Quilting And A Pin Keep For A Swap!

I am with a quilt group called A Dozen Quilters. I have never done anything like this before, but a friend Melissa from Lilac Lane invited me to be a part of this blog. Each month one of the ladies in A Dozen Quilters decides what kind of block and color she wants. I have really enjoyed it. Well, this block is for February. Iva who is part of the group put her wishes up on a post. I had never done a Wonky Log Cabin and thought it would be kind of fun to do it. It wasn't only fun it was a blast!!!!! I loved doing it. I think it turned out so fun. You need to go to A Dozen Quilters to her post and look up the sites. If you would like to do this kind of block you can find the different blocks available. I was so pleased and it "is" real easy!!!! Promise. Just wanted to show it to you. Just a little something that is going on in my life.

I signed up at Mary Jane Farm to do a Pink Keep Swap. It was so fun. I could decide what I wanted the pin keep to look like. I had been to a blog called Cottage In The Curve and saw this Martha Stewart Strawberry Pincushion. I loved the blog and the pincushion. I thought it would be fun to make the strawberry and put it in this adorable egg cup I found on sale for 35 cents. I enlarged the strawberry pattern and leaf. The lady I just swapped with just received it, so I wanted to show you what it looked like. If you ever want to sign up with the Mary Jane Farmhouse (go along the side of my blog and click on her blog button), you can get in on some swaps also. I don't get to do very many, but it has been fun to do when I have. I love how the pic turned out. It gives me a warm heart.

Blessings,

Linda

P.S. Please continue to keep my Dad in your prayers. I have been able to see him every day, but all that he can do is nod his head up and down. I am so very grateful for that. I can at least tell him he is loved. Mr. Phil is reading him the Word. It is precious to see. God is doing what He does best and I just have to rest. I was reminded this morning of the verse in Isaiah 49:16, "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hand......" Isn't that a comfort? To think, if you engrave something the dictionary said, "to be permanently fixed in". That does my heart good. Poppa is permanently fixed in to our Father's Hand. I can think on that and trust what my Heavenly Father is doing.

I got sick today and could not go see him. That was very hard, but we could call. All our older kids went to visit. That helped me know he was being encouraged. He is coming to the nursing home on Monday. Please pray for that transition. Thank you so much. I love you all bunches!

  1. Linda I am praying for you and your family. I know the difficulty of watching your dad slip away. I will continue to ask God to do what He feels is best for your family and I appreciate your updates and I encourage you to continue trusting the Lord. I enjoyed hearing that your dad was able to hear God's word and your husband read it to him. I hope you feel better. You are so darn crafty I just love all the pretty things you make. Stop by to see me soon as I am having a giveaway.

  4. Oh Linda, I just love that quilt block! It turned out fantastic.. you would never know it was your first one of that design. Your a talented woman.. in so many ways. What an adorable pincushion.. I want to make one!

I'm happy for you that your dad is responsive even if it is in a small way. We must rejoice in God's little gifts. At least that's how I choose to see it. It's so wonderful that your family is rallying around him, and showing him so much love. I'm sure he feels very blessed each time they enter the room... another of God's little gifts. Feel better soon!

  8. Linda,

I love that Wonky Log Cabin design! Looks like you did a great job putting it together too:)

We're praying for your Dad and all the family. I'm glad for his sake and for your heart's sake that you have been able to visit him most days.

May the Lord be for all of you an ever-present help in trouble. I like that verse. He's never far away, is He, even when we don't feel His presence?

  9. Hi Sweet Ladies! Still have sniffles. I am taking C & A and hoping it doesn't get into my chest. A few of my grand babies had it and they shared. Now are they not the sweetest?

Anne with an e, thank you for the prayers!!! My Daddy was very aware of what was going on yesterday. It was wonderful. Our whole family was with. We gave him a pad with paper and he would try to write. Yes, I love crafty anything!!!!! Being that I was in Home Ec all through school it just got in my blood.

Barb, I just loved the pictures of the pink houses. I told you what one my favorite was. I have it saved! Thinking of fixing up the chicken coop. How about pink, brown and white!!!! I can see it. It also made me think of a fabric line with pink chickens and brown polka dots. Going to put it on paper!!!!! You inspired me.

Mary, you are precious. Thank you! That strawberry is the cutest isn't it?!

Amy (little sis), I enlarged the strawberry a bit. Let me see if you do make it up. It is so fun to do. You are so talented yourself. I love seeing what you have done with your crafty little hands!!! I agree about the little gifts. I have been seeing them!!!

Delinda, You will have so much fun with that block. It is addicting. My girls and I are going to make some blocks into a pillow. Can't wait until I can do it with them. We have to buy the fabric. That will be a fun girl day!!!!! Thank you so much for praying for us. What a sweetie you are!

Anne, I did go over and left a comment. Bless her heart!

Melissa, That was a pleasure! I enjoy your blog and our Dozen Quilters group. This last block was totally my favorite. I couldn't make a mistake! Yea!!!! Thank you for praying.

Teresa, You have to try the block. It is so easy and you can't make a mistake with it! Thank you for the prayers. I can tell by my dad that God is answering the prayers of His people. I told my Dad yesterday that ladies were praying. He nodded his head, yes!

Blessings ladies you are such an encouragement, Linda

  10. Precious Linda,

Thanks for updating us on your Dad, and all that is going on with you, and your all your darlin' crafts and things.

So glad you have God's promises to cling to ~ for He is FAITHFUL to all His promises.

Praying for mercy, grace, comfort and peace from the Father of heavenly lights from whom there is no variation or shifting shadows.

    Blessings,

    Becky

P.S. Linda ~ I sent you another e-mail along with the original that you never received about 10 days ago. Knowing you were busy with your father, didn't want to bug you....but perhaps something is wrong with your e-mail address and you are not receiving them...or is it me? I keep checking to make sure I have the right address, and it seems so.

  11. I have been so busy the last 2 weeks but now that I am caught up I just wanted to say how much I'm looking forward to making the flower fabric pin and the Chicago cookies. I made your same play dough recipe years ago for my kids and have made a ton of Kool-Aid play dough for our church. May I also say that I just loved your clothesline photo, I think it's my favorite of yours and 'My waffle wedded wife' was hilarious! Blessings to you and yours.

  12. Thank you for your blog. I enjoy reading it almost everyday. Glad your Dad is getting better too.
I love your quilt block. We used to call those crazy patch blocks back in the 60's. We would cut a piece of muslin the size of the block we wanted and keep adding pieces until it was beyond the muslin square and then square it all off. Make a bunch of them, add a border, and wha-la, a quilt. Good way to use up small pieces.
When I am feeling down, I read your blog. It always uplifts me. Thank you.
