New Recipe......The Best Scones Ever

Hello Sweet Ladies...........

been a busy morning.......all the animals and feathered friends are fed and watered........baby that was in the beautiful blue Araucanna egg hatched........it is fluffin' up so you can meet him or her.

We baked from "The CHRISTmas Table". You are going to like this recipe......a LOT! You know that we work in the college kitchen during the fall and winter months. We bake for breakfast lunch and dinner. We have a lot of fun making scones from our favorite scone recipe and the kids love them. Well I saw this one in the "Cozy CHRISTmas Brunch" section and thought we should try it for breakfast this morning...........OH MY! NUM!!!!!!! It was really really wonderful and we will be using it when we start back in the fall.

The Best Scones Ever
3 c. all purpose flour
1/3 c. plus 2 T. sugar, divided
1-1/3 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. butter, softened and sliced
1 c. buttermilk
Optional: 1 c. cinnamon chips, white chocolate chips, raisins or currants, or 1/2 c. crystallized ginger, dried apricots or dried cherries, chopped. We used chocolate chips this morning.

In a large bowl, stir together flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. (We use our food processor) instead of this next step. Using a pastry blender, cut butter into flour mixture until mixture is coarse and crumbly. Add buttermilk; stir with a fork until a soft dough forms. Add optional ingredients, if using. Gather dough into a ball, pressing gently to hold together. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface; knead about a dozen times, or until dough is no longer sticky. Cut dough ball in half. Roll or pat dough into a 1/2 inch think, 7 inch circle Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Cut circle into 6 to 8 wedges; place on ungreased baking sheets. Repeat steps with remaining dough. Allow dough to rest 10 minutes. This is me writing.........do this step it has Amazing results!
Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes until golden. Cool on wire racks Makes 12 to 16.

Still working on the writing for the new pattern today. While I was writing I heard this song on the radio. How can we not lift our hands high in praise to the God of the Universe who created us in His image? Well this morning I am lifting them HIGH! What a precious Father we have. At the end when all the people in the audience are singing...... it broke me  and I thought....what must the Lord have thought when His children were singing to Him

All you precious ladies enjoy your day!

Hugs from the farm and please keep praying for me as I write the instructions for the new pattern.

Linda

  1. Oh! A recipe I could make! I am [highly] allergic to eggs and so often I miss out on pastries.

I think I will make these for my Bible Study ladies tomorrow evening. I am sure my girls will be delighted to have them.

    Thanks!
