Deadline To Get A Pattern Done..........Pray for Me Please!!!!

Good morning SWEET LADIES!

Wow wow wow, what a sweet fun party you ladies can make one at Prairie Flower Farm blog!!!!!! Your ideas are soooooo sooo cute! Loved everyone. I have so many ideas swimming in my head thanks to your creative thoughts. I will have fun. We had a lot of new ladies come over from Gooseberry Patch! A lot of ladies downloaded some of the crafty items I have on my sidebar.

The party is still going on, so if you have not signed up yet and you would like, you can still do so HERE!

This morning was kind of my first time since we have been off work to go out and look around the farm.

I stopped by the Potter's Shed.......today we are having some company later on in the day and it will have to be cleaned up a bit before they come......my sweet girls will help!

Off in the weeds were 4 of the 5 new chicks I bought at Yoder Auction........they were out eating bugs.......num! I haven't had a white one for some time. Looks pretty don't you think?

Opened the sheep gate........(Susan, love my bell) to let Willow, Twig and Leaf out! The birds were so loud singing away!!!!!! Beautiful morning.

Look who is looking through the window. Sorry it is blurry, but I love Willows face and her freckles!

Leaf is getting so big and plumpy!

Twig is bigger than Leaf........the picture here makes Leaf (on the right) look smaller then he really is. I think Twig is a handsome boy don't you?

The hard thing though is it is TIME...... I knew it was coming.....but am I ready to give up my boys?

Cheryl, a seasoned shepherdess (who lives not far from our farm), from Cresent C Farm who I bought Willow, Twig and Leaf called to say it was TIME...........that meant she was ready to trade my little boy lambs for two little girls. If I am going to start a small flock here at Prairie Flower Farm, I need girls, not boys....sad. My goal is to have the wool from girls........and one day I would love to spin.....but that is later on. I am getting ready now.  On a farm you have to think ahead most of the time. Cheryl has been so helpful. Anyway she met us as we drove up ........my job was to pick out two baby girls.......it wasn't hard to do. It is amazing how each has their own personality. I really like looking at their sweet faces.

She was one.......she is a Rambouillet a good kind of sheep for wool, one day I will learn to spin).......I loved her face......Cheryl said I would have to clip the wool from around her eyes.........so she wouldn't get "wool blindness", that's not a problem.....heehee.....right? Now I will have time to start working with her and making her my own. Remember when V and I tried to catch Willow just to put a harness on her? The thought of coming towards a large ewe with clippers to cut her wool from over her eyes makes me shutter? I will take my sweet man with! I do not want to be bashed up against the wall again.........open plains sounds good with lots of grass around me! I will take pic's when the day comes~

I picked another girl, but didn't get a pic.......I will let you see when they both come to live at Prairie Flower Farm! She looks kind of like Twig with black on her face.

As we were leaving....... the goats were going out into her pasture. What a gorgeous site! Thought you would enjoy seeing. The are so enjoyable to watch scamper across the fields with tails up in the air.........I like them. Not sure I could talk my sweet man into a goat......I had a billy goat once. He was not nice......I think I will just be happy with my sheep. Would love the milk though for cheese!
Hope you are all having a wonderful day.....wherever you are!

Today I will be sewing, trying to get a pattern finished for Quilt Market this weekend........working hard to make it happen!!!!!! Been wanting to show you for months it seems. Life was just tooooo busy to get it done......now I don't have a choice!

Hugs from the farm and don't forget to sign up for the party if you would like............last post,

Linda

Like this one.......

I use a galvanized tub for my big tree every year......if you want to do this keep a look out at farm auctions this summer!!!!!!
or what about this idea........

this summer you can put up your produce in vintage jars and have them ready for CHRISTmas gifts. Tie a ribbon around the top and hang a sweet tag......Cuuutteee!

I am going to be having a breakfast this week out in the Potter's Shed......today I am trying out one of the new recipes from The CHRISTmas Table (buy HERE if you would like). I had the chicken, fresh asparagus (from a sweet friend), EGGS from my "Girlies" and cheese on hand! So I couldn't wait to make this recipe.........

