Been Thinking and Praying A Lot Today!

Hello sweet ladies,

Came home today and since the weather was so nice I washed up load of towels and hung them on the line to dry.....it is one of my favorite things to do like I have told you before. Simple thing.......all today I have thought so much about all the eastern states and what they have lost. I thought as I was hanging my towels.....some ladies were probably doing that last week and now their lives have changed! When you think about it......it has such huge ramifications on each life....it must be so hard to get things done these days for each family.....not like you can go about your day like you used to! It has been so hard to think of what it would be like if there was a disaster here of some sort. I used to feel like I was prepared.....but wondering if maybe I am not. Are you prepared for a disaster? Also be praying for families who have lost family members. Thank you!!!!!

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Psalm 46:1-2
This is a powerful verse to hold on to. It is so good to meditate on the truth, especially in the day of trouble. He won't leave those who call on His Name

I just put a comment up on my PFFfbook on some ideas of ways we can help. One of the girls said that Samaritan's Purse is taking donations. Franklin Graham started Samaritan's Purse, he is Billy Graham's son. A very reputable organization. You can read about it HERE When you read the article you will see that they are needing Volunteers to help with Hurricane Sandy and donations.

I received a picture from Becky that she put on my PFFfacebook  of the picnic basket I made up for them. It looks so cute out there on the prairie! Thought you might like to see it.

Hope your day is sweet!

Hugs,

Linda

  3. Good morning Linda! Your Scripture is so appropriate. I am on the edge of Sandy, praise God; so we only some wind and rain.

I am holding onto this verse; I lost my job yesterday. But my God is faithful and will see me through this.

  4. I try to learn something each year, to be prepared for a such a storm/disaster. I use my clothesline even when it snows, and have been without power during winter (almost each winter). We keep water on hand for animals and us, and flushing toilets. You are right, you can't go about your day as usual when the power is out. Our water is from a well, and we don't get water at all, and cannot flush toilets. Praying for all those suffering from the storm.

  5. Love the verses from Psalm 46. I was just reading them yesterday! We are very thankful; just got some wind and rain because of Sandy. One tree fell over in our woods, we had some water (not much) in the basement, and lost our power for only a very brief time. Others in our area were much harder hit. Some are still without power. Only one person died in our state but it was so sad; he was swept away in a mudslide (not a usual occurrence up here).

As for being prepared for power outages, I do all the usual things, but one thing I do that helps me a lot is to keep a list of things that CAN be done without electricity. That keeps me from being too frustrated about the things I cannot do.

  7. Thank you for putting Psalm 46 in this post Linda. I am writing it out and putting it in my kitchen window sill so I will see it every time I go to the sink. It is a powerful reminder to hold close to Him during the storms of life. I believe He is preparing our hearts right now...and as we listen, He will alert us to practical things to do as far as preparedness.
    Bless your heart,
    Beth
