!!! Just let me know if you received the same info! Thank you.

A Rose.........For You!

Hello sweet ladies,

Our roses are just beautiful at Prairie Flower Farm this spring. This rose is called a "Peace" rose. It was given to me from my mother in love. My sweet man's Momma who is not with us anymore. This gift has kept on giving and giving. Everyday I have been taking flower bouquets to the college. I have been helping out by working in the cafe taking the kids cards, so I have to sit out front. I am amazed how many kids have talked about the flowers. The girls want some of them for their weddings. Sweet.

Came home and found another new little black chick..........

and the third little red chick........12 babies all together. More eggs are getting ready to hatch. At least 3 more that I can tell.
Sweetness!

Two more days and I will be back on the farm.....and then after that, one more week! If next week goes as fast as this week, it will be going by fast!

Hugs and may the Lord bless you!

Linda

Babies, and Babies and More Babies

Hi sweet ladies,

It has been quite exciting here on Prairie Flower Farm........so much so that my time has been used up taking care of the farm and babies. Babies were hatching all day and evening long......ask me if I had fun? Yup I did, I kept lifting Momma Red and Momma Blue......they are the sweetest Mommas!!!!!!!! They would never think to bite me and they let me share on being the human
Momma with.........pure joy!

Here is what has been keeping me busy! Sweetness! Little fluff balls!

Do you see the little sweet pea in the righthand corner? When I came to check here they were........all happy! Life........THANK YOU JESUS! I love it when I think of our Creator......who thought of us a long time ago! Seeing the empty eggs and wee little babies struggling for life........amazing!

I am bringing the little puff balls inside the house. I am not sure since the little brown one hopped out of the nest what would happen with the little chicks while I am gone. I would hate for the daddy roosters to hurt one. Seven little ones so far. I will be going out soon to see what we have who hatched last night!

Just came in from the milk house........I placed these little pumpkins in my pocket to bring into the house.......thought you might like to see! Another black one and golden one. More have peep holes.......I will hop out of the car when I get home.......

just like CHRISTmas........can't wait to see the little presents!

Hugs from my farm and may the Lord bless and make Himself known even more then He has already!!!!!!!!

Know that you are loved......by me, but mostly Jesus!

Linda