Chicken & Asparagus Quiche
from the kitchen of Melissa Knight

2 9-inch pie crusts
2 T. butter
2 T. olive oil
1 T. garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
1 bunch asparagus trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
3 eggs, beaten
1 c. half and half
1 t. dry mustard
salt and pepper to taste
2 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided

Place pie crusts in two 9" pie plates; bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly golden. Meanwhile in a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Saute garlic, onion and asparagus for 5 to 7 minutes, until asparagus is crisp-tender. With a slotted spoon remove vegetables from skillet, leaving as much of the butter mixture as possible. Add chicken to skillet; saute for 7 to 8 minutes, until fully cooked. Remove skillet from heat. In a bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients except cheese. Sprinkle 1/2 cup cheese in each pie crust. Layer half the chicken in each crust, followed by half the veggies and half the egg mixture. Top with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Makes 2 quiches; each serves 4 to 6.

MADE IT........DELICIOUS! So so good! We ate the whole quiche for lunch.......there was 4 of us!

Now..... you know how I always make a little something to go with the Cookbook? Well I have used a piece from a fabric line I designed some years back and made a little tea towel......but do you notice there is not a stitchery on the bottom of the towel? I need some ideas....from YOU....so that is the comment I want you to leave for vote #1!  If you could design it what would you put there. Words.......picture(describe to me what you would want).......whatever!!!!

Can't wait to see what you all say! I will pick one in this next week and have it designed and on the towel when we do the drawing!

This is going to be so fun......for me!

The party will start today and end
MAY 22 at noon

Now, there is noooooo pressure on voting. Prairie Flower Farm girls like to have a lot of votes... so I always do it.
Do only what is comfortable though.

Mother Day and A Winner!

GOOD MORNING SWEET LADIES!!!!

It is Monday and I am Home at our FARM!!!!!!! My prayer today is that the Lord would keep me focused to accomplish those things I need to get done while at Home this summer! I am so so excited to see what He has planned along with mine! So many things I want to do on the blog also! Things need to be done around the farm......building some picket fences around the chicken coop, building a little shed (I have never done this before, but I am excited to try), having a huge farmgirl garage sale (I have so much to go through from when we moved here), thinking of putting some of the items up for you all to buy if you would like on a new side blog. Tell me if you think if you would be interested in something like that. I know one person who is......smile. Anyway I have a lot to get done and I am so excited.......was wearing my farmgirl morning attire (NIGHT GOWN) to go and check on everyone (animals) this morning. Forgot to put on some flip flops and the turkey started after me. Purtttty site I tell ya, me running around the yard trying to get away from that silly guy! NOT! It did feel good to go around the farm and not have to be in the four walls of the  college kitchen.......so so thankful and the Lord knows it too, I keep telling Him over and over......He must be a thinkin......."my sweet bride"! Isn't it wonderful to know that HE does think of those who have accepted His gift of eternal life, like that......hmm happy thought. Anyway it will be good to be on the farm and hope you will walk along with me vis the blog!

I bet you are wondering who Rooster Guy is going to live with!!!
It is........

she said,

Hi Linda, What a fantastic giveaway. So glad you will be home for the summer. I would bring some of my fried chicken, potato salad. And my lemon dessert.

She doesn't have a blog, but I will be emailing her.......thank you sweet ladies for making the Coming Home party so much fun. All your comments made it like we were really going to have a party together. The sweet fellowship would be so fun.....some day!!!!!!!!

SONday we were invited to the lake to be with our whole family for a picnic and boating. Talk about a precious day. It started out at lunch when our middle son prayed. He prayed and asked the Lord to put "a sweet hedge of protection for our lives" for his sweet wife and his Momma (me).......I lost it! Thank you JESUS.....I will coast on that for a long long time! Hope your day was special and thank you so for the sweet wishes! The pic was of Vitaliy behind the boat on a tube. It was so fun watching him experience all the new things such as being on the water. Coming from Ukraine he did not have these experiences. He hung on and loved the ride. Thank you Jesus he is now ours.

I have to show you what I got from one of our son's family.......cuuuttttte! Ellie my grand daughter told her parents, "I bet Grammie puts a chicken in here.........heehee funny thing, I saw it and I thought a "A PIC with some Chicks! She knows me well! It is a cake holder.....I have never seen one so cute!

Isn't she adorable?

I have to tell you this story about Miss Henny Penny......she is a huge Rhode Island Red that I have had for some time. Beautiful Girlie. Anyway, I went out to gather the eggs this last Satuday, one of the roosters jumped up on the roost......all of a sudden I heard this clucking going on and I looked up......there was Miss Henny Penny....all fluffed up and ready for attack. I thought how funny that she is nesting up in the little loft and then my next thought......was I have to save the babies. If they fell they would not make it. Sooooooooo I took off for my sweet man!

