INTERNET

Hello sweet ladies,

When I got HOME  we had internet......... again. I have to tell you I was so happy!!!!!! I so wanted to be a part of  the 11th

and was so excited when I had internet and could join in.

I was sooooo busy this weekend..........the weather was nice and I had to make use of it.

I put the little ducks and the chicks in a small pen so they could get used to the outside.

They are soooooooo happy outside. I can move the cage.......
so they can eat fresh grass.

I also put the Rooster and Hen Cuckoo Maran's in another cage. Hoping to get some fertile eggs.

I know that it doesn't look real good now......but when I get the plywood on the top........and paint it..........the girls and I will like........a lot.

Ellie, my sweetie granddaughter helped me put up some insulation.........on the inside of the chicken coop. Well it really isn't real insulation. Since I started working at the college cafe........I started saving all the foam that came from the waffle cone boxes.........and the separators that separate the apples. I have a lot saved up so we started putting it on the walls. I was so excited to be able to reuse some of the throw aways. Our kids can get me plywood that I can put up on top. It will make the coop warmer this winter.

I used nails to hold up everything. EASY.
I heard egg cartons work also. We will see how the winter goes.

Here are some pic's I thought some might like to see.

The girls in the coop

I wish one of my girls would decide to sit on some eggs......
I am waiting.

Here are two new ducklings..........they have little "poofs" of feathers that look like they are exploding out of their heads. Really looks too funny!

Yesterday we prayed for rain at church.............it sprinkled a little today...............I came out of the milk barn when I heard it on the roof..........love that sound. It smelled like rain........love that sound. It didn't last long.........sad for us.......we will keep praying.

I thought I would give you another recipe that we made at work. It really is nummy and sooooo easy to make. Our family loveeeessssss chocolate cake. Tressa found this recipe and so we thought we would try at work. I have never had such a moist cake............ever.

It is so easy. I also have to say that you don't taste the coffee in the cake at all. We put some coffee in the frosting........if you don't like coffee...........just leave it out. It really is the best cake we have ever eaten.

Enjoy.

Rich Mocha Cake

2 cups flour
1 3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa
2 tea. baking soda
1 tea. salt
1 egg
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup strong brewed coffee

In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. In another bowl, whisk egg, oil and buttermilk. Add to the dry ingredients and stir well. Slowly add the coffee until combined (batter will be thin).

Pour into a greased 13" x 9" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool cake completely .

Frosting
1 cup butter, softened
4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/8 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup cocoa
3 Tbl. brewed coffee

Mix all ingredients. Spread over cake.

Hugs sweeties..........from my farm to your HOME,

Linda

  1. Oh Linda...it is so wonderful that you have internet again!!! Especially for all of us!! Love your pictures...and am so proud of you reusing some of those items. I always feel the same way when I can reuse something that would have filled the land fill otherwise.

That cake looks amazing I can't wait to try it!!! Thanks for sharing it with us!

    Blessings...
    xoxo Gert

  2. I know not having internet or the computer makes us feel so separated from our friends.

  3. Linda, I love your insulation idea. It's great to be able to re-purpose so many things. Glad to hear the internet is back, it's funny how much we've come to rely on it.

  4. Hi sweet Linda,
I'm so frustrated...I just typed you 2 long notes and this crazy thing lost them both! I had so much fun bragging on all your goodies, animals, etc. Please know my sentiments! I loved everything on your post and just wanted you to know.
I even told you I want to come be your Farm Hand! HA!
Just know I'm thinking of you and praying for you. You are such a uplifting part of my day!
    Hugs and blessings to you!

  7. So glad you're back. I haven't "talked" to you in awhile. I'm glad your Resurrection Day was good. We have had puny folks (stomach virus) making the rounds for the past two weeks. Only one left! Hopefully he won't get it. The pony is so adorable. I know that he is being enjoyed to the fullest. I love you, sweet friend.

  9. Hi Linda - Thank you for your visit and sweet comment.

I am in love with Koko! And I don't know how you survived without internet. I would have felt like I had returned to a time without electricity. ;)

I wish we could send you some rain. We have had a record rain fall in April and now the first week of May. I asked God today if I needed to build an Ark. My family jokes that we will need my husband's 12 foot fishing boat to get to our chickens soon in the backyard. They might be right! We had a break in the weather and I painted an outbuilding and with all the rain half of it has washed off! Yikes.

I pray God gives you some rain. God bless.

  10. Awww....Koko is so sweet and who wouldn't want to give her a kiss on the muzzle.
Glad to see you were able to get the chicken all rounded up after the great escape. Eveyone looks happy and healthy and the ducks with their little Pompadours are so cute.
I bet you are one happy and grateful camper with your internet back up. I know when it happens to me, I have to go to the library which is only a block away but just an inconvenience to me. My dear daughter pays mine as we just can't afford it on our budget. She is so kind to do that for me.
I will gladly send you some of my rain if I could but I think we will just have to resort to prayer. Heheh
    Have a blessed day
