This bowl measures 10” across and 7” high. That gives you an
idea on how many feathers. I wonder what he is feeling like this morning.
Yesterday was a full packed day here at Prairie Flower Farm. Tay was in the kitchen making her famous peanut butter cookies, Tressa was working on designing her graduation cards and I was outside most of the day getting the garden in. The girls came out at different times to help when I needed it. There was a possible sever storm coming so the animals were a little restless. I was working in the 2nd garden and heard a ruckus going on in the coop. Looked over and Mr. Not Nice Guinea was holding on to Mr. Nice Turkey’s tail feather and holding on for dear life. The turkey was running around dragging Mr. Not Nice Guinea around. It was the funniest site! Soooo I called Tay to come help me cut the wing feathers off Mr. Guinea a little bit more! This makes it so he can’t fly in and out of the coop. WE cornered the 2 Mr. Guineas. I went to grab one and in the flapping I could only get his tail. Now mind you that is a big tail on a guinea. I gasped!!!!!! I had the whole tail in my hand. Taylor and I laughed so hard! Serves that meanie right. Well that is kind of not nice of me I know, but they are so not nice and I would love it if they could just stay outside the pen and go eat bugs in my garden like they are supposed to do. He literally has only one I mean one tail feather left. He is still in the pen. Today is another day. . . . . . Taylor ran to go get the camera, so I could show you how many feathers i grabbed. They really are beautiful feathers. Perfect polka dots on some of the feathers and oval shapes on other’s. Isn’t the Lord amazing that He would be so detailed in His creation, to give His children beautifulness to look at. Hmmmmmm I love it!
Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1: 24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
The plant I have pictured here is a tomato plant we bought in advance, so we would have tomatoes earlier. We put in 12 plants to get a head start. Can’t wait for the first tomato! Little flowers are waiting to turn into tomatoes. We will make fresh salsa with our first harvest.
Yesterday I planted all of the rest of tomato plants in the garden. I was really pleased with the tomato plants that were started from seed. It makes such a difference, if you use a light, even if it is just a shop light. It keeps the little plant controlled and it won't go off and get spindly by trying to find light. The base of the plant will be nice and strong. You will need the light about 2" from the top of the plant.
In the other garden I finally got the potatoes in. It won't matter that they are late, they will come up the same as those who got theirs in earlier. I just won't have them as soon. : ( The girls make the best garlic and butter potatoes. We will wait.
Happy Gardening! I would love to hear what is going on with your garden. If you have any garden tips please leave some. I am so interested in learning!
Today I will be planting some zinnias that I started and I will plant them in my garden. I love to see color when I walk into my garden.
