Can We Pray?

A bouquet of flowers for you!
You may use on your blog if you like.

You know, I love how the Word of God speaks to our everyday lives. I too have been seasoned by grief and disappointments in life. Raising children in todays world is just plain hard, but do able with the Lord! I do not have it all together as reading my blog may seem. I have tasted much sorrow over wrong decisions that our older children have made. When our children leave our home they get to make their own choices and that does not necessarily reflect our life choices for them. That has probably been the hardest thing for me as a Momma. As a parent if you take training and teaching the importance of seeking the Lord seriously, it is hard when your children maybe don't do what you taught when they leave your home. But I will tell you, "Momma's and Daddy's don't give up!" Some have to find their way to the Lord on their own the hard way. Letting them do that is probably one of the most painful parts of being a parent. But just as the Father doesn't leave us. I will never leave my children. That is when the only thing I can do is pray. I would encourage Momma's and Daddy's that have children at home "Hide God's Word in their Heart!" It will not leave them when they are old. The Lord does something supernatural in their hearts when they tuck the Word away! Secondly if there are parents that have not done that, it is never to late! If your kids are out of the home, pray the Word of God over them. I have a prayer that I prayed for years as I saw wrong choices in my older children's lives. I blamed myself, if only I would of done this or that. No, they get to choose their own decisions. I did confess though what I knew I had not done wrong, even to them. It was hard to see some of my own bents in them. It was a precious time though when I confessed to them my wrong. It truly is never to late to say we are sorry. I think that is why the good Lord gave us families. We learn so much about life!

Hear is my prayer that I started praying in 2005 for my children.
My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land.
I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them.
I will give them a heart to know me, they will return to me with ALL their heart.
Jeremiah 24:7

Thank you Lord for your promises! I can stand in confidence that you love
my husband, children and grandchildren more then I ever could.

This is my prayer bracelet.

I just put all the initials of all the big kids in the middle and then all
the grandkids initials on the bottom strand. One day they will go through
my things as I have gone through our Dads. They will know that I
loved them and the Lord.

Is anyone concerned for what is happening to our country?
Pray...... he will hear us and act on it!
I was reading this, this morning.

Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.
Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders,
gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave
his room and the bride her chamber. Let the priests, who minister before
the Lord, weep between the temple porch and the altar. Let them say, Spare
your people, O Lord. Don not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword
among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples,
"Where is their God?"
I think we need to get serious. Please join me, we can make a difference if
we pray!

I know this is kind of a serious post, but it has been heavy on my heart
as I watch choices being made for the next generations. We can
stand together and God will make a difference! Makes me so
sad, can't imagine what it is doing to the heart of God.

On a lite note. We have a 90% chance of snow this afternoon. Oh stink!!!!!!
I have all the little animals all tucked as a bug!
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Photobucket

  1. Oh Linda I love the word you shared today. And I must say, I have been SLACK in my prayer life the past few days. What you shared today is so timely for me... I must write you more about it later today! I keep hearing that song, WHAT IF HIS PEOPLE PRAYED.... -- we do need to get serious and on our knees.
    I'll write you more later.
I love your bracelet... if you don't mind I'm gonna make me one with my kids in the center and my special verse as well.

  2. Thank you linda for this post.
We so often remember to pray during the storms but once they over it is easy to go back to normal and forget what God has done for us.
    Blessings for a great weekend

  10. Linda, thanks for the prayer. My blog is all better today! I pray for our country too. Working for a doctor and knowing so many this health care issue is absolutely frightening. When I see my doc is fearful I know that is not a good sign. But my momma use to say, "Life is hard, pray harder." So...I just do it! Blessings to you and your family.

  14. Oh Linda, thank you for sharing this. You have been on my mind often. I so agree about our country. I started running on the treadmill which is just torture to me. But then I have a good time to pray. Sometimes I just pray God will let me live through it! But I find our quilt group is often in my prayers, particularly you. Take care and bless you.

  15. Lea of course, make a bracellet!! I have the color of each of their birthstone colors by each initital. It is really sweet. Had a farmgirl that lives by us make mine up. We didn't get very much snow, but it is sooo cold outside. Just staying in a "stitchin" some orders up. Almost finished and then I have to start painting 2 fabric lines. Busy Bee!

Love the Decor, I agree. We have to just train ourselves to stay on top of things huh? You have a wonderful weekend also.

Lady Farmer, Thank you! If we all pray together imagine what the Lord can do!

Amy, I would agree. It is wonderful to know that the Lord is in control! That gives me peace.

Kathleen Grace, I am so sorry about your situation. It is so hard when we see our kids make wrong choices. I thought my heart would break in two. I had a book that I was going to put up that is called Praying Your Prodigal Home http://www.amazon.com/Praying-Your-Prodigal-Home-Unleashing/dp/0875099564. I used it so much. Sometimes I didn't even know what to pray. He has some prayers in there that were wonderful. I have a friend that has it now. I will get it and write out the prayers. Really precious. Praying..........

