Getting A Much Needed Walk Around the Farm and A New Recipe

Hello Sweet ladies..............

We are getting a little itchy for spring to come.......I love the snow and winter.....but I have been looking at my seed packets and getting idea of what I want to plant. I have seen brown and dead grass and trees and now I want to see living plants.......anyone else out there feeling the same. I will wait patiently........just telling you how I feel. Today after work Tay wanted to go to have me take some pic's of her and Kansas. Got out there and took a few of the barn. Love old barn wood! Then I started to take some pic's as of Tay as she was sitting on her stump of wood in the middle of the corral and Kansas walking up to her and loving on her. It is the sweetest sight. Went to take the picture and it froze. I couldn't get it to do anything. I will try again tomorrow. Pretty soon she was absorbed by Kansas and Kiowa. They were nibbling around her hair and the back of the neck. Horses are really neat animals.

These are really old kind of windows.
They are so interesting.

The girls have food to eat.........not sure why
they are eating wood!

I will never want to replace this door..............it has so much character.
Even the hinges are beautiful to me. Love to hear the birds that are singing in the trees above the barn.

Want to share a neat recipe with you ladies........... you will like it! Well, if you like oranges and chocolate

Today at work I wanted to try something different. I called them Choco Orange Cupcakes. Sooooooo easy and delicious! Have you ever had those candies that are kind of shaped like a long tube. They have orange jelly on the inside and dipped into dark chocolate? It is one of my favorites candies. The only time I ever see them though is at nice candy stores. Which is not to often.....but when I do........I have to buy a few. Num! I remember eating them with my Momma when I was young.....nice memory. Soooooo I decided today that I was going to try to get the same kind of taste........and I did. It was so easy and very good. The kids went through them so fast. That always tells me it is a good thing!

I used a basic Butter Cream Frosting but I like adding a little whipping
cream and also add some fresh squeezed orange juice.

Fresh Orange Butter Cream Frosting

3- 3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
1-2 T. whipping cream

Fresh Choco Orange Cupcakes

2 cup white sugar
1 cup softened butter
4 eggs
1 T. vanilla extract
3 cups unbleached flour
1 T. and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup cream
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
2 teaspoons of orange zest

Preheat 350 degrees. Line 24 paper liners in muffin pans.
In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in eggs, one
at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the
creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in cream and orange juice until batter is smooth.
Pour batter into 24 paper liners. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven. Bake for
20-25 minutes. Cupcakes are done when it springs back to the touch. Frost cooled cupcakes
and then drizzle chocolate over the top of frosted cupcake.

Choco Drizzle
1 cup chocolate chips
3 tablespoons oil
1/4 cup cream
Cook over med heat until melted. Drizzle over cupcakes!

It is really sooooooo good!

Farmer Honey put some oyster shells in the coop for me and the chickens are eating them up! Thank you so much ladies for all the good advice. I still have to find some old golf balls. We are checking the eggs more often......... hope it all helps. I will let you know.

When I went to check to see if they were eating the shells I saw my two girls sitting so plumpy................had to take a pic.

We are getting a gallon bag ready for our Vitaliy with Josh and Tonya. I am going to make up a picture book for him of all the farm animals here on the farm. He took two stuffed dogs back with him......... each was named after our dog and Josh's dog. I am just so excited that our family will make contact. He will know that we love him! Thank you again for praying for him. You are sooooooo precious to me and V. Please pray that the finding out on whether or not he is adoptable will go smooth and maybe the Lord could hurry it up?

Welcome New Follower's...........you have been noticed.......by me!

Hugs from my farm to your HOME and may the Lord bless YOU!
Linda

  7. I love your barn photos. It is wonderful to know another person who so appreciates those farm things that hold so many memories, have so much character from the animals who have lived in them over the years. Thanks for the great photos. Also remind me of my growing up on a farm! Did you happen to see my post Sunday with the Robert Duncan photos? I think you'd love them. :-)

  13. The cupcakes look so delicious,I will have to make them for the weekend. We like to have baking for coffee time on Sunday.

My Mom always had oyster shells for her chickens and also the shells from used eggs always went to the chickens.

I'm trying not to think about Spring. Even though we have been enjoying some warmer temperatures, it is only temporary. Our spring is still many months away. We don't plant anything outside till the middle of May and even then we have the blankets handy in case of frost.