He said we needed a ladder. So my sweet man got one and put it up......do you see Missy up in the top right corner? She is such a funny Momma......what was she thinking? I went up first just to see what was going on.

First thing I found was a broken egg......thought one baby chick? I was not about to look under her.

She was all puffy.....ready to defend her nest......didn't look comfortable.......she didn't have straw like I thought she should. I like my girls all comfy cozy. Soo...........

my sweet man went up with a box ready to get the little ones, if she had some...........not one egg.....but she was broody and that was all that mattered to me! I was going to help her. He brought her down. I took the box and was going to give her a nest.....filled with straw......

Well if it is not a hens idea......it usually doesn't work.......

she just walked around and didn't hop into my nicely made nestof eggs I had made for her......so I left for awhile. When I came back she had made her own nest........

she was broody alright.......I placed eggs in front of her and she tucked them under her warm tummy. 21 days....can't wait to see......this farm has so many little ones that are all being made inside the eggs......oh my what a precious God we have who thought up babies!!!! If I can't have my own anymore.......then I will help my girls with.... having theirs!!!!! It's the Mother in me......I love it!

I am listening to the CHRISTian station today... with a Happy Heart.......what a precious day the Lord has given me......I will be in a constant state of praise........can't help it.....He is so PRECIOUS and worthy of all of my praise.......even if I was in the college kitchen......but today I am not....I am at our farm and I will enjoy!!!!!!! He will find me many times lifting my hands high with PRAISE and doing a little dance...........to think He will be dancing with in the heavens!

Hugs sweet ladies in my life.........
have a blessed day in JESUS!

Linda

P.S. It looks like we will be doing a free download cookbook. I can't do it this week, but I will be telling you this next week how we will go about it. This will be so much fun! Thank you for the big response. We have done this once before with our Prairie Flower Farm CHRISTmas Cookie Cookbook (scroll down my posts and you will see it on the side bar).
I have some fun ideas and will use some of yours also if you have a way you would like to see it done........

another party in the making.......GOOSEBERRY PATCH!

Just got this from Mary.......who just won the Rooster Guy......she has asked prayer for her sister Carla who is having a "Double Mastectomy" surgery Tuesday (tomorrow) morning around 11:00am.Then they are putting these painful tissue expanders in to stretch her skin for maybe up to 6months.She will also have drainage tubes put in.Then eventually they can begin reconstruction. She thinks she isn't going to wake up from the anesthesia. She is also the one who lost her 20yr.old son 6months ago to a drug overdose. Her and the rest of the family are still grieving over the loss of Robby. Carla is carrying an enormous amount of guilt. One GREAT thing out of this is that FOR NOW she will not have to have Chemo or Radiation. So we are praying they find nothing new. Her Faith is strong & believes in GOD.

Thank you ladies for praying.......it sounds like she will need it. Bless her heart.

HAPPY MOMMA'S DAY

Hello sweet ladies,

Today was a very busy day and I thought I would have time to write a post........it isn't going to happen! I will be with all my children tomorrow so thought I would just wish you all a very blessed Momma's Day!

My prayer for you.......Father I thank you so much for our Momma's....thank you that you thought the whole thing up and because of it we are blessed. I ask that you would strengthen them to be able to do the things that are needed in their days. Would you encourage them in their inner man....to know how deep your love is for them. Use us Father to bless them and be there for them. I personally want to thank you for my Momma. It has been hard to not have her know who I am, but I know that with out a doubt you have planned her days....and I can rest in that. Thank you for all the precious ladies that meet me here at my blog......bless them Father. I ask all of this in the most precious and Holy Name of Jesus, Amen

Know that you are loved......by me and Jesus.
Hugs

Linda

Having a Sweet Saturday....and YOU?????

Dear sweet ladies,

I have the sweetest girlies!!!!!! They are always sitting and laying their eggs......sweet gifts, don't ya think?

What a precious morning I had. I couldn't hardly stand to believe I am home for 2 1/2 months. I can just feel my body  relax and not feel the rush rush that I have been feeling these last months. Farm life is work, but it is a fun kind of work. This morning I went out and fed all my little chicks. The cages were all nice and clean because when I got home last night I went to shovel all the old straw and laid down new. Makes me feel good when I can get that done!!!!!! That was the first thing on my list......and I have a long list. I will take my time and cross off as I get each one accomplished........I will have fun getting each one done.