Goosegirl, you have blessed children. A praying momma is a blessings in the Lords eyes for sure.

Becky, thank you! We can be mighty in numbers as we pray together!

Sue, it is good that you are praying. I love it!!! We can make a difference in our own homes and communities.

Teri, such wisdom. I agree with you, that praying for our "blogfriends" is important.

Anne, I also have talked to other doctors. It is frightening for sure. I know that the Lord would get us all through, but it could be very hard on the elderly.

Cheri, I am humbled. Thank you, I always want the Lord to use what ever I would have to say to bless others.

Vale, I have thought of you often. So excited about that little one growing in your tummy. How exciting! I loved having babies. Still would be if the good Lord would let me... sad. I will be sending you something also. How fun for us! Hugs to you also.

Dorthy,so sorry for you. Makes my heart sad. Look up at Kathleen Grace and see the book I put up. It is absolutely the best book. It helped my honey and I so much. I remember. The Lord has redeemed my children, but it was a rough 5 years. So excited that you are making a bracelet!!!!!

Melissa, I can see you on the treadmill. hee I wouldn't have to go slow motion. I know that people will need the comfort of the Lord. We will be there to share. I love our quilt group also. Thank you for praying for me. You are so precious!!!! God is good! alllllll the time!

Ladies I have been without the computer for over 24 hours. Not fun. Just got it up and was so glad to get "my letters" from all of you!! I have always loved it when mail comes in my mail box. Now it is fun when it comes in my blog!!!

Love you all bunches. We did get some snow. It wasn't bad, just very cold!!!!!!!!!

    Blessings, Linda

  17. Hi Linda, a little late today in getting here..I am so worried about our nation I hope God is listening. I cannot imagine that God would want this happening to our great nation, but who are we to question that. All I know is that my husband is disabled and his primary insurance is Medicare and it sounds like many doctors will not take medicare patients, and even prescriptions could get more expensive. We are barely skimming by as is..its frightening, the goons in Washington have totally lost touch with the real folks. And its all about'ME' with them. How about looking out for us. You all work for US. What a mess..Can only pray that bill goes down tomorrow..miracles do happen.
Well there I vented. I appreciate your prayers my friend..
    hugs
    Barb

What a beautiful post ...Your words are so true ...We can show 'our' children the way but we cant live their lives for them , we can only hope that the values and the things we have taught and shown them will be in their hearts and minds and will guide them . My late darling Dad taught me this and he was one of life's best and i in turn have taught my children ..Thank you for sharing this ...May you have a wonderful day ...God bless love Melita ( nana meme ) xxx

  20. Oh Yes may we all be faithful to pray for our children, our grandchildren and our great grandchildren, if you do not have children then pray for some one elses, I shudder to thihk what this generation will be facing. But our God is still in control even when it feel like the Government is, in reality God is still on the throne, and nothing is going unnoticed by him. He is our helper, he is our shield, he is our comfort in time of trouble, thank you for sharing your heart dear, I really enjoyed your blog.
    God bless you, Barbara

  21. Linda, what drew me to your blog was the title of this post..I thought,,darn tootin girl, I'm coming here to pray..and than I 'enter' into this beautiful blog..oh my with all my favorites,,RED, GINGHAM..than I stop because I need to read this post,,amen amen amen sweet sister...YES...

God opened my eyes these last 18 months to see where I needed to confess my mistakes, my failures..I have a prayer that I pray over each of my children each day and in this prayer it does ask God to "forgive me for mistakes made out of my own unresolved hurts or selfishness which may have caused my children's hurts. I release the anointing that is upon Jesus to bind up and heal our (parents' and children's)broken hearts.

My children know that I even pray for their future spouses...oh ya...lol

My two eldest now are exactly what the Lord spoke to your heart with what you wrote: "Some have to find their way to the Lord on their own the hard way."

I felt the Holy Spirit speak to me and say,,'your children need to make it their faith now NOT their mother's'...and "have I not taken care of you, did I NOT bring you to Me and care for you? Were you NOT worse of than your children? Will I NOT care for them?"

Oh yes Father, YES!! Let go and let God...SIGH....

I will definitely be coming back to read much more posts that you have shared here...I'm thankful for God's leading me to your beautiful 'home' here...

  22. Linda, this is so very true. Thank you for your urgency to react post. We have a family devotion time for our children ages 4-14. We are not as consistent as we need to be and that is a conviction of mine. We pray with our children and over them. We've not yet come to the place where they are on their own to make their own mistakes. I know it will be so very hard as you are saying. I'm also thankful for His promises and my relationship with Him!! We pray for their future spouses and for their boy/girlfriends and even for their friend selections. We can never pray enough for our children!

Thank you dear one! I pray you have a blessed week~
