It has been a few days since I have posted. Been such a busy week and I have missed you all! I am glad many are still signing up for the party! If you haven't......please do! I will have the drawing on Saturday, can't wait to see who wins.
Today when I got home the weather was beautiful outside.......sun shining and rather warm for this time of year.
I decided to plant my garlic. I know I am a little late for fall planting, but I thought I would still try to get it in. I think it will do fine. We got over an inch of rain in the last few days, so that will help it a lot. I turned the ground over in this trough, that I always plant my garlic in. The trough is in the potter's shed and it is nice and protected from the weather.
I put on my pretty boot and out the door I went!!!!!!!
First separate the cloves and take off the outer skin, carefully before you plant the garlic.
Make sure your ground is moist........not real wet.
Plant with the point up and the root bottom down in the ground.
I put a thin layer of straw on the top of it tonight. The weather is suppose to be nice through the weekend. Then if it starts to get real cold in the weeks ahead, I will put another 4"s of straw all over the top. The straw will protect the garlic from the harsh weather if we have one.
It will be nice to have garlic in the late spring and early summer to harvest.
We have a lot of baking that we will be doing at the bakery tomorrow! Lots!!!!!!!! We have 3 catering's to bake for......think we
will be busy!
One of the recipes I will be baking up is this Pumpkin Pie Crumble. It is sooooo simple and delish!!!!! We have made it before and
the kids really liked it.

Well we have Friday and half day on Saturday still, if you would like to sign up for the Gooseberry Patch and Prairie Flower Drawing.
Scroll down to last post and you will see the party that is going on.
Blessings to your day and may the Lord bless you!

Oh NO!! Another year that I've completely forgotten about getting my garlic planted. I need to do it here in October. :-( Hopefully next year. I guess it's just hard to make the shift to planting something in the fall. Everything else gets planted in May or June here in NW Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting your garlic in!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda..you are such a busy lady, but you always know that your hard work pays off! Garlic in the spring! smile...

Linda,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are home for the weekend :)
Here are my 2 votes for the party:
1.)I first loved your blog for all of the Christian advice and encouragement you post, then I came to know you as a best friend and sister in Christ :) You have made a big impact on my life and my walk with Christ.
2.) My favorite thing about Gooseberry is their homey, comforting, country artwork.
Love you,
Susan
Linda, I JUST LOVE YOUR BOOTS!!!
ReplyDeleteYour link to Annie's dish has made my mouth water. For the longest time I was the only person in my house who ate pumpkin, now they can't get enough of it!
Have a blessed weekend...
Really I appreciate the effort you made to share the knowledge. The topic here I found was really effective to the topic which I was researching for a long time.