Today I am sewing on a project......can't tell you what it is. Gooseberry has another new cookbook........and.......I get to do a review for them....that always means........... we can have another Party......one of my favorite things to do!

Speaking of parties. I have to tell you that each item that you wanted to bring to the Coming Home Party sounded wonderful. One thing we were going to be sure to have was FRIED CHICKEN AND HOMEMADE POTATO SALAD!!!

If you would like to do a "Coming Home Party Cookbook, let me know and you could send me your recipes and we could put it in a free easy download if you would like. Leave a comment if you think you would like to do this.

Well I am off to count all the entries. Can't wait to see who won! Thank you so much for making our life so much fun here at Prairie Flower Farm........you are all the sweetest!!!!!!!

Hugs from the farm,

Linda

ONE MORE DAY....... Prairie Flower Farm PARTY!!!!!

Hello Sweet LADIES!!!!!

Now most of you know that Friday is my last day........that is a good reason for a celebration....don't you think?  I have been thinking for some time to do this, but kept it a secret.

YOU CAN WIN ONE JUST LIKE HIM!!

When I bought my "Rooster Guy" some time back to put up on Willow, Twig and Leaf's fence, I bought another one..... just for this fun occasion of being off work for the summer party. As most of you know my HEART is my HOME and it always has been, but we had to do what we had to do to survive on our farm. We prayed, we knew that many have been having a hard time finding one job, much less 4 at the same place. WE asked the Lord. The Lord opened the door for myself, my sweet man and our girls..... to work during the winter at the college.........TOGETHER! He answered our hearts desire....we have seen His hand all over it and we have been thankful. Sharing Jesus with anyone is what we have always loved to do! Now He is using us with 400 plus kids!!!!!! Tomorrow will be our last day until August! I have been so tickled this last week knowing we were coming back home for the summer. You will find me doing a little happy dance when I think nobody is looking! Heehee! I do have to say saying goodbye to some of my precious kids there was hard. I even got a card from a sweet girl who had to do time in the kitchen......I got to love on her and we cried today when we said goodbye. God used them in my life big time!
Let the Party begin!!!!!

COMING HOME PARTY!!!!

Starting now and ending on this

May 12th
SATURDAY at NOON!

So here is what we are going to do.

All you have to do is tell me..... if you came to Prairie Flower Farm and we had a "basket dinner".....what would you bring?
Easy enough?

I love you sweet ladies, you have listened to my needed prayers all this last school year and I am so thankful for each of you. You have told me you were praying for our family, for the days I was down and I just wanted Home......you were there......you are such a precious precious Prairie Flower Farm family.

Oh and one more thing......everyone from "anywhere" (overseas, Canada) is invited to this party. If you don't have a blog please leave me an email at prairie flower farm at g mail dot com put Coming Home in the subject line.  Or if you leave an anonymous on my blog's comment........ you must leave me your email there to enter. Hope I made this simple enough.

I will have fun while at work on my breaks seeing who is signing up to the party and what you are bringing!!!!!!

Hugs from my farm to your HOME!

Linda

P.S. Told some I would show what my little baby chick looked like after it hatched today. Here it is!

This was what I saw when I got home.

This baby chick is so so tiny, never had one so small.......ever!

It has a real bad hair day right now......but soon it will be fluffy!

Where I Work.

Dear sweet ladies,

Didn't get much done on the farm other then doing chores. We have 5 more baby chicks from the incubator and 2 from Miss Mabel. She has about 4 more eggs to go. Three other hens are sitting on the rest of the eggs I got at the Yoder Auction. I think I will have plenty of chickens to keep and sell.

I thought it would be fun to show you where I sit in the cafeteria swiping meal tickets. Not fancy, but next year we will have a brand new cafeteria and it will be fun to see if my desk is new. Probably should not hope for it! Smile.

Everyday I take flowers to put on my desk. These roses don't even look real. Beautiful this year. The kids all comment about them and one girl is taking these home to her Momma. A lot of kids left today and more will leave on Thursday. It feels like this year has really gone fast for us. Thank you for all your prayers for us this year.........we know it made a difference!

Tonight we went to one of our grandson's program. When we got home I had to do the chores in the dark....with sun almost going down I shot this pic. I love the way the old barn and windmill looks at this time of night. Thought you might like also.

Two more days.....can't believe this week is almost over. I will like......... when it is. I have so many plans......trying hard to keep this verse in mind.

Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6

Hugs and may the Lord bless your day!

Linda
